  1. For sure. I'll have to see if they offer a discount for those who already purchased the FSX version because I already have the FSX version but only flew it once and uninstalled it. For some reason it turned my FSX into a slide show. 12fps avg dropping down to single digits. Since I made the move to FS9 in the summer, I haven't really touched FSX. I'll probably start flying FSX again when average CPU speed reaches 5ghz. I wonder if that's enough for it lol.
  2. Did you check if they released a service pack for it? The ground poking through sounds like a mesh issue. Did you install any mesh terrain? As far as I know Bdoaviation makes some solid products. I plan to get their Soekarno Hatta and Juanda in the next few weeks.
  3. Harald, Maybe the file you downloaded got corrupted. You might want to try a fresh download again. I can't say I got any flashing switching from 2D to VC or looking around. I have almost every effect checked. I'm getting some nice intense graphics. If anybody want to try my settings, here they are. It takes away the greyish look of FS9. Turn on the effects and adjust sepia. That's all I've done so far and it looks fantastic. // Set to 1 for ON or 0 for OFF #define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 0 //[0 or 1] SMAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines. #define USE_LUMASHARPEN 0 //[0 or 1] LumaSharpen : Also sharpens the antialiased edges which makes them less smooth - I'm working on fixing that. #define USE_BLOOM 1 //[0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_HDR 0 //[0 or 1] HDR : Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_TECHNICOLOR 1 //[0 or 1] TECHNICOLOR : Attempts to mimic the look of an old movie using the Technicolor three-strip color process (Techicolor Process 4) #define USE_DPX 1 //[0 or 1] Cineon DPX : Should make the image look like it's been converted to DXP Cineon - basically it's another movie-like look similar to technicolor. #define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 1 //[0 or 1] Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights (avoids clipping) #define USE_TONEMAP 1 //[0 or 1] Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. 4. Hi Krister, Thanks a lot for the informative post. I think I will get both the ifly and PMDG. Visuals is not that big of a deal. I understand it's an older add on and it's only $35 on the Aerosoft site.
  5. This thing is fantastic. So far I've enabled everything except for HDR, Vignette and Split Screen. It's way too blue with the default setting so I adjusted the Sepia settings. The result is excellent. The level of brightness and color is very realistic now. I've played around with FXAA a lot and I could never get it to look like this. Harald, I've spent about 30 mins flying so far and I don't notice any fps hit (I have disabled screen text in fs9 cfg). If it's there, I'm guessing it's 1-2fps like ENB. Thanks again WingZ.
  6. Thanks WingZ. Was just taking a look at the website and one effect that looks interesting is Cineon DPX : Makes the image look like it was converted from film to Cineon DPX. Can be used to create a "sunny" look. I have a feeling that with the right setting combinations we might be able to pull off graphics like some of the FS vids on youtube that use effects from Sony Vegas. I'm going to give this one a try.
  7. Seriously!? That screenshot looks epic. The contrast is fantastic. I switch between ENB and FXAA at the moment. Is that shot from the default SweetFX setting?
  8. Thanks a lot for all your help guys. Sorry, I didn't make it clear on my original post. I plan to get the ifly 737 very soon. I was actually suppose to get it last week, but when I was browsing through Flight1's website, I got too excited and ended up getting Ultimate Terrain Canada, Alaska, USA and Europe. Also got Ground Environment Pro. That's when I realized I had spent a little too much  . I was only suppose to get the ifly lol. The reason I'm interested in the PMDG 737 is because going by PMDG's description, it looks like it's somewhat "lighter" compared to ifly when it comes to system simulations. I'm a huge fan of the "lite" aircrafts. I really enjoy the CLS stuff and Overland is not bad. I was thinking maybe the older PMDG 737 is somewhere between a CLS and the ifly. Don't get me wrong. I still enjoy the more complicated aircrafts (PMDG MD-11), but I find myself flying the easier ones more often lately. So do you guys think I'll still like the PMDG?
  9. Won't a higher AA setting fix it? Judging by the pic, it looks like the OP is using a low AA setting. I also get shimmer on low settings. Also, some systems will make things shimmer if the Mip mapping setting within FS9's display settings is too high. Just a thought. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Hi guys, I want to get the PMDG 737. I see that they released two different ones for FS9. Problem is I can't find it for sale on the PMDG website and has been sold out at the aviation shop near my house for a long time. I'm only able to find one of them on the aerosoft website on a disc. It's the version that also includes the 700 series. I would also like to find the other 800/900 release but can't find it anywhere. So I will be ordering the boxed one from aerosoft. Can anybody tell me if it's a good one? I'm just a little surprised many stores are not selling them, including PMDG's website.
  11. Echofox and Ron, Thanks for your suggestions. Got it. I've set the very minimum setting (below the detent) on the throttle control as F1. Once I increase the throttle to taxi and bring it back down and apply parking brakes, the aircraft will creep very slowly. So I just bring my throttle past the minimum detent all the way down and the creep will stop or decrease by a lot. I noticed that the issue is a little different with my PMDG MD-11. I have to add "repeat" to the F1 setting on my throttle and keep it there when I'm not moving. Looks like this is the best I can do and it's no longer an issue because the creep has been minimized to the point that it doesn't really make a difference anymore. Thanks again
  12. Hmmm.... I took off a few more times after changing the fuel flow gain back to 0.002 and the problem doesn't seem as bad this time. In fact, it's behaving a lot better than before. I guess I'll have to blame it on some weird weather turbulence for the odd behavior I experienced on my first post. Even though it's running much better now, I notice that when I'm at 5000ft going 250knots, N1 would fluctuate as much as 9%. So N1 would keep fluctuating up and down between 60% and 69%, for example. Is this normal for the default 737 performance? I'm running Active Sky Evolution if that makes a difference.
  13. Just ran into another problem in FS9. I purchased the Overland Boeing package a few days ago because I wanted some more "lite" aircrafts in my collection. I tried it out and the autothrottle was horrible. It's having problems getting to my selected speed. Let's say after my initial climb 7000, I activate a/t for 250 knots and in order to achieve this, 80% N1 is required (just an example). What happens is the N1 needle would move up to 90%, then drop to 65%, then up to 90 again and down to 65 and so on. Even when I'm not looking at the N1 indicators, I can clearly hear the engines constantly spool up and down. The reason I wrote default 737 on the title is because I'm pretty sure the Overland 737 uses the same configuration settings as the default plane. I tested it with the default 737 and the autothrottle behave exactly the same as the Overland. I haven't found any solutions from my research. So far I found one thing that helps but not 100%. What I did was go into the aircraft.cfg for the Overland model and changed fuel_flow_rate=0.002 to fuel_flow_rate=0.1. After that, I did a test and the problem only occured once during descent. It was having problems keeping N1 stable while maintaining 230 knots. But this time the changes in N1 fluctuations is much smaller. Probably a few % up and downs. I can still hear the engines spooling up and down but at a much faster rate. Is there a way to solve this issue?
  14. Ronzie, Thanks for the tips. I don't have any creep when the engines are off. Only when they're on. I've ran the calibration wizard within FS9 for my Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant. They check out fine. But here's something weird. With my Saitek throttle at idle, the N1 is sometimes almost 1% higher than what I get by pressing F1. When I press F1 at the gate, the planes usually stop creeping (with engines running). But as I start taxiing to the runway, the problem comes back. Usually, by the time i have to hold short, pressing F1 slows down the creep. It will creep at a much slower pace if I do that. Echofox, Thanks. I'll give it a try. Though I have to admit. After flying a few days with this problem. I can't say it really bothers me. It only bothers me when I have a very long waiting time for the runway due to high traffic. Not moving for almost 10 mins will move my plane probably 20ft or so. Thanks again for your help, guys.
  15. First you need to install FS Recorder. It installs into FS9 and you access it through the top menu bar. You can google this and download it from the main site. It's a free add on for FS9. It records all the data from your flight so you can watch a replay of it after you stop recording. You'll have to assign a record/stop and load replay buttons to FS Recorder. So if you're doing your approach, whenever you're ready, just hit the record button. Replays from FS Recorder can only be viewed within FS9, similar to the default "instant replay" feature in FS9. Then you need a screen capture program. Fraps (payware) seems to be the most popular. They do offer a free trial version, but it only records 30 sec clips and leaves a small "fraps.com" watermark on the top of the screen. When you're ready. Load the saved replay from FS Recorder, switch to wing view, and record what's on the screen with fraps. Some FS9 aircrafts have wing view built in. Others don't. I believe you need DBS Walk and Follow in order to get wing view on aircrafts that don't have one. Keep in mind, the files created by fraps will be huge. They are uncompressed HD captures from your screen. To finish your video. You can use an editing software where you can add other sounds or music. When you're done editing, save it. The software should add it's own compression to your video so it takes up less space. After that you're ready for a youtube upload. I'm cheap so I use Windows Movie Maker which is free but I had to do some changes to edit in 1080p. Also, it only saves in 24fps, so Fraps has to be set to record at 24fps for me. It's easy and fun once you get the hang of it. Hope this helps.
  16. Paul, It happens to all my aircrafts. I'll remember to move the fuel cut off lever to low idle next time I try a prop plane and see what happens. Thanks. Echofox, Thanks for the help. I just downloaded it and read the section about brakes. Unfortunately his tweak is for the toe brake. A get the creeping problem with my parking brake set. I've never checked if it creeps with the toe brakes. I'll have to do that.
  17. I've spent the last few days googling this problem but I can't find a solution. Some people say it's a bug in FS9, some say other things. What happens is when I have my engines on idle with the parking brakes on, all my aircrafts slooooowly creeps forward. I would say it creeps about 1"-2" every 5-10 seconds or so. It's not easy to spot when you're doing the usual things in the VC, but when I zoom VERY close to the ground, it's quite clear that the aircraft is moving forward on its own. I have found a few threads online from other forums talking about a fix you can download but none of the members can find it. I wonder if one even exists? Does anybody know what's causing this? I'd really hate to do a complete re-install with all my add ons and only to find out it doesn't fix the problem. I really can't say if I had this problem before. If I did, I never noticed it until a few days ago. Thanks
  18. Hi guys, Is there an add on panel I can buy that will automatically calculate my V speeds and approach speeds? I just got the A300/310/Beluga add on from CLS and it's an F-Lite model. I have other F-Lite models but this one is a little too "lite". There is no working FMC, so I can't get my speeds. Been doing my Vr between 140-150 knots and approach at around 160. Just treating it like a default plane at the moment.
  19. Nevermind. I figured it out. I had the zoom function assigned to my yoke and I used "Increase/Decrease Selection Slightly". I changed it to "Increase/Decrease Selection" and all is good.
  20. Ouch. So sorry for all the questions guys. Looks like I've ran into another little problem. I have spent the last hour trying to figure this out but I can't. I've cleared all the pre-programmed key assignments but the problem still persists. I didn't notice this during my quick tests before because I wasn't zooming in and out much at all. Here's what happens. When I'm on the ground, I can zoom in and out no problem. But as soon as I'm airborne, every time I zoom in or out in the VC, my view would also pan all over the place. So if I'm trying to zoom straight ahead, as I zoom, the view would move to the left, or right, sometimes up or down. Almost as if the pilot is looking around all over the place. Any ideas?
  21. Thanks so much, guys. I had to move the dll file somewhere else because renaming it didn't do anything lol. Got it registered and I'm gonna do a flight soon. I can't wait. So far I'm only using it for the VC effects, and I have to say, I think the effects are much better than EZDOK for FSX. I will get DBS Walk and Follow in a few days so I can start making FS9 movies. Man oh man, I just LOVE FS9!
  22. Sometimes the palette created for FSX will not work properly in FS9. The FSX palette I have makes my FS9 colors much too dark. In your enbseries cfg file, look for Usepalettetexture under the [colorCORRECTION] heading and insert 0. So it should be Usepalettetexture=0. ENB will now ignore your palette texture. You can also delete the palette texture if you want after setting it to 0. Now you can do all your tweaking within the enbseries cfg file. Disable all effects except for bloom (under [EFFECT]) and play around with your [bLOOM] and [colorCORRECTION] settings. I'm also interested in some good ENB settings for FS9. I seem to have a love/hate relationship with the ENB settings I have. I'm not using it at the moment. Waiting to find a setting I can enjoy all the time.
  23. Thanks Doorstep. I looked in the modules folder but there is no F1.dll. There is one called F1_view.dll. Is this the one? Just want to make sure I don't delete something important. Can I just rename it to something like F1_viewHHH.dllHHH? Thanks
  24. Hi again guys. I'm still waiting for them to send me my registration key so I've been using it only where it works at the moment, which is KSEA. I love the VC effects but have a problem with my middle mouse wheel. I've disabled the middle mouse zoom, pan and move in Active Camera's option menu, but when I scroll it up or down, the pilot's head position moves forward and back. So it's impossible to turn the heading, alt, speed, etc knobs in the VC. I know there's got to be a way to keep my middle mouse button/wheel the way it was by FS9 default. How did you guys stop this from occurring? Thanks
