  1. It looks like your flight director wants to steer the aircraft left but it only wants to go right. This is a classic symptom of ''S" turns caused by FSX's poor depiction of Wind Turbulance. (happened to me) How you solve it depends on two things: Are you using FSX default weather engine? or Are you using a weather program like AS2012? If you are using FSX default weather your solution is to use the wind and pressure smoothing features in FSUIPC (if you have a purchased copy) or turning off wind effects all together. Confusingly, If you are using a program like AS2012 you need to turn off all FSUIPC wind and pressure smoothing options and let AS2012 take care of it, maybe even dampening down the wind turbulance setting within the program. Hope this helps and Good Luck!
  2. Switch off FSUIPC wind settings and let ASX (or whatever AS version you use) take care of the wind and pressure smoothing. I't does a great job! A post I made in a similar topic about a month ago: (I use AS2012 but the same applies) I use Active Sky 2012 in DWC mode (always). Because Activesky is looking after all of the wind and pressure smoothing itself within the program you should turn all FSUIPC wind smoothing and weather settings off. Otherwise they can conflict with each other and create problems like "S" turns, stuck winds etc etc... Allow AS2012 to look after everything and you will have no problems.
  3. Ever wondered what it looks like inside the powerhouse of many 777's?
  4. Switch AS2012 to Direct Weather Control Mode (DWC) Then turn off all FSUIPC weather settings. If the problem continues you might want to consider turning down the wind turbulance in AS2012 to around 30 to 50%. Worked for me! Good luck.
  5. The original question was "Is the 600/700 expansion pack going to be available" not "Is putting my FS files on an external hard drive the best way to back them up" And seeing as though that question has been answered there is no need to keep debating. Everybody has their own personal preference and that's the way it should stay.
  6. Good for you! If you put it away when you finish with it there should be no problem. Its not the sort of disc you will be using all the time. I totally agree with you. Remember that next time you shoot down someone's idea.
  7. Climb thrust is a reduction from full take off power to a slightly lower power setting to be used in the climb that occurs shortly after takeoff. You'll notice the change from TO or D-TO (depending on whether you used a de-rate or not) to CLB above the engine display on the Upper EICAS. The "setting" of climb thrust depends on what value you enter on page 2 of the TAKEOFF REF page of the FMS, by default I think climb thrust is set at 1500AGL. The CLB thrust limit gradually bleeds away as you climb higher. You can check the limit by looking on the Upper EICAS or the N1 LIMIT page of the FMS. See if you can hear the reduction from TO power to CLB power when it occurs after takeoff: (yes it's a T7 but the logic is still the same)
  8. How you choose to backup your FS files is your choice and off topic. If they guy likes to purchase his addon aircraft on CD and have the thrill of opening the package when it arrives, well then that's his preference. It's just unfortunate that the 600/700 package is not and will not be available on CD.
  9. Not everybody has a super fast, amazing, lightning bolt connection. The package took me nearly an hour to download on a connection with a download speed of nearly 1mbps, so god knows how long it would take on a slower connection. If he would prefer the product on disc then why shouldn't he be allowed to, at least he's willing to front up the money and support the business. Its not up to you to tell him. This brings us back to the above argument, and you never know Pete, perhaps he doesn't own a DVD burner.
  10. Maybe he doesn't have easy access to a decent internet connection? (It is quite a large download and could be frustrating on slow connections) Perhaps he prefers getting something in hard copy that he can put away and keep and then re-install without the hassle of re-downloading? I think it was a very valid question actually.
  11. Fly however you want to fly, its totally up to you. If you don't like my advice then don't take it. I simply offered the guy an answer to his question. Without asking for a debate. V/S- The simmers favourite choice.
  12. That seems a bit excessive doesn't it? CI's between 15 and 45 are the norm The DES FORECAST page is not just something that you "Fiddle" with. It is an important part of your descent planning. It assists with descent point calculation and gives the FMS an insight into what lies ahead. This page should be completed for all flights prior to T/D STARS are generic and are the same for all aircraft that use them. Unless the STAR has very steep above or below points they shouldn't effect the aircraft speed. Remember that you can GO DOWN or SLOW DOWN but not at the same time! Choosing V/S over VNAV or FLCH during the descent will cause the aircraft to gain speed regardless of what speed you enter in the speed window, because you are GOING DOWN without SLOWING DOWN.
  13. First of all, you might want to reconsider what cost index you use. 15 to 30 would be ideal. Secondly it is important to know that you can go down or slow down, you generally cant do both so it's important to think ahead and perhaps begin descending earlier or descend below the path a little to give yourself some extra room to slow down if slowing down is really a problem. You should also insure that you have entered winds in the DES FORECAST page of the FMS. This coupled with the ISA and QNH information you enter assists in calculating the descent and gives the FMS an insight into what lies ahead.
  14. Download the Flight1 registry repair tool from here: http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library. Run it as ADMINISTRATOR and this should correct your registry and point the NGX installer in the right place. Make sure that you also run the NGX installer as administrator.
  15. None whatsoever. If you find that things are still too bumpy and rough you might need to dampen down the Wind Turbulence Max setting in AS2012. I have mine set on about 30%. Works a treat .
  16. I also use Active Sky 2012 in DWC mode (always).
  17. Wind turbulance is simulated poorly in FSX and PMDG aircraft in general and very sensitive to it. You can choose to disable turbulance effects inside the FSX weather engine which will prevent this issue from occurring if you do not want to buy FSUIPC. No it doesn't. The free version of FSUIPC has no customisable properties, all you get is a screen inside the user interface asking you to buy the product.
  18. 1. Always!- and this goes for installing/running anything else FSX related too, otherwise you will hit trouble down the line 2. No 3. Yes- Turn UAC off and leave it off, having UAC off is key to a good installation and smooth running of FSX.
  19. Easy Jet operates an extensive fleet of A319 and A320 aircraft. It's last B737-700 was retired in 2011. Easy Jet has never operated a B737-800 which explains the problem of not being able to find a livery.
  20. Don't quote me on this but in the 744F the operation of the nose cargo door is modelled as it raises to allow large cargo pallets to be loaded in. In the PAX version there is no nose door, so no need for you to see any animation. Maybe this is why you don't see it, because there is simply no point in the PAX version
  21. Have a look at 747 tutorial #1 on the PMDG website, it provides step by step information on engine starting that is very easy to understand
  22. Do not feel the need to have the aircraft fully of the ground by V2, if you have a heavy load you are looking for a slow rotate from V1 to gently pull the aircraft up, taking about 4 seconds to get from "rotate" to 15 degrees nose up .The last thing you want to be doing is grabbing the yoke and violently rotating to get the aircraft into the air, this causes tail strikes. Get a program such as TOPCAT to help you with calculating V Speeds
  23. Actually you need to provide an equal or greater amount of braking force before the autobrake will Disarm, this is a safety feature to prevent accidental dis-arming of the autobrake And yes, even when the autobrake is in RTO mode, the pilot could still provide equal braking force, if not more.
  24. When using AS2012, make sure you have selected Direct Weather Control (DWC) and turned all FSUIPC wind settings and turbulance settings OFF, AS2012 takes care of all wind smoothing, preventing S turns.
