So I was doing a flight from Seattle to San Fran yesterday in the PMDG 777 and just before touchdown, I kept hearing an error sound but no windows popped up or anything so I proceeded with landing and things went smoothly except I would hear that dinging sound effect go off. Upon further investigation, I learned that FSUIPC was giving me a "Free memory is very low" error sound effect. I have a pretty decent system to run FSX SE. Below is the FSUIPC log file from yesterdays flight and specs to my system and addons that I have currently installed on my system. Just looking for a solution. I've been testing both FSX SE and Prepar3D v3 for the past month or so because I'm trying to make a decision on which sim to stick with and which one to drop completely. Oh wow! Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah I'm getting a list of items together for my simulator because I really want to do a one seater B777 using the PMDG 777 as the base. I wanted to make sure I get a good SSD for my flight simulator.

Hey guys, I'm looking to finally buy my first solid state hard drive for flight simulator. I was told that SSD are better for FSX and P3D since a SSD has no moving parts so loading scenery and stuff would be a lot faster to do. I've been looking on Newegg for SSDs and I found a few that are pretty good in pricing but reviews on some of these drives are kinda making me not want to get a SSD. Most notable is these reviews, the drives fail after 3 or 4 months. Trying to avoid something like this. What do you guys recommend for a solid state hard drive? Budget is up to $500 may extend it to $600 if needed to get a really good SSD that won't fail after a few months of use.

Sooooo, I bought Orbx FTX Global Base back in August of last year. Just discovered tonight that the installer I have doesn't go past P3D v2.5. I looked on their website to see if there was a updated installer for P3D v3 and couldn't find one. I logged into my flight sim store account where I bought it and I have the link to the installer to which I can download but I don't know if it will be P3D v3 compatible since I bought this back in August. I don't see any other links within my account that would suggest an update for this. Am I going to have to purchase a version of this that's P3D v3 ready?

Just tried it. Found no duplicates. I checked scenery cfg in the main FSX drive and the one in the app data folder and it found no duplicates.

I recently installed Imaginesims KATL for FSX Acceleration and everything installed correctly but in FSX it seems that the scenery addon is overlapping each other. Double runway lines. Double lights. I looked in the scenery section of FSX and there's only one entry for this addon. Anyone have any suggestions on what's happening here?

I was an Xplane 10 user for about a month and then I went back to FSX SE before buying P3D v2. I like Xplane. flight dynamics are a bit more realistic and the scenery looks great but the payware stuff was lacking. I bought the A320 for it which by far is my favorite jet to fly in Xplane. I bought the Worldliner 777 and was not impressed at all. It may fly almost realistic like its real world counterpart but I've been so used to PMDG that I couldn't get into this version of the 777. Bought Xplane on Steam so there it sits in my virtual steam cloud waiting to be downloaded and installed but that won't happen. I run P3D v3 now but recently went back to MSFSX Acceleration since downloading FSX SE will take crap ton of time on this stupid internet connection... Currently using Acceleration because I really didn't feel like buying addons that would work in P3D v3 that I already have for FSX. At some point I will but I want my purchases to be geared more towards getting hardware setup for my simulator. So if you want almost unlimited amount of payware addons, I'd stick with FSX or go P3D. If you want realistic flight go with Xplane.

Its been a long time since I've used a ATI card. I like the fact that its 8 gb and the price is good. Gotta check though if this will also be good for 4K video editing, compositing and 3D animation. As far as I was told on the CGI message boards, they recommended Nvidia 970 on up. lol at this point, I should just build a separate rig for flight simulator.

Well, how did you turn on weather radar for the A321? It would be the same way to turn it off..

Yeah I could do something like that. Use the Leo Bodnar card to interface with the different knobs and switches.

I've been deciding whether to go this route for a overhead panel, using a touch screen for it because I like to fly the PMDG 737, 747, 777 and the Airbus A321. With touchscreen, it offers flexibility but I'm wondering how it would react to commands where you would have to right click on a button or a knob or a switch? Anyone on here who has a simpit and uses touchscreens have any suggestions?

970 card seems to be the best bang for my buck. I also posted this same question on a CGI animation forum and they said that this card would also be good for 3D animation and editing although alot of them recommended the Titan X lol. But at least with this card, I can kill two birds with one stone so to speak lol

I'm looking at buying a new graphics card in the next few months. I've read people using the 980 ti's 980 titan X's which are pretty pricey graphics cards. Thats not a bad idea. I guess for me I could just totally disable the internet when I start simming. Download active sky weather during flight planning and then shut off internet and virus protection when I'm about to fly. I can always go online during a flight on my laptop. Since I don't fly on Vatsim this would work for me
