  1. Programs do not store all their files in the install folder, they also install user files and registry entries that they require to run. I also have FSX installed on a dedicated drive and coincidentally I also have it assigned E: as the drive letter. My FSX config file (fsx.cfg) is located in "C:\Users\<enter your username here>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg". That's for Win 7 or Vista, for other operating systems it will be different. Actually come to think of it, copy and paste this into the file explorer address bar "%appdata%\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg" (without the quotes) and hit enter and it should open. If it doesn't, it's probably missing although I doubt this as FSX will create a new one if it is not found.
  2. I've had this issue about 4 or 5 times now, during descent oil pressure starts dropping and the temp starts climbing rapidly, if you don't routinely increase and decrease the thrust then both engines will flame-out pretty quickly. I'm almost certain it's a bug and not a feature unless there's something obscure I'm missing to do with engine management. Thought SP1 would fix it but it just happened to me again and disabling service based failures made no difference. The issues I think it could be - 1) Loading a saved flight, I usually leave air con and grd pwr attached when i save my flight. PMDG did mention something to do with panel states and sp1 on a post somewhere here but i followed those instructions and deleted my panel states so I should be sweet, right? 2) Leaving the flight paused (at TOD) for a long duration. 3) Using autostart, havent tried manually putting the fuel on yet. 4) FsPassengers conflict Going to do another flight now and load a new flight with a default aircraft and then switch to 777, also going to load default C&D panel state. I'll probably still auto start as i really doubt it's the issue and it is rather convenient.
  3. Awesome! Thanks for clearing that up, I thought they might've meant the new version, just wanted to be sure.
  4. Thanks, great summary, just one question I still have unanswered; if I had FTXG and FTXG:Vector can I still install the standard issue FS Global 2010 and Ultimate Packages under that? In other words how necessary is the FTX compatible version of FS Global for it to work with FTXG:Vector?
  5. Yep keep getting this issue and it's definitely not panel states, I've restarted FSX in between and loaded up cold and dark and the used the default panel state. Product is not usuable at this point.
  6. Ok so I just ran into the same problem again  and I worked out why your instructions didn't work for me last time... After editing the above .cfg entries you must rebuild your shader cache. To do so go to %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders and delete everything in that folder, then run FSX and it will rebuild the files. Thanks again for the info! Thanks! I hadn't come across that one, looks like we've covered all bases now. ------------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately I tried out DX10 again the other day for the first time in a long while and even with the texture fixes installed and both a clean and tweaked .cfg the performance was almost half of what I get in DX9. That and the incompatibility with Nvidia Inspector AA means I most likely won't be going back to DX10. :(

  8. Haha wow I did not look at those dates, my apologies. The problem actually just went away after I did a reinstall, never found out what was actually causing it. Thanks Dave but I made sure I set the AP correctly several times on different routes that's why it was so puzzling.
  9. I think I found a solution, if you go into FSX weather settings and tick the "disable turbulence effects on aircraft" box, it may fix it for you. I read somewhere that it is due the highly realistic flight model and completely unrealistic FSX turbulence
  10. Yeah I've just about had it with the PMDG 744. The autopilot won't follow the flightplan, simple as that. I've spent hours on forums, doing test flights, running through various checklists, troubleshooting the autopilot in flight with real dynamic weather, with weather smoothing, with clear weather, with a static weather theme. I think it may have something to do with the magnetic shift at the poles or something 'cos it seems to be worse the further north you go (haven't tried south and really can't be bothered).
  11. Still no fix for this? If you've worked it out please please let the rest of us know
  12. I have the same problem, over and over again people suggest pilot error. It's not pilot error, everything is configured correctly . The VOR LOC hold is not working in nav nor gps mode, aircraft just rolls to the right without limitation. I have installed the b738_gaufix mod if that could be affecting it somehow. I was also using FsP when it happened
  13. Yeah I've used that in the past and it's been great but this time I followed the install guide to the letter and then used that and I was getting 6fps lol, (Mind you I'm only getting 10 now lol). I don't think it works for newer graphics cards. I used to have an OC'd GTS450 and it worked great on that. Thanks for the tip though. I'm upgrading to an 3570K soon and getting a more decent board (the one I have is an el-cheapo - hence the DPC latency) so hopefully that will be the end of my FSX dilemmas.
  14. Here's a good post to read that somehow eluded me before. http://www.simforums...topic33172.html It's not really making any difference for me at the moment though haha. Getting rid of the bufferpool cut my frames in half, so trying to work out a middle ground.
  15. DUDE YES!!! Thankyou so much, that did the trick. I left the rest of the cfg as default and added the entries in under [GRAPHICS] and it worked. I must have mucked something up, weird though because it didn't seem to happen after i tweaked the cfg. Anyway I'll start adding the tweaks back in one by one and if I can isolate the problematic entry I shall let you know. THE CULPRIT - It was the bufferpools entry lol. It worked fine when i reloaded in game but for some reason didn't like the setting upon program restart. I did think that I shouldn't be using it as my GPU far exceeds my CPU, but it *seemed* to be making things better I'm going to add other tweaks one by one and il let you know if any other issues crop up.
  16. Sorry man was typing this didn't see your post, trying it now I guess by process of elimination I can rule out shaders and cfg? Does this section of aircraft cfg look normal? I've never looked a this section before thanks again [airplane_geometry] wing_area = 163.0 wing_span = 33.0 wing_root_chord = 8.3 wing_dihedral = -1.0 wing_incidence = 5.0 wing_twist = 0 oswald_efficiency_factor= 0.60 wing_winglets_flag = 0 wing_sweep = 30.0 wing_pos_apex_lon = 4.0 wing_pos_apex_vert = 3.0 htail_area = 0 htail_span = 0 htail_pos_lon = 0 htail_pos_vert = 0 htail_incidence = 0 htail_sweep = 0 vtail_area = 6 vtail_span = 2 vtail_sweep = 0 vtail_pos_lon = 3 vtail_pos_vert = -1 elevator_area = 0 aileron_area = 0 rudder_area = 0 elevator_up_limit = 37.0 elevator_down_limit = 35.0 aileron_up_limit = 20.0 aileron_down_limit = 20.0 rudder_limit = 0 elevator_trim_limit = 20.0 spoiler_limit = 0 spoilerons_available = 0 aileron_to_spoileron_gain = 0 min_ailerons_for_spoilerons= 0 min_flaps_for_spoilerons = 0 auto_spoiler_available = 0 spoiler_extension_time = 0 positive_g_limit_flaps_up = 4.0 //Design G load tolerance (positive, flaps up) positive_g_limit_flaps_down= 4.0 //Design G load tolerance (positive, flaps down) negative_g_limit_flaps_up = -2.0 //Design G load tolerance (negative, flaps up) negative_g_limit_flaps_down= -2.0 //Design G load tolerance (negative, flaps down) load_safety_factor = 1.5 //Design G load safety factor
  17. Ok so I let it rebuild cfg and I got this with the untouched rebuilt fsx.cfg Don't you just love FSX lol Going to revert back to old one, thanks for the suggestion all the same, seems like this is some seriously random issue Update: Old one restored textures, but the planes are still messed up. Also this is occuring for every single plane.
  18. Thanks for the link - gave it a shot, no dice. Still loads up as above and even just in the aircraft preview screen fps appears very low. I'll leave it installed anyway as I'm sure once I get FSX working it will look nicer. I'm using DX9 if that makes a difference. I also have frame rate locked at 30 in nvidia control panel (adaptive limiting). here is my cfg as well if it helps. I know the bufferpool is high, but I tweaked for hours and that's what worked best. UsePools=0 made it very glitchy. 19. Yeah I did but I didn't try the mod, didn't want to possibly create more problems, but I'm all out of ideas so I'll give it a shot after this repair completes. Would you recommened *******' Mod or SweetFX? Thanks again man
  20. Hey man, thanks for the quick reply, I fell asleep haha. I haven't installed a shader mod, other than cfg tweaks, uiautomationcore.dll, some water tweaks and a few others I haven't modified it a whole lot. I tried what you said anyway and deleted the shader cache so fsx would rebuild it but to no avail. I think this something a bit more messed up. I've repaired both the fsx and accel installs and still nothing. I'm going to try uninstalling ftx and see what happens.
  21. First off I would like to say thankyou so very much to all of you that have posted on this forum and others, you have helped me incalculably over the last couple of years to get my fsx running beyond my expectations. unfortunately I don't have the expertise to be able to add any fresh advice to this knowledge base, but i am here because I have an issue i cannot understand and cannot find posted anywhere. Anyway it had been a while since i'd done any tweaking but now I've just done a fresh windows install and FSX is driving me nuts. The issue is that my aircraft are displaying.loading incorrectly - wheels on top of the fuselage, horizontal stabilizer running through the cockpit - etc etc It was fine before but somewhere along the line (unfortunately I'm to tired to remember exactly when lol) it went beserk. I initially had a feeling it was to do with newer nvidia drivers but now I'm thinking it might be to do with FTX AU. Have already reset default flight in fsx cfg, cfg is optimized, fsx was running, but after installing FTXAU (twice) this problem occurred, which seems weird to me because I would assume that FTXAU doesn't edit simobjects files? Here is my specs: ASRock G41M-S3 - has DPC Latency issues with high autogen resulting in audio crackle, any advice?) Q6600 G0 @ 2.7GHz - I know, i got real unlucky, it won't go any higher on stock vcore, isn't stable at 3GHz with 1.4vcore 8GB DDR3 GEIL Enhance 9-9-9-24 ASUS GTX660 OC 2GB OCZ Vertex 4 WD Raptor Win 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 And a screenshot: Anyway if any of you have come across this or have any ideas as to what it could be it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
