  1. If you do not own the payware FlyTampa scenery, and you want a better, more accurate scenery/AFCAD than default, then this is a MUST GET! You can download it from the AVSIM library here: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=195938 This is just a FREE scenery without advanced textures. Native P3D objects used, with the exception for the Ground Marking and the Concourse-D terminal, that are done using Google Sketchup. Looks basic, but accurate, and it works. After hard work getting things to work the way i wanted, here's a scenery update for OMDB. This update will help those not owning FlyTampa payware to use an accurate airport based on the FlyTampa skeleton. This scenery is based on Google maps and the FlyTampa base AFCAD (default FSX/P3D AFCAD). Every Runway, Gate and taxiway is right on the actual spot with a very small error margin. The new Concourse-D terminal for airlines other than Emirates is now added, with a basic terminal building design using Google Sketchup for better visuals. So, What's changed from default and the FlyTampa? - The new Concourse-D terminal east of the existing Terminal 1. Terminal replaces the old Emirates Sky Cargo terminal, and servers all other visiting airlines. - Apron Q used by FlyDubai is added. - Extra runway rapid exits added. - Extra parking gates in the C apron according to the latest charts. - Extra Taxiways connecting to the runways according to the charts. - Ground marking for Gates and taxiways! (A, B, C, D and F aprons). - Placed FSX/P3d default Dubai scenery objects to add a little bit of life around the airport and the city. I haven't added neither any of the new G stands, not the S parking stands. I will do that in a following update. Appreciate positive comments and critique! Regards,
  2. Great read, thanks for sharing. I would like to add that, as of May 2015, EK has increased the Cost Index for all flight except for the ULRs to CI 200. Initial increase was to CI 400, as fuel prices plunged, then brought down to 300, then 200. There was an endless debate on the forums regarding that decision. ULR flights, across the Atlantic and Cargo flights are using a CI 66. The change enables EK to enhance the OTP and protect connections. (If only it wasn't for the DESDI hold... ) Now to the PMDG: the PMDG seems to burn less fuel than the fuel burn increase calculated by PFPX for the same burn bias. For example: If you use a Cruise fuel burn bias of 96.5% for a default CI 66-70, planning for a higher CI of 200 would return more fuel than the PMDG would burn at that CI. This is probably something that would be fine-tuned within the fuel burn logic of the PMDG. To counter that effect, if I'm to plan for a CI 200 flight, I'd enter CI 350 into the FMS to be close to the fuel burn suggested by PFPX. Enjoy your high-speed flights!
  3. Actually, I just noticed that the dynamic head movement has completely disappeared with the latest 737 SP! I do not fly much with the VC, however, I just noticed that while pushing back and starting the engines today during push back. I was at ENGM and not sure if this has anything to do with the northern latitude. Will try again from Dubai or further south to see if I get any DHM. Regards,
  4. That may require more research then if it is a 5.1 bug. I think I will just go by the quick two presses, the wailer and siren always disturb my baby's sleep lol.
  5. To everyone who asked whether we are hitting the AP disconnect button twice, I didn't have the time to go into length and explain in details: I have chosen the 2 press option and performing two presses works perfectly. The problem which started either after the installation of SP1b or after configuring 5.1 sound on my computer is that if I press the disengage button on my yoke once, the walier sound starts which makes sense, but there's no way to disable that wailer by a thousand more presses on the disengage button and even by reengaging the auto-pilot, nothing works other than changing the sound device to let's say the HDMI yhen back to the default one through the fms sound options page. Looks like a bug to me and I shall be logging a ticket if no one rlse has done so.
  6. I think that this maybe be related to the sound configuration on machine. I started to have this problem that the AP wailer won't go silent even with a 1000 presses. I didnt have this problem prior to installing the 5.1 sound set. If I do the 2 presses quickly and the wailer doesn't go off, that's not a problem. The only was to silence it was to go to the sound settings in the FMS, then changing the sound device to a different one, then back again to the default device. That's pretty troublesome when flying online with atc.
  7. AffinityMask=14 worked for me without a single freeze for the whole 7 hour 11 minutes flight last night. Before that AffinityMask=7 worked as well but apparently the first core was shared with the other apps so 7 wasnt as smooth as it was yesterday.
  8. From long 8 minutes to ZERO freezes. I'm a happy customer. AffinityMask 14 seems to be the setting I wanted for a quadcore processor hyperthreaded. I would only fall back by a second or two if I change tasks while in the sim. So I confirm the above for affinityMask 14.
  9. I'm having that and it triggers my OC'ness and is quite annoying. I have reinstalled FSUIPC in order to make the weatehr radar to work, which it did. I will try what you said with a freshly created FSX.cfg and see how things work. I'm hating my VC performance and I have nothing to lose.
  10. Just an update on the topic. I have tested a security emergency diversion to Shannon EINN while En route Cairo to JFK. The RTE2 worked flawlessly and I did not lose VNAV information, and LNAV/VNAV took my 777 down to the runway without a glitch, except for me taking control on final and doing a very unstable final approach Here's the URL for the stream recording: http://www.twitch.tv/dynamania/b/553747546 I won't be logging a ticket for now. I could not reproduce the issue.
  11. Just a quick follow up: I went out and just got back home and 10 hours 43 minutes into the flight and the UTC time is dead smack with the pc time where I left it. That means that no freezes happened since I left. This is happy new. My understanding is that my i7 2.20Ghz processor is physically 4 cores but virtually 8 cores. How doea the affinitymask 7 work in this case?
  12. Finally the affinitymask=7 seems to have solved it for me with my i7 processor. Brilliant.
  13. I have just tried a diversion to FNLU with the -300ER while enroute from Sao Paulo to Dubai last night, and the FMS got screwed up when activating the RTE2, as i've lost the VNAV and startedto get errors but managed to land as the ILS saved the day. I think this is not yet fixed in the SP1 release.
  14. I second that. I am somehow relieved that the freezes are being investigated. I've tried everything: tweaking, GPU and processor fan control, the pauses are just 10 minutes long and just heart shattering, Other than that, the PMDG 777 is something the programmers who worked on should be very, very, very proud of.
  15. Nah I'm alright Work and my little junior are keeping me busy. I too reckon that they will release the airplane on a weekend, surprises might happen though.
  16. And I keep on checking the PMDG website every hour to see if the -200LR banner have been magically stretched to now span the whole width my the screen. Hour upon hour.. It's those days of anticipation again..
  17. Looking at the figures for the B77F, they are adequate to be used for the -300ER performance calculations.
  18. scandinavian13, I understand where you're coming from and I personally think that streaming game play could be superficial and filled up with superfluous speech. I wouldn't be watching a Live stream in most cases, but for what it is worth here are a few of points: First, I for one was asked to stream short hops during VATSIM events, as VA members wanted to see how a flight is conducted from a private pilot's perspective. Second, those streams are actually saved on the channel so anyone could watch them afterwards same as they do on Youtube at their convenience. Third, you're given the options to share those streams to a Youtube channel, or share them via social media networks. Having said the above, for me (and that's my personal opinion) streaming is considered to be the platform I use to record stuff without having to stage the show and lay the ground each time I want to record. As I said earlier, due to the lack of time and enthusiasm being being a full time working professional, a father and responsible for a family, I found that streaming is an all-in-one solution for me. I know real world commercial pilots who stream FSX stuff to demonstrate procedures. EDIT: Also many simmers out there would like to see somehow accurate flows and procedures, with the majority of youtube videos just showing a takeoff and a landing, with mostly incorrect information, and they can't or don't want to buy online training just to be able to play a game. I am 100% against payware online FSX training as in my very personal opinion I find it an underhanded way of getting your money for nothing real. In conclusion, if Luke's problem was the FPS due to fraps being an fps destroyer, I just wanted to propose an alternative. Cheers :-)
  19. Hey Luke, have you tried online streaming? You basically setup your game capture, sound and voice capture and you're set go. You may wish to contemplate streaming too! I have started streaming on twitch.tv and the fps is alright -Having done essential tweaks to the streaming agent OBS. I've also started streaming some tutorials with commentary to the guys at my VA and I think it's a great platform to post videos, especially when you don't have the time nor the enthausiasm to edit videos before posting.
  20. For a while I thought you were @EGLL77W..
  21. If only it wasn't for your unrepresented, horrible, terrible, unbelievable, unacceptable mistake landing with 42 tonnes of fuel on board with auto brakes off to test how your toe brakes will stop the plane
  22. Hello Kyle, I know that you did not snap out of nothing, and I'm sure that many others like myself knew you were undeniably and obviously joking with someone in the same team as you are, however, someone actually didn't get it. And I felt sorry you had to take the weight of the world on your shoulder, so if only you could point out that you were joking and just let it go, you'd let go of much pressure you really don't need. Relax and keep it up. :good:
  23. Last week I felt really amused to see my aircrafts shaking briefly as they go into a meduim-sized cloud. However, after last night's horrible approach into Kuala Lumpur with the 777X andwith thunderstorms in the vicinity, I lowered the cloud turbulence in ASN to 40 to no avail. The landing into WMKK and the takeoff were horrible, as I was not able to control the speed of the aircraft, I landed past the TDZ. I think that turbulence in ASN is way too much. The speed tape was like a Yoyo, literally.
  24. http404 replied to cmbaviator's topic in PMDG 777
Hello Camille, In addition to the previous comments that the real 777 does not initiate the step climb automatically, while the PMDG sim has a built-in option for that, in order for this function wo work correctly you will need to consider the following: 1. In the VNAV Cruise page, you need to specify a step climb size. You would need to type in "2000" into the LSK4 for the STEP, which in combination with the Auto Step Climb enabled will automatically take you to the next optimal altitude without having to set the altitude on the MCP. 2. If you are using a flight planner and would like to step climb at the planned schedule instead (as opposed to the FMC planned steps), then you would enter your steps on the LEGS page (FL350S) and also in the VNAV CRZ page enter the 2000 value for the STEP. 3. The Auto Step Climb won't trigger automatically if you set the "STEP" size to 0. I haven't yet tried the behaviour with the STEP size zero and setting the MCP altitude to the next altitude without pressing the knob. Hope that clears things up.
  25. Exactly my thoughts. Could be. Yes it is the APU. I second that. APU intake open. That's right. APU intake. :excl:
