thanks for the feedback all. This suggests its official BEST WAY TO UPDATE REX IS FROM THE TOOL ITSELF, and not directly from Rex website, unless you really uptodate on details of updates. Was never gona install p3d without rex, now set to go, WIHTOUT FEAR cheers

You guys making me sad, My weather is HIFI ASN forever, I love their attention to detail, for example ease of installation and maintenance of service updates. Am part of the HIFI ISIS and find this thread offensive in the promise it holds, regard irresistible ground breaking weather add-on. And for textures am part of Rex Sect cant we just leave it like that, pleeeasssee, pretty please. HIFI backed away from textures, they not gona take this lying down if you want their weather engine too.

thanks much for the update. just been to rex website to check the links, totally absolutely confusing, full of service packs, hot fixes integrations with various confusing numbers. I wish I could get access to full installer for rex4 and soft clouds. Don't mind if it takes 10 days to download, but the web of hotfixes service packs needs reset with full installer else folks gona be downloading the wrong thing and messing up their sim, and many reports of this happening already with rex for p3dv3 and even v2.5. Rex solutions have always been messy, can we have full installer pleaseeeee, save me a migraine. can anybody please provide me link to what to download on rex I have soft clouds as a single product and also rex4 as single product the website updates is full of confusing names like rex4 soft clouds integration , don't even know what the heck that is. installed both in may, not used sim since then, and now trying to setup for p3dv3 I must I have done as many installs and pc builds as most simmer, and on every install rex solutions have always been frustrating, however HIFI solutions always very very refreshing, the update never confusing, installation fool proof thanks much in advance. looking further into this maybe its possible just to use about box in rex, and let it choose the correct update, I assume this is what all the warnings on the website is suggesting, can anybody confirm this cheers

@J van E When I first joined avsim years ago I could hit ctrl v and paste is done. Now even clicking all the buttons does not result in paste. I am robotics software engineer but also do gui, and I can tell intuitive gui from a confusion that tries to get you to to do things in unintuitive way. How about a control V to paste , am not a sucker for complexity. but then I don't post much anymore. If I designed the gui, Ctrl v would still work to paste, its what people expect, design GUI around expectations, what folks are used TO. That's how I make my living and that's what sells. So that you don't need manual to do simple things.

Sorry to say this forum controls really suck, cant figure out how to cut and paste link. In any case tool used for checking VAS is called ProcessExplorer You need Science degree to figure out how to use the controls on the forum, would pasted you download link

Thanks lous, that's exactly what I hope will happen here as well once I get started. But I have had many reports of joystick issues with v3. Do you have any joystick or controller issues in general. cheers.

Hi Don't have much time for sim this days, so don't want remove 2.5 cause many reports of issues with v3 example joystick issues etc my 2.5 is ok, but would adding v3 on same pc and user account cause any issues. cheers

Think I used migration tool Also does fsrecorder not require installation of all your simconnect in p3d folder. think I had to do this infact I think its this that fixed fsrecorder not migration tool

delete fsrecoder delete p3d.cfg reinstall fsrecoder

I don't know about Xplane, but FSX is not even nearly competiton for P3d graphics anymore . With volume clouds and shadows alone its done. But so many having VAS issues with fsx/p3d that Xplane with no VAS issues could take the lead.

I use acronis as well, its ok, cloud backup which I took 1 year subscription is crap , too slow. Acronis cloud too slow for even incremental backup of p3d folder, not even the system. Thanks for heads up regards possible issues with acronis on win10, aside from cloud failings, it works great on most other stuff.

gGSaiden Thanks for explanation, I assume that means, the smaller the object contained in the texture file the more likely you get away with resize without much visual degradation impact the sim. Thanks for this very key explanation, cause I would have hit all my texture folders with *.* Please recommended single tool for this if possible, don't mind if its payware for being easier to use. But trying to avoid multi tool solution am no texture expert, I came to fly, and p3d now got me looking at textures like I never did before.

Pull your Sliders to the left, and enjoy the most complex simulation ever, but don't look out the window, it will have to 1D scenery. Personally I think the T7 needs VAS reduction rework, before a 747. Cause its a very expensive bird many cant currently use, cause the scenery trade-off leaves you with fs2004 graphics in P3D and no oom if you lucky. Had T7 in FSX with 20/30 sliders, and eventually gave-up cause 95% flights ended with OOM on approach or landing, and its worse in P3D i hear , sometimes it feels more like a VAS leak rather than static allocation issue drip drip never stops till that fat lady sings. Its right to say budget issue, but I recall when I convinced myself of this I turned sliders down, I then noticed it was more like a VAS leakage, So even if you make a good budget by turning your scenery low I still had issues by approach, landing after long Haul So I think its more of a leakage that is almost impossible to budget for, atleast on my system Its relative to time, and longer your flight , the more save loads you have to do. I suppose the old FSX engine is now getting to cranky for devs and users. An extra note for OP on something to try. When in doubt, never trust those saved flights, epically flights saved before a new p3d.cfg. now I tend to get rid of saved flights with any cfg refresh.

lets face it PMDG we hope have learnt the VAS lesson for their coming 747. would be a shame to see shiny new pmdg 747 that eats all VAS and leaves no room for addons. Maybe its time to lower some of that pmdg complexity vas use to gain more room for addons, cause ill gladly give up my pmdg if it means I cant use other add-ons without oom As has been mentioned multiple times the biggest vas culprit is PMDG products.

just checked, its nearly 70$. The current FSX version which I own does not work in P3D, and looks like no upgrade option as far as I can tell. So am I right in assuming got to pay full price for existing fsx users for p3d. I ll stick with my fscommander planner if I got to pay more than 20$ or less for this

Is the water waves still only visible from close with this fix. Rich mentioned something about this being one of the cons of using this fix, Generally what do I loose in graphics if I use this fix cheers for all the handwork guys

The answer is really simple. Take clouds out of aviation and many RW pilots and simmers wil pack up their real planes and sim computers respectively. If it was not for the beauty of the clouds, then youll always find me on the ground looking down! not up. P3D volumetric clouds and ASN is far superior to anything I ever saw in FSX. Cockpit shadows, volumetric clouds, no competition , FSX is off my PC easy. And Bring On the Viver V3

you might loose a few friends with this compare fortu8ne spent on add-ons game. If I researched mine, ill probably have to go see a shrink.
