  1. Harald, No need to apologize. Thanks for testing. I'm perfectly happy with the lower water slider. I didn't know about this and had my water set to max from the beginning. Kiwi, I will have to double check my REX purchase in my account. I got it from simmarket and I noticed they're selling REX+Overdrive and standard REX (cheaper). I think there may be a charge to the upgrade as I have the original REX. I tried REX water the other day. It was nice but one thing really bothered me. I couldn't stand the sight of the vertical lines along the water in the distance. I tried several wave patterns and animations but it is always there, even with lower water setting. I have gone back to Zinertek. However, I came across one that I'm thinking about purchasing. I think it's called H2O water. I hope it looks good in lower setting because their preview vid, which I'm sure has water slider maxed, shows the pulsating. Feebee, I was thinking about that one. But it looks like all the water add ons pulsate at max setting. I have settled for the lower water setting and I like the look of it more. I will either try FE or H2O water next to see what kind of look they have. Thanks.
  2. sk1nny, Been a little busy and haven't had the time yet to fly yet. I'm going to do another test flight with lower water setting and see if it's still there. If I see it, I'll do a screen shot. Kiwi, I hope it's water related. I lowered my water slider so I will find out on my next flight. I'll report back once I find out the cause.
  3. I was fine and able to ignore this the first few times, but just ran into it again. Anybody have this problem? What happens is sometimes in the ocean, not too far from the coast, I would see a thin straight line of "ground texture" that extend about 2 miles across. I know the first time I encountered this was on a fresh install. Pretty weird and very rare. Normally I'd ignore it but the reason I brought it up is I found one on one of my favorite routes which is a short flight from Madrid to Ibiza using Aerosoft scenery for both airports. As I enter the open water before descending for Ibiza, I found this line. I'm not sure if it's water related because I had my water slider maxed out. I've lowered the slider and will do a test flight tonight to see if it's still there. Anybody else encounter this?
  4. Thanks Kiwi. I have both rex and zinertek. I'm using Zinertek at the moment. I didn't really have time to play around with rex water. I'll give rex water a try tonight.
  5. Hi Oliver, Which 777 are you referring to? There is Wilco and PSS. I'm still undecided as to which one to get when I'm ready to buy a 777. Maybe both? As for the Fokker 70/100, is this the one released by Flight1? I wish they would make a VC for it. 2d panels is the reason why I haven't tried it.
  6. I just saw a presentation vid of real REP on youtube. Very nice, I didn't see any pulsing of the water. Looks really nice too with the brighter and lighter colour. I'll give this a try tomorrow if it's easy to install. Interested to see the env bump enhancement too. I just hope hope it's easy to restore my settings if I don't like something.
  7. That! We can also do the same with smooth fps at KJFK, KLAS, KLAX, etc B)
  8. Hi Harald, I usually buy payware because I'm worried messing around with the files manually. I'm actually getting the water I'm looking for now following Ematheson's advice. I'll check out REP. So there is no pulsating there at max water slider? Ematheson mentioned that it's the way FS9 does water anamation and I think I've heard that before too. Ematheson, I had no idea the lower settings don't have the pulsating. I gave it a shot and I'm leaving it there for now. It seems that maxing out the water only adds a white wave texture that repeatedly turn on and off. I think It's giving me better fps at Fly Tampa Kai Tak also. Thanks for the help.
  9. Hi Zeljko, Thanks for the tip. I will keep it in mind. I think it's either a bug OR I forgot to save the panel state in the configurator. I did 3 more flights since then and no problem at all. Thanks again for the help.
  10. The title says it all. It doesn't really bother me that much because I fly airliners, but it would be nice to have water that doesn't pulsate. I have REX and currently using Zinertech water. Both of them have this issue. I'm thinking about trying out FS Water from Flight1's website. Anybody have this one?
  11. I think somehow the 727 is taking parts of the active panel state from the default cessna because in my default flight, the cessna is up and running. I don't encounter this problem if I set it for cold&dark or ready for taxi in the configurator. I'm used to flying heavy, with PMDG MD-11 and CLS DC-10 being used the most. So 155 can feel pretty fast on a small plane like the 727 lol. But I trust Ian and will try doing 155 approach from now on. I may back it off a bit until I get better if I find it too fast. Thanks again for all your help. Your posts and others on this thread has been a huge help for me and I really appreciate it.
  12. Thanks Harald. I'll have a look at it after this. Ran into a little problem. I'm not sure if it was like this from the start but today I noticed my IAS is showing 45 knots while sitting on the ground not doing anything. Started the sim again with the same result. Weird. Also, a few times now the plane is loading with engine 1 running when I had selected "before engine start" state. I may have to reinstall and see what happens. These are either bugs or something in my installation is not right. I have a feeling something might have gotten messed up in my installation because when I first got this, I loaded up the airplane without doing the default flight first. ***edit*** aah silly me. The IAS indicator's minimum is 45. I just loaded up a flight to test, I disabled parking brakes and hit full throttle. The numbers didn't start moving until the plane was over the indicated speed. I also set "ready for taxi" panel state and it came out right. I hope the engine 1 running is just a bug when I pick "before engine start". It has happened a few times. Sorry if I forgot to mention. The rudder problem I had in the beginning was when I started my flights before loading the default cessna/ksea. I had accidentally done that the first few times because I hadn't read the manual yet. I just checked out the link. Kiwiflyer mentioned 155 @ flaps 30. Is that speed normal for a 727 on approach? I'm not doubting him because he's a pilot, but just curious about the speed. I'm still a newb and have a lot to learn. I'll have a look at the charts in the manual.
  13. I still like to think that maybe one day one or two developers might change their mind and make us some nice new airliners. So far there is a possibility from iFly, but that's about it. I buy scale models and aviation dvd's from an aviation shop near the airport. In fact, there are two and they're side by side. They also sell FS9 and FSX, some add ons and flight sim hardware. Not a big selection but enough to get anyone started on their choice of sim, a pmdg aircraft, payware airport/sceneries and hardware. Very cool shop for people into aviation. They also have a 737ng simulator anyone can book. The gentleman that was working there told me FS9 is still selling and it's what he recommends for anyone buying a sim. So who knows. Maybe it's gaining popularity again.
  14. No worries, mate. I didn't take it as criticism  . In fact, I see my method as a shortcut, being too lazy to read the entire manual beforehand lol. I just checked again and yaw damper was off. No rudder issues. From the start I've been keeping the dampers off until I'm ready to engage a/p. I need to read the tutorial for this lol. I set off an alarm twice on my last flight. Not sure exactly what I did to turn it off the first time. I think it had to do with air pumps and internal air pressure. I have to say, out of all my add ons, this 727 is giving me the most intense experience :Whew: . Vor, manual throttle, a/p climb and descend trim, amazing weather radar. Wow! I'm loving this. And another thing I really dig is that now I can enable "turbulence on aircraft". We track vor signal by using hdg hold and throttle is manual. PMDG gets all weird with turbulence turned on using ASE. One thing I find strange is why the manual only give you weight/Vref speed for flaps 30 and 40. I thought most 727 land using flaps 25? I can't wait to do another flight after my work out in a few hours:).
  15. Zeljko, Thanks for the info. I will consider the flight planner in the future. At the moment I'm perfectly happy with the default flight plan. I'm doing vor to vor with it. Yeah, I use ATC, that's why I have to create a flight plan within FS9. I'm still a newb and learning slowly. Just looking at approach charts make my head spin lol. And thanks for the explanation on loading the default flight. Harald, Thanks. I should save the flight like you suggested because I still need a lot of practice and it's less work to have it saved and just load it up next time I want to fly. The switches are fun like you mentioned, but at this moment I want to get flying, that's why I use ready for taxi. what I'm doing is, while in cruise, I open the different panels and study them so I have a good idea of where everything is. That way, when I'm ready for cold and dark, the instructions can be followed easily and more efficiently. The rudder problem I get when I don't start with default flight is that it would shake violently from side to side. Sometimes only a few degrees and sometimes a lot more than a few. And if I input full rudder right for example, the rudder would only rotate no more than 5 degrees but the nose gear work fine. I don't think the yaw dampers are on in taxi mode. Because I used the same state after loading the default cessna and no rudder problem. Thanks for the link on the INS. I just learned vor recently and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I will try the INS when I'm a little better with the 727. My only complaint would be the up/down trim for the a/p. I wish they allowed us to assign buttons for it, so I don't have to go through the awkward position of looking/adjusting the trim and the vertical speed indicator at the same time. Not really a big deal as I usually find ways to be more efficient once I get used to a new add on plane.
  16. Oh my! This is a VERY challenging plane to fly. I did a practice flight from KLAX to KLAS last night and I was sweating throughout the whole flight  . I finally figured out how to use the primitive autopilot system. What a challenge with the a/p trim! ATC kept telling me to expedite this and that because I was having a hard time keeping up lol. Overall, I'm really enjoying this. It's going to take a lot of time to fly this perfectly and I like that. I start with engines running by picking the "ready for taxi" state in the configuration. Just a question to you guys using the DF. I get rudder problems and issues with panel states if I don't pick the aircraft while in the default Cessna KSEA flight. My rudder was acting all funky when I started it without loading the default flight first. I finally saw the section in the manual about this and just need some clarification. -If I want to do a flight, first I use the configuration manager and set my aircraft panel state and passenger load. -I save that and open up FS9. -I load the default Cessna flight at KSEA. -When I'm inside the Cessna at KSEA, I open the drop down menu, scroll to "aircraft" and change it to the DF 727. -Then, when I'm in the 727, I use the drop down menu again and click on "Flight Planner" from the drop down menu bar. -I make my flight plan from there by picking a new departure and arrival airports and do the flight. Is this the proper way to do it? I ask because the manual is not very clear on it or I'm having a little difficulty understanding it.
  17. Ha ha! That's it! ^_^ I still haven't flown it yet, but took some time to take in the visuals. The VC and exeternal models look amazing. Even though the VC is not high res. it has that really nice vintage and worn out look. I can't believe it's an old add on. It really looks up to date for me. I tried spooling up the engines and the sound is also fantastic. So I'm going to hold off on buying the Turbine Sound Studios sound pack for now. I've found the most important things so far but one thing I haven't been able to find is the vertical speed adjustment wheel. I'm gonna do a quick glance at the tutorial before I fly this plane. Can't wait to try it out after I finish all my house work. Thanks again.
  18. Not good. Purchased from Flight1 and just finished installing. I loaded up FS9 to see if the aircraft is there. It is and I exit FS9. I tried to launch the configuration tool and it won't open. I get a 429 runtime error with the message "ActiveX Component Can't Create Object". I googled the problem and tried several solutions offered which were placing files in the C: windows folders. Nothing works. I'm not even going to try and fly this aircraft if I can't access the configuration tool. Text o Matic opens up just fine. I really don't know what else to do. Well, it's 5:30 am and I must get ready to sleep. I'll do some more digging tomorrow and see what I can find.
  19. I agree with the FS9'ers. With all the add ons already available, we can still enjoy FS9 for a looooong time. Not to mention Aerosoft sceneries are still being released for FS9. Doesn't matter if FS9 is 10 years old. We enjoy it. I don't understand why some people always feel the need to put down FS9. I also have FSX with add ons installed on the same machine and get good performance out of it, but I still prefer FS9 and fly it 99% of the time. Great to hear iFly is working on something for FS9.
  20. Hi guys, I'm having problems hearing ATC when I'm up in the air with the PMDG MD-11. I'm talking about the way FS9 handle cockpit sounds in the VC. Here's what happens, while in the VC, I'm sure those who use FS9 know that when you turn your head to the right from the captain's seat, you hear some ambient noise. The problem is, in the MD-11, while in-flight, the ambient noise is too loud while I'm looking to the right, adjusting alt, speed, etc on the panel. I have to listen really hard in order to hear ATC's commands. I have tried using the sound settings suggested in the MD-11 manual and it makes it a lot worse. Can't understand what ATC is telling me. So since I got this add on, I've left every sound setting at 50 and jacked up ATC to 100. I can hear ATC but not as clear as I'd like to. Anybody know how to lower that ambient noise to a more realistic level? Thanks
  21. I came across this while reading the DF 727 reviews. This one is from flightsim.com... The flight dynamics seem to be fairly on the mark, bearing in mind that 727s were reasonably maneuverable while tending to remain where you last pointed them. Once in flight, the hallmark of this bird was a significant excess of power at the lower flight levels and the sim delivers precisely that, so watch those throttles when you level out at the first altitude restriction. As usual, I didn't sit down and check power settings against every combination of speed and climb, life being too short, but on the whole, the 727 felt right. I'm going to make my purchase tonight. I was suppose to do it last night but was too tired when I returned home from work. Looking forward to flying this old school plane. I'll be getting the DF version. I see that Flight1 has 2 livery packs for download. I sure hope they have the Air Canada livery.
  22. I've basically given up FSX and focusing on FS9 now. The smoothness of FS9 spoiled me. I flew FSX for over a year before trying out FS9. I've spent A LOT on FSX add ons. My plan is to wait 5 years or so, get a new PC and hopefully by then, FSX can run as good as FS9 with max settings with add ons.
  23. Sorry, I missed your reply there. Even though the PMDG MD-11 is my favorite, I also own most of the CLS stuff. Been flying the CLS DC-10 regularly for the past 2 years lol. I'm not that picky and enjoy both the complex and simple aircraft add ons. When I sim, I set my imagination to vivid  . I just took a look at the Flight1 site for the DF727 and saw this... Windows XP Recommended - Windows XP is the official operating system that is supported for use with the Greatest Airliners: 727. It may work with other Microsoft operating systems, however this is not supported by Flight One. Can anybody confirm if it will run on Win7 Ultimate?
  24. Cool. Thanks Dillon. It's like the CLS DC-10. You have to use the 2d panel pop up for the engineer's panel.
  25. LOL. It's all good. Been happening quite a bit here. We're used to it. I'm too scared to do flights into or out of major hubs in FSX. Kills my fps. I also run UT2 in FSX. Not too bad with 40% traffic at CYYZ, but KJFK, KLAX, EHAM is a stuttery mess for me.
