  1. Sounds good on paper. I say....PROVE IT. The video shows us nothing and Flight School is lackluster at best IMHO (and like i stated earlier, I would rather buy some beer than waste my cash on what I've seen around the web about Flight School). When it comes to this simulator, I will politely believe half of what I hear and all of what I see. If Flight School is a peek at whats to come, I think I will just pass and drink more beer. My FSX runs fine and looks great. Just my $.02...
  2. Now THIS is an interesting development! I wonder if they will have a trial period option? I am definitely interested, but I don't know if I would make the switch from AS without having the chance to try this. In trying it, I mean a full functionality trial, not just at one specific airport with only a few settings. I also wonder if REX's products will be sold separately or there will be a slight discount if you buy the bundle? Either way, it sounds like REX has really upped the ante with this one! Good things are coming folks!! I don't know about y'all, but I'm excited!
  3. I could care less about progressing through the pilot licenses. Like has already been stated, a solid and expandable PLATFORM is what is needed. I get the feeling they are trying to reinvent the wheel here with all this "vision" stuff. Hang around here long enough and you will see what the people want. I think most would agree, we want a graphically beautiful sim, with the ability to have as many in depth systems as we please...or none at all. I guess, all in all, having someone at least trying to take the simming community to the next level is better than none. In the mean time, I'll just sit back and watch what happens. I haven't bought flight school, but just by watching the videos on youtube I know it's not for me, both in graphics and "fly-ability". I'd rather spend my $15 on cheap case of beer and spend my evening in the back yard playing my guitar around the fire. I wish them luck.
  4. Never....please....SHOW ME!!! I would love to see screenshots/video of this stuff, though I'm sure they don't want to let the whole cat out of the bag at this point. If REX can do all this with real world/real time weather, I'm going to start throwing my money directly at my monitor! I've been simming for 17+ years and the continued development never ceases to amaze me. I wish both REX and Hifi lots of luck with these developments, two great sim companies indeed. I'll be watching this VERY CLOSELY. B)
  5. Both look very nice indeed! I have used AS for years, but the visuals from REX look amazing. The selling point for me will pivot on a couple things. Has the REX weather engine been brought up to par with AS, and will AS2016 be sold separately from ASCA? If REX can give me those visuals with the same accuracy as AS when it comes to real time weather depiction, winds, turbulence, etc. etc. I will go straight to REX and never look back. To me, AS always had the superior engine, and REX the superior textures, but if REX finally overcame this hurdle and gives me the best of both worlds and can do it in one product rather than two....SOLD! I'm still picking my tongue up off the floor from the rain shaft depiction from REX....WOW!
  6. I definitely know the feeling. When I did line service for my flight school at Sussex airport (KFWN) in NJ, I used to do a lot of talking with the airshow pilots and loved having chats with the likes of Jim Leroy, Bobby Younkin, and Jimmy Franklin....all of which are gone now. :Broken Heart: This is very sad news for sure. My thoughts and condolences to his family and friends. A terrible loss. These men of daring were ALL doing what they LOVE.
  7. Will there be any voice overs so I can relive the experience of my real world instructor screaming "MORE RIGHT RUDDER!" ??
  8. I assume the NGX is some sort of PMDG thing. I dont fly tube liners so.... From what I gather, an overloaded sim is an overloaded sim no matter which directx your using. What other add ons are you running? High rez clouds? Hi rez ground textures?
  9. So the "game" was deasesed first and then became an explosive? That would make the game a biological weapon.....no? Lol :-D
  10. I have it and use it for FSX. I like it, but I really want to move to ASN. I know I can get a discount for upgrading but for my limited income the upgrade price is tough to handle. I have been trying to find a way to compromise with "The High Command" to allow me to justify the purchase. Not sure which approach to use yet.
  11. I don't understand this dialect? Is the OP trying to state that his "game" is some sort of explosive? It also looks as if "You" has been misspelled in a couple references.
  12. Question......does AI ship traffic display when flying on a network like VATSIM? I have never had the ship traffic enabled on my machine, and I'm at work so I cant test it right now.
  13. I could care less about anything PMDG. I dont fly tube liners, nor do I care to. I want to know 2 things... 1. Will it improve performance flying complex GA aircraft? (i.e. frame hog Carenado Cirrus SR22) 2.Can I use the recompiled files from SE in my FSX:MS install with some modification? <----(I refuse to believe the answer is NO.....I speculate that its just too new and no one has found a way...YET) As I have said in a previous post, my FSX works beautifully. I have no reason to switch. But if certain hurdles are overcome with SE. I will ditch this b**tch in a heartbeat. Better performance is better performance.....I dont give a damn who offers it or how. On the other hand. I do appreciate the "pioneers" that have made the plunge and are giving the entire community valuable data so that people like myself can make an educated descion. The nay sayers that dont have the balls to experiment need not even comment. Just sit back and watch the data come....buy the sim and then, AND ONLY THEN make your comments. I am approaching this with a very open mind(and I have over 15 years with sim experience). I cant wait to see if things can be improved...not only for mysef....but EVERYONE. We could be on the verge on a revolution in an already outdated technology, or we could witness the greatest flop in sim history. Who am I to decide the course of things to come? I am going to sit back and watch the data roll in. In the mean time...my FSX works perfecly with full sliders in DX10.
  14. Honestly, I'm with JSkorna. I am running FSX on Win 8.1 in DX10 and have never had an issue. If SE works for some people...awesome. I have no reason to find out if its any better, like I said...my FSX works fine. What I am wondering is, if these changes were made... * Fix to particle emitter controllers which were not being updated properly. * Fix to flush all levels of detail in terrain cache. * Fix to Texture Composition preventing fail and crash. ...what files were modified? Will it be possible to replicate such "fixes" outside of SE in a standard FSX install, or is this truely modified source code? What if I have an install of both and can identify which files are effected by the "fixes" and copy and paste them into my FSX install and reap the "benifits" (or placebo...which ever you prefer)? Like I said....I run with no issues....but this topic has had me "curious" since the whole thing was released. ~Justin
