ust thought i would let you know its still going strong no matter what i throw at it. I have not had a crash since removing the DLL and XML. just let them rebuild themselves and everything A OK. Thanks Jim.

I had to goto bed last night and so had to turn it off, it was up to 11 hrs when I finally shut her down. well chuffed.

As they have re-written themselves and everything seems to be running ok, I will just keep them to one side at the moment and see what happens. its still going strong after 7 hrs or so. regards

My PC is a modest ASAU Z97 pro gamer MB with a i5 4690k chip, a MSI gtx 970 4gb card with 14 gb RAM made up of one 8gb and 3 x 2gb

​After many, many, many, months of crashes since 3.3, I finally believe its fixed. ​I always fly photo-scenery and always thought this to be the problem, and it may still be!, but I was still getting crashes on a vanilla installations with default aircraft. About 30 seconds in after wheels up, it would crash. ​The event log showed just about every fault known to man, and when I searched the forums for a fix for that one, another would appear. Well I found Jim YOUNGS post yesterday about moving the DLL, exe and CFG files and restarting the sim. I dare say I've seen it before and thought that it looked too difficult to do and a bit beyond my capability. Well I bit yet another bullet and did what Jim suggested. This was when the miracle happened! I am now about 3 hours in to a photo- scenery flight across France in JF Tornado with med settings and no crashes. The only other thing I have been doing, and I will look into this further, was copying a saved scenery config that has all my photo scenery in, into the scenery CFG every time I re-installed, just to save time rather than add them one at a time. Believe me, if I had to do that every time I have re-installed P3D to try to rid it of a fault, it would be a full time job as I have about 1.5 TB of the stuff. This time I have been adding them separately, a couple at a time and then trying them out, Still no crashes. My question is, what do I do with the DLL, EXE and CFG files that I moved to a temp location. The CFG and DLL and EXE files have as Jim suggested, re-written themselves into what I believe are their respective folders. Can I just delete these and leave the sim as it is or do I need to do anything else with them?. Regards, a very happy simmer,

I really don't get why so many people come on this forum just to pass their opinion on how c£@p dtg is going to be, and how they will never buy it. So what!, nobody is asking you to, its up to you where you spend your money, as it is me. I dont particularly like certain newspapers but I don't go on to their website to tell everybody for the simple fact that ' nobody cares'. If you dont like it then I would suggest you do not waste what little of your life you have left! Coming here to whinge. Misery loves its own company. I for one am looking forward to it.

Does anybody know if MSE will be patching their photscenery to work with the new 64bit simulator coming at the end of the year? or are they working on something else. There is no point buying any more till I know the answer, regards

Just to be clear, I appreciate that the flight school is a closed program, it is the flight simulator I am asking about that is released later on this year. Does anybody jnow if we will be able to add existing photo scenery as we do now?

I would like to echo this last question, I have heavily invested in photoscenery that I love. Will I be able to add this to the scenery library in the flight simulator when it is released? regards.

if you are on win 10 then try running it through compatibility manager, worked wonders for me.

Can I assume that when it is released for pre-order tomorrow, that the full system specs, videos and screenshots are published too. I think there were many of us that were hooked on the screenies from FSX pre release, only to be bitterly disappointed with what we got.

Hi all, I hav a 10 year old son and a 5 year old daughter that love sitting and watching me fly. When the dreaded " can i have a go " question rears it's head, it's like " you wouldn't understand and it's too hard to show you", well hopefully it will soon be " there you go, enjoy yourself ". We have to remember that once us dinosaurs have gone, what will be left? empty virtual airspace? virtual aircraft grounded for life, rotting away on virtual tarmac?. I'm buying it for myself also as I never really got my head round navigation, so here's hoping!

I'm a police officer pounding the beat in York, UK but sprouted my wings way way back servicing bulldogs, jet provosts and tucanos at RAF linton on Ouse near YORK back in the 90s. First experiance of the RAF was when a wessex plopped itself down on our school playing field in the 70s.

well whatever it was its still working today, this makes me a very happy bunny. 5hrs into a tornado flight at the moment well out into the atlantic.

Yeah jim thanks, but whatever it is it's fixed it. Just spent 3 hrs in a tornado in Wales in full photo scenery and left it running when I came to work. Any ideas why it's worked?

Hi all, I have been plagued with CTD's for a while now and tried everything in the book. I recently upgraded my GPU to an MSI GTX 970 with 4 gb of ram and still they occurred !!!. The sim was perfectly ok with default scenery and a little Moony Bravo to putter around in but that is not where I like to be, low and slow is ok but I do like to get down and dirty in something with a little grunt. My preferred mode of transport is JF Tornado or maybe something from the good old cold war, problem was, after two minutes, poof! gone again. I use photo-scenery from MSE and various other 3pd,s Well yesterday for some unknown reason I ran the win 10 program ' troubleshoot compatibility' function on it and let it run. ​Well off she went like 's@?t off a stick' and was still running when I left for work. Came home this morning and of course it had died but a check of the error log showed it ran for just over 4 hours, god knows where my little beauty ended up but if anyone finds a Tornado in their back garden, let me know. If anyone else who is ​having OOM or CTD's could try this and let me know if it helped, I would be interested to know why this works for me. Many thanks. BTW I believe it was win 7 compatibility I let it run in but this always used to occur when I had win 7 installed too? my specs win 10 install from install not from upgrade. gigabyte z77 d3h mb 14bg DDR3 1600 ram MSI gtx 970 i5 3570k 3.4ghz unclocked and a lovely cool Zalman z11 box with more fans that a boy band. Novatech 600w 80+ psu. p3d runs from a 240gb ssd and the OS on a separate 124 ssd

Hi Martin, I have a huge amount of money invested in photo-scenery that I have collected over the years. will I be able to use this in the flight sim when it's released? as far as I am aware this does not need converting to 64bit or is my understanding wrong. regards, terry

I remember all the anticipation and expectancy that has surrounded every releqse of a flight sim for the last 20 years, and the dissapointed frustration when it did not work 'out of the box'. I have yet to remember one that has. Every time there is a release there is the cry of " why cant we have a 64bit version"? Well someone has done it so why are we downing it before its even taken off?. Weve still got about 6-8 weeks of this yet, lets not convince ourselves that its crap before we have even seen any screeners. Remember, we are all still flying a 10+ year old sim engine, so for what its worth, I'm excited to see whats new. If you dont like, then dont buy.

Hi all. I have 351 gb of high res cities and all of the states. I was wondering if I could cut and paste each high res city into the appropriate state, ie high res Atlanta into state of Georgia. I know it has to be higher in the scenery cfg but though it would just over-right the relevant scenery BGL and save me a ton of space. many thanks, terry

Many thanks, just been running some tests with process explorer and it shows P3D running at just under 2 gb. If I flip between views it goes over 2gb and CTD. Can I assume that the 2 gb is the limit of the card? I am not a geek by any stretch of the imagination, but the way I understand is that if I had a 4 gb card then I have 2gb to play with. Many thanks for the replies, Can I take it that 4bg of memory is the way to go then as 2 just wont cut it any more. I was quite happy with 2.5 and never got any OOM until I changed to three. I always fly with photo-scenery and have medium settings. I did try to OC a couple of times with the gigabyte easy tune but that just gave me BSOD after a couple of minutes. Is there a better OC program that does it all automatically as I have never relished the thought of buggering about with my Bios. I have been looking at pushing the boat out and getting a 980 but was then reading about it needing a bigger PSU. At the moment I have a novatech 600w atx modular PSU, will this run the 980? many thanks.

Many thanks CKYLIU. I have been looking at the GTX970 over the 960 after reading the reviews. I agree about the cost, it is very expensive to buy titans and if i did then i would just end up with another bottleneck somewhere else. The thing with this product is that it appeals to the more mature person who are very lucky people out there with cash to burn, and I envy them for that. I am not at that stage in life yet as I still have a large family to look after. I tend to upgrade about every 3 years as this is within my budget. I can get a gtx970 in the UK for about £240ish and by the time my overtime goes in the bank, I dare say that they might even be a bit cheaper. I just hope that the $gb will sort my CTD's out with this program. regards
