  1. Yes it is well known fact that FSX is not that great on helicopter dynamics, but still good enough to bring about the "feel" of flying helicopters. I understand/read Mr austens version is much better iro helicopter dynamics. (though I have not tried it yet - solely based on what I have read..). The other thing there is only one helicopter who closely got it right in FSX and that is the dodo. I fly dodo exclusively 96% of the time. Only other times I fly anything else is when a new helicopter see the light, then I install, take it for a spin or two but before I know, I am back with the dodo. All other helicopters are very docile and easy to fly in fsx. (again there is some developments like what they have added over at hovercontrol to sort of enhance standard helicopters flight dynamics.)
  2. Absolute true and well described. It is only the transitioning of the last 10-15 ft iro using the throttle (collective) that is a bit different to landing a plane. So YEs the initial section is like landing like a plane but the last 10-15ft you always have the ground effect to compensate and even if you going into a hover for taxi to landing zone you will need to adjust collective up to compensate for ground effect on blades,(that is if you want a super soft landing/proper hover and yes I am talking real life experience of just over 20 years and no we never taxi at 10ft but at about 2-3 feet.)
  3. yes that is a correction made by carenado. these lights are suppose to flash on startup. then die.
  4. Good luck with your playstation controlers..
  5. Yes you initially decrease collective but say for the last 5 meters (depending on environment and type of helicopter) to the ground you will actually slightly increase collective to make up for the blades less effectiveness the closer the helicopter get to the ground. That way you get super super soft landings. every time. I know it sounds funny but thats the way it work in real life also. I will see if I still have some real life documentation from days way past when i was still studying that explaining this phenomona.
  6. One thing you need to remember. the lower you get to the ground you will slightly increase collective. just an example at 100 feet collective = is maybe 70% the you start going down and you move collective to 20% and keep it there till you find the closer you get to the ground the faster you start to descend so: at 30 feet collective = it is still maybe 20% at 20 feet collective = slight start increasing maybe 23% at 10 feet collective = increase a bit more to 25% at 5 feet collective = increase a bit more to 30% at 3 feet collective = increase even more to say 35% at 1 feet collective = decrease the last collective slowly to sit it down gently PLEASE NOTE: the percentages above is purely to illustrate the point that you initailly decrease collective but then the lower you get you need to increase the collective slightly to make up for the forces from the ground that have affect on helicopter as it get closer to the ground. It is known in simple terms as "ground effect" where the lower the helicopter gets to the ground the less pressure there is for the blades as the ground effect have opposite reaction to blade forces. Note: This is purely explained in laymans terms. if you need proper explanation it is better to read up on helicopter physics. if you keep collective at 20% at 30 feet and keep it there all the way to 1 or 2 feet the helicopter will start falling (going down) faster and faster the closer you get to the ground. The normal reaction is to just drop the collective altogether and then it is more of a crash then a land (that normally result in a "thump" with that you land.) If you want I can create and post you a short video to illustrate tonight when I am home. let me know if you need something like this. You need to use throttle (collective), cyclic and rudders/pedals to properly land a helicopter. Again as other members already said, controlers play a huge part in properly being able to fly/land a helicopter. With Xbox controlers it will forever be a nightmare.! the other problem is that you have no "feeling" as what the helicopter is doing in real life, I also suggest you initially use the "helicopter training gauge" to give you a much more feel as to what helicopter is actually doing. until you get that right and then drop the 3D/training gauge altogether and then fly by the seats of the pants once you mastered the basics. The video will explain the helicopter gauge I recommend.
  7. just drop it please.. no whining is going to change that. they are under no obligation to do anything so you just cant force them to do anything if they dont like it. If you have problem with teh accufeel addon just develop your addon to not interfere with accufeel / or do add it, but just switch it OFF for your planes.. it is available to be switched on/off per individual plane. How easy it that.. Forcing the issue of making two addons gel that deliver same thing will NEVER ever work 100% flawless anyway. Gees just make your pick.. you cant have your bread butter both sides. If you so dearly want to use accufeel with your planes and feel so strongly that these NEED to work together, just de-activate your enhancements, like the rest of the 99% of addon airplanes and it will not be a problem. Why must a product that work with 99% of planes adjust to cater for 3 planes. Come on I enjoy flying Milviz with accufeel switch off.. Why cant anyone else.. beter make the 3 planes work like the rest of the 99% of addon planes and it will be even better..! to be honest it work with closer to 99 % of all addon planes currently. Why the big hoo ha to make it work with 3 milviz products out of 100 000 addon planes just goes beyond me, especially if these 3 planes try and emulate the same thing as accufeel.
  8. thank you, much appreciated.. after all we are getting a bit tired of you whining on this subject that they "forgot" about the "almighty" milviz each and every accufeel post you try and make an issue on this let go brother.. if they forget about you, move on.. if it is obvious they not wanting to open the door, why keep banging on the door.. I use all your aircraft and just switch off accufeel for them.. easy as that.. best of both worlds.! Unfortunately lets be frank, it is impossible to make an add-on 100% compatible with each of the 100 000 addon planes that is available Just live with it, It work great with 99.5% of all planes and that is good enough for me.
  9. Ahhh so I was right not seeing or reading anything about a release... just an announcement of accufeel version2 The new accufeel version 2 looks promising.!
  10. just to clear up any confusion, these instructions above/"quoted" are for someone using "REGISTERED" Fsuip4. Unregistered users of FSUIP4 must use the latest installed of FSUIP and then add the latest FSUIPC4 module ( FSUIPC4.859m ) and only need to add the following entry under the [general] section of the ini file. [General] PatchSIM1friction=Yes UNREGISTERED fsuip will NOT ever read any lua file.
  11. remember the bliksimpie files for aussiex... very easy to do and he even posted a "how to guide". will see if I can find it somewhere in my files. I have been adding a number of these to some airports. edit.. oops sorry i see you are passing on goodwood and might not need this
  12. I just dont have any words... absolute briliant..!
  13. thanks I almost fell off the chair laughing..! Carenado is known to be one of the companies where you pay to become a BETA tester.. and mentioning RW pilots mean absolute sweet all.. Carenado : Does this look like a 208? RW Pilot : Yeah it looks like a 208..! Carenado : Ok thanks for comming in, see you in 2 months when we release a new plane..!! We will then call you again to certified the plane..!
  14. The only 2 boys I C is hanging low and keeping a low profile..!!
  15. Ok I saw under specs for CPU 3770k: see "memory types" below Processor Number i7-3770K # of Cores 4 # of Threads 8 Clock Speed 3.5 GHz Max Turbo Frequency 3.9 GHz Intel® Smart Cache 8 MB Bus/Core Ratio 35 DMI 5 GT/s Instruction Set 64-bit Instruction Set Extensions SSE4.1/4.2, AVX Embedded Options Available No Lithography 22 nm Max TDP 77 W Recommended Customer Price TRAY: $332.00 BOX : $342.00 Memory Specifications Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 32 GB Memory Types DDR3-1333/1600 # of Memory Channels 2 Max Memory Bandwidth 25.6 GB/s ECC Memory Supported No Yes I have selected 2400 in BIOS. In CPUz it also show correctly as 2400 confirming the BIOS setting. I am noob, so SORRY if I dont understand the interaction of RAM and CPU. I am just worried that even though I am using 2400 ram it will not be really utilized to the max it can give. It is not that I am unhappy with my system. My system run very nice and smooth and just try to understand interaction of RAM and CPU as I understand that RAM is limited by what CPU can use. (that is waht I have read but I try to get my head around this if it is true or not)
  16. Sorry pleb with new machine I just bought a month ago a new system (short summary) -CPU: I7 3770k -Motherboard: ASUS Maximus V Formula (accept RAM up to 2800o/c) -RAM: 2x4gig Corsair Vengeance 2400 sticks -Full Watercooling Currently I have CPU running along at 4.6Ghz (with watercooling with awesome temps MAX just touching 70deg C. The highest 71 - mostly at 69-70) I read that memory is dependant on the CPU, meaning that if CPU is 1600 then you only need to have 1600 memory as the CPU is the limiter, meaning that even if I add 2400 sticks RAM into the memory slots then I will not see any difference. My Question: From the above and reading the CPU is now a "limiter" of my RAM, does that mean I have overkilled on RAM or am I totally missing the bus here or am I totally misanderstanding the "botteneck" discusion between RAM and CPU. I understood you need to get the highest possible RAM for that money can buy.. and therefore I did go for 2400 sticks..!
  17. I guess: C boys = Carenado as they are making the TBM850
  18. you first need to download the lua friction file from Pete's support site.
  19. Well I dont see anything about a release..!! so I will not get too exited.. the only thing I read in this tweet is an anouncement of a new product "on the cards".. Well at least I am not going to get my chrisymas spoiled when nothing is released but only an anouncement is being made.. if there is a release then well it will be a nice christmas present.. however I try not to read something into a tweet that is not there.. Well I cant see anything about a "release" so i dont get worked up at all..! Call me conservative..
  20. FSX one is pretty good. cannot comment on FS9
  21. Apart from the graphics card, (I have a GTX480), I have basically same machine. I see you only have one drive. again as I said, I only record to another drive.. never to the same drive as my FSX drive, almost always fluid videos..!
  22. Oh please..!! here is the UNOFFICIAL sub forum listed with all their planes. sub sub forums for each plane. http://forum.avsim.n...-support-forum/ here is the B200 sub susb forum..! http://forum.avsim.n...ing-air-fsxp3d/ here is the links to the discussion on the alert http://forum.avsim.n...conflict-alert/ see post 3 how to reneame the sound file see post no 4 how to switch on off.
