  1. I can't understand how Asobo has not been able to get this sorted out (or fully acknowledge the issue as players see it)....really hoping that the next few updates will get things better. MSFS can look so good and so bad....at the same time.
  2. 23 new products...I can't keep up. The MSFS store will have more products than amazon soon.
  3. Come on folks, let the XP fans win the flight model argument (we know its really not true). I mean, do we really need to see the great Austin go through these silly antics just to compete? Who knows what dangers the guy may put himself through to finally get his "performance killing" default clouds to extend to the horizon....something...even DCS (a military sim) has mastered.
  4. I think XP will be the #1 mobile flight simulator, the desktop version has been stagnant for years with a superior flight model as its only claim to fame. This is nonsense...the whole premise behind Austin talk about code and hardware convergence is because he had nothing new to say about the desktop version. His vision is light years away...as is, apparently...XP12. This may be the case in your world, but in the real world....if XP had 2x the user base as MSFS, then the 3PD devs would be flocking to XP. Where are all of the 3P Devs going??? Who has almost 12 payware addon releases a week??? 3P devs go where the user base is....and that, apparently is MSFS.
  5. Exactly, when I think of how gamers spend so much money on dlc...ammo packs....skins / outfits....level ups etc, I can't imagine how "big" the dollars are going to be for MSFS on Xbox. I just hope we PC folks don't get left aside because I think that the XBox version may be the priority from an earnings perspective.
  6. Now this is odd. When I asked folk in the XP thread not to bring up MSFS because these references usually starts wild debates that lead to closed threads, you teasingly called me the gatekeeper. Now here you are in an MSFS thread "asking" folks to stop quoting you for quotes that you made in....an MSFS thread. Karma...
  7. I know, I know...more "baseless" comparisons to MSFS. Man I tell you, they should rename this section of the forum on Avsim. I don't need to change your mind, a basic 101 business course at a community college will refute that statement. What does "sell" when all else fails is controversy,...and that is why you see Austin mudslinging in the comment section of his teaser vid (with less than 100k views).
  8. Wow, this thread is about a "low viewed" teaser vid where XP is trying to catch up...I like the contradictions...keep em coming... Well, there must not be much money going around because there hasn't been much development over the past few years. You can feel sorry for whomever...it is seemingly misplaced and a waste of your energy...much like your obsession with a "popular" sim...that you don't own. Naw...that is just what you resort to doing for "attention" when you refuse to spend $$$ marketing on your "stale" product. You make silly vids, then trailers with low view counts, then you resort to mudslinging. Yep...that sounds like LR.
  9. yep..that sounds like your "subjective" opinion...thanks for sharing it. Hey you, and apparently Austin, can throw shots at MSFS all day. They are in constant development (with over 7 major updates since release), and many more to come on their roadmap. They are not stuck on a 3 year Vulkan implementation and making "new" teaser vids about "new" features that are now...the "norm." Keep up all that research and focus on the one sim that you don't use. I know, Asobo / MSFS are so good at what they do, they apparently get more attention in XP's dedicated threads.
  10. Yeah right...show me where Asobo is in their video comment section taking cheap shots at another Dev. Nope. They are busy enjoying the success of the views / attention and subsequent sales. It also looks like many 3P Devs are reading up on that SDK too...
  11. Yeah that flight model thing is real subjective, the platform thread that you are in will tend to determine where the majority of opinions will land. Do you know the difference between a comparison (your words) and mudslinging (my words)??? Try looking that up for clarification... Austin mudslinging in the comment section for his own teaser video that can't get more than 100k views is pathetic (and telling) considering that the competition has garnered more than 6M views for their first teaser video. Now...that view count...is a comparison...and how wide is that GAP???
  12. When a Dev gets into mudslinging about the competition, that's a clear sign that they are behind and can't let their product speak for itself. Remember Austin once arrogantly said that he doesn't even look at the competition....seems like that has changed... When your teaser vid gets less than 100k views and very little play around the sim community, you then have to go into the comment section and stir up "buzz" yourself. Pathetic.... Ummm, lets spend more time delivering on those looooooooooong awaited simple and basic improvements, like clouds.
  13. There is just so much unknown (at least for me) on the MS server side of things. Do they have more users than expected, or do they share the servers with other clients (such as the spike in online service accounts for school / university etc. due to the pandemic)? In other sims, I can turned down options / features to trade for better performance, but these MSFS stutters persist with the lowest settings, as if the cause is beyond / unrelated to any PC hardware limitation.
  14. Whatever you do, don't insult him. I think that most people familiar with his antics ignore him, or spend very little time going back and forth. Over in the XP thread, he brags about blocking certain people so that he doesn't have to respond...and then he comes here to debate about a sim that he doesn't even own. So lets keep the threads open by not getting into insults. I think the 2M+ pilots, the swarm of Devs flocking to MSFS, the freeware community, WT, FBW, all attest to where MSFS is going.
  15. I typically do the exact same flight / route. Some days it is very smooth...some days it is a micro stutter fest. I really do believe that some of these issues are server related, and no amount of tweaking resolves the issue. I don't know what all MS has tapping into the servers, but there is a performance issue on their end that they have not been able to get a hand on in almost a year now. And I think that it is only going to get worse once the Xbox version hits the market.
  16. If you repeat something over and over again, eventually people will start to believe it... Despite the claims of the the XP fans...to me...MSFS has a better plane flight model and DCS has a better Heli flight model Exactly...its a subjective topic...but this is the conclusion that I, and many others have arrived at. Anyone can contribute to the comparison...but if you don't "own" both sims to see the difference for yourself, that comparison is usually heavily biased with ulterior motives... The XP folks have some hope with the new series of teaser vids showcasing some future updates. For me, the question remains if it is too late for XP to really make advances with other aspects of the sim besides their flight model.
  17. I have a Street Triple 765...you can win the race...I just want some long stretched back roads with little traffic. I agree about the helis....I only use XP for Helis and I don't think that will change any time soon. low and slow at dusk / night is where XP shines for me. I think DCS heli flight model is much better (huey), but DCS does not have many civil Helis and their night lighting just doesn't look right to me. I don't mind debating...none of us are cashing any of the Dev's checks. I think too many people take other's opinions too personal. I have no loyalty per se, just which platform works best for my given scenario. I do, however, think that LR has neglected its user base for too long. For a guy going for his PPL...trying to get familiar with the landmarks for cross country prep...and practicing some dead reckoning...MSFS, as a scenery simulator, is perfect.
  18. Ok, I thought that the 5M represented the desktop app. For the desktop app, I think that LR needs a marketplace to fund constant / frequent development. The initial / one time desktop sale just doesn't seem to be enough, dlc is where the money /funding is at.
  19. LOL.So is that 5M over the last 26 years years or within the last year??? Also, there is a big difference between someone buying a product, using it to see what it can or can't do, and then criticizing the product based on what they know / experienced. As opposed to someone sitting on the sidelines...spouting things that they heard about the sim (that may not be accurate). So when it comes to criticizing MSFS weather , flight model etc., are you a member of the 2M+ within the last year with first hand experience / knowledge...or do you (and the other XP gatekeepers so eager to bring up MSFS) fall into the category below...
  20. Regarding too late... I think this is why LR has decided to release the videos in bits and pieces at a time, to draw out the conversation, build the anticipation, and get XP back in focus. If LR had released all at once, the conversation may not have lasted all that long, but for however long these series last...LR can further build the anticipation. The Dev with constant, frequent development will get the most attention...catch up or not. Users want to see improvement on a regular basis, not once every 2 years. Nope. It is actually the mods that close XP threads based on MSFS comparisons / debates. I think that the XP gatekeepers like to draw in the MSFS comparisons/ debates, to distract from the criticisms of XP....and then get the threads closed. I mean....because it only makes sense that folk / mods can accept MSFS criticism on an XP thread, but not XP criticism. BTW...that trailer vid still hasn't hit 100k views...
  21. I am sure you do....with only 52k views...you might want to tell your account to "brace" for that onslaught of potential new sales.
  22. Addons are great, but I think that the majority want solid core features from the start. Plus, the broader the "initial" appeal, the broader the base, the better the chances of funding for further development. Why do you always bring MSFS into the discussion? I think any criticism you level at them is overshadowed by the 2M+ pilots. Asobo has a strategy, and it seems to be working with both users and 3P Devs (only a year after release). So let's not go down that road....for the 4th time...let's just stick with where LR is after 26 years. LR has always gone their own way....Austin stated how he does not care what user expects to see, and how he does not look at the competition. If you look at the teaser video, LR starts off showing a "user" requested feature and then they show the new lighting model as "if" Austin is now listening to what users want. Why do you think he has changed his tune??? Now looking to engage more...and most certainly "now" looking at what the competition is doing. He is playing catch up when he could have been much further ahead, particularly with graphics / user engagement. I think the vid is hilarious because it is about 3 or 4 years too late as far as impressing me. I mean when / if he "finally" presents better clouds, will it really be that impressive when even combat sims are already doing the same or better?
  23. No it doesn't, when one has to go searching for cloud replacement, water replacement etc., it creates an extra cost for the user. There is no mass appeal in looking for a fix for basic features... Only in your subjective view...in the stock sim...they don't. X-Enviro is the only addon to achieve this while looking decent....but again, there is the performance hit. This doesn't make sense, extended clouds and night lights were not simply left to the community to fix, they were just neglected by LR... Over the years, Austin had his priorities, and advancing XP desktop was not one of them. XP11 stock does not represent the best of what a "dedicated" Dev could have come up with after 26 years. No way. Again more excuses why XP is where it is after 26 years. Being honest, many people will admit that XP's development has been stagnant. For the 3rd time...let's leave MSFS / Asobo out of the discussion. Asobo is just a few years in...not 26 years. So no excuses, or distractions about other Devs. In 2021...we only have a "teaser" video about "new" lighting (some trace of modern graphics)....from a Dev that has been at this for 2 and half decades....
  24. But that is the issue, relying on 3PD Devs to do things that should be there "stock" out of the box. I don't think many people want to buy a sim, and rely on 3PD Devs for basic things like clouds, and decent looking water. There will always be limitations as to how good the weather can be....but clouds not reaching the horizon is an issue that other Devs were able to solve years ago without the performance hit. And its not just the clouds, the night lighting (although great) turns on in sections ahead of you like a little man is running in front of your plane (several miles out) switching on power grids. There are several things that LR could have improved over the years (stock) without having to rely on 3P addon (payware or freeware). Again, I don't think that many folk want to keep chasing rainbows for "basic" things after the initial purchase on freeware / payware sites. Especially if the Dev is not going to add / improve things on a consistent basis. And as you said, LR has been at this for 26 years...
