  1. Not very different from real photograph actually https://www.istockphoto.com/photo/plane-is-taking-off-at-sunset-gm927191638-254367919
  2. Ben had mentioned in one of the posts that the amount of snow would depend on the angle that the object's surfaces make with the horizontal plane. Great job Laminar. Hard to beat the level of realism.

  4. I thought they were showing off the Evolution to the Internet and not the snow textures. Michael makes it very clear at the very beginning of the video that 'it's not done'. Laminar has published other pictures and videos that show snow over the terrain. Obviously, in this build (or at this region), the terrain mask for snow has not been implemented.
  5. And when you do have the time to glance outside, you will hopefully see vegetation with accurate seasonal colors, water with accurate color and waves, cities, ports and industrial areas placed as per real location, etc.
  6. Make sure you have the latest (or at least a recent) version of plugins running. Your Avitab version is quite old. Try replacing with a newer version.
  7. I am grateful to Laminar that the eye candy came late, otherwise it would have been driven by art and not physics. I am also grateful to them for not ditching Mac and Linux users by adopting DirectX. They waited for Vulkan and Metal to evolve and mature (along with the drivers of course).
  8. Those are amazing shots really. Bing maps with 3D objects along with weather and realistic lighting. A nice upgrade to global mapping software. Very good for hopping on a plane for sightseeing. But for people like me who want a realistic flight simulation along with decent simulation of the environment, XP11 does a great job. The great news is that in XP12, the 'simulation' is being elevated to a higher level along with realistic simulation of the environment. Great times ahead for all of us to live in peace and happiness 😊
  9. As mentioned by Ben in the Fsexpo keynote and in the interview later, the scenery will contain deep metadata. This will dictate how the shaders work on the foliage to depict seasonal variations. Where the water puddles, snow would accumulate, etc. All these along with the dynamic 4D weather engine with ray marched clouds makes me very excited about XP12.
  10. Except in the highly unlikely scenario where you won't be connected to the Internet.
  11. Not to forget, he has made his scenery library available for freeware developers.
  12. Presence of body and mind on the act of flying is one hundred percent when flying in real life. The same is not true in case of simming. This is compounded by limited field of vision and gaming grade hardware. I have seen that making a conscious effort of not moving my gaze from the end of runway and focussing my mind and body on maintaining centerline with anticipation and quick and small corrective actions actually improved my takeoffs. Setting the power requies a few gazes off the runway. If this can be reduced by pre-determining the physical throttle position for the appropriate power setting, the gaze could then be fixed on the runway end. Retards
  13. IXEG is the best aircraft for X-Plane till date and is great fun to fly. But it might fall slightly short of PMDG quality. Here is an interesting thread on the current version. http://forums.x-pilot.com/forums/topic/8526-things-that-are-not-going-to-be-in-v10/
  14. Happy New Year to all. Wish you lots of new aircraft and destinations to fly.
