  1. Hi all, So I have the two addons mentioned in the title. I tried to take off with the Bonanza at Darrington Muni 1S2 and found it to be a bit dangerous (too close to the trees top). I took every bit of runway avaible, full flaps, hold the brake until the RPM in the green. However I did not trim for takeoff. Any advice is welcome. In real life (and to some extent in the sim), is it OK to takeoff with a Bonanza from 1S12? From Skyvector I found that the 1S2 runway is 2491 x 40 feet. I was thinking of getting a couple of airstrips in OrbX Pacific NorthWest zone to fly with the Bonanza but I believe that it is a NOGO? The map of available airports is here. BROWN - grass strips ORANGE - small paved GA airfields, LIGHT GREEN - bigger GA / small regional airports suitable for Dash 8 or a bizjet? DARK GREEN - airports suitable for 737? BLUE - regional and international airports, with enough runway and parking place for at least 757
  2. Hi Jim and Franck, Thank you for coming in this thread. If the admin can activate an option to allow each user to customize the number of threads per page and the number of posts per thread, that would be best IMHO. Otherwise, personally I would like 25 threads per page.
  3. Dan: my bad, I was not asking for your nickname but the why of your preferences. Anyway, clear now, thanks. Makes me think. Patrick: my understanding is: 1) Environmental enhancements textures: clouds, sky, moon,... Some of the items below have them all, some a few, etc. - REX - ASCA - ENVTEX -... 2) Shaders modifiers/enhancers - PTA: many settings/tweaking options. Good if you like micro-tuning and not good if you like Plug and Play. However there are some presets available by third party or community. - TomatoShade - ENVSHADE: no settings/tweaking options. Plug and Play. ENVTEX and ENVSHADE work best together the developer says. And I read PTA works best with REX addons.. Hope it clarifies a bit. I cannot make any recommendation because I do not own any of those addons. At this I'm questioning myself if I should get one or not. PS: I'm interested by the comments on the "optimal addons list", but I will refrain from commenting, until your questions are answered, to avoid to divert the discussions.
  4. kyrtaps: thanks for the link. Amazing screens indeed but also other interesting materials. I did not buy yet the P3D 777 by I'm curious too for the LCD Enhancement. dowscc: I'm curious. Why would you never consider using modifications to sounds, lighting or shaders? Fear to screw up things, CTD or things like that?
  5. @Patrick: I'm a bit in the same boat as you. I had a 3 year absence and I'm returning. I had FSX and installed P3Dv4 last week. Decided to restart/relearn with small G/A aircrafts before going to the 777 which I had for FSX. 1) Quick return on experience: - If you want FSX colours in P3D, turn "HDR" off - If you don't care about trees moving in the wind, turn "Dynamic 3D Autogen Vegetation" off 2) You have quite a good list 3) You might consider OrbX HD trees 4) I'm considering ENVSHADE + ENVTEX. But not sure yet. I eliminated PTA because I don't like tweaking, trying... 5) After maybe 2 years of "freeze", PFPX will have a "major" update soon. I read that many guys are using Simbrief at this time. If you knew FSNavigator for FS2004, and fly small aicrafts, there is its successor: FS Tramp. I love it but it is a 30 euros/year subscription. There is no fuel calculation if I recall correctly. @Dan: me too I am hesitating to change light, shaders... to avoid potential unexpected problems
  6. I had Imagine's Singapore in my days on FSX but was not very much convinced. Looks like their site has been upgraded to more modern standards. It was a time when the very tiny fonts were hard to read.
  7. Chuck, oh man, I am speechless. I knew your DCS and IL-2 guides but was not aware of the P3D one's. Many thanks and deep respect to you! Simicro.
  8. Thanks Charlie. I asked because on some forums (not here apparently) you can set the number of threads per page .
  9. Hi, I searched but it seems that it is not possible to increase the number of threads displayed per page? I imagine that this is to avoid to create to much workload on the server ?
  10. I turned off HDR and recovered the FSX colours. I would like to give a try to ENVSHADE. If I install it, do I need to turn HDR on?
  11. Very interesting, thanks all. Got it fot the additional right rudder when lifting.
  12. Many thanks Jesse and King Schools! Right rudder rules lol Please help me: I did not hear/understand what the lady said in the end: we need to apply right rudder not only to keep the plane centerline while on ground but also after the plane takes off. That is continuous right rudder. Correct?
  13. Hi all, Many thanks. I'll try HDR, and if not enough wiht get ENVSHADE . Their website and SimMarket says: 2 supported simulators Prepar3D v4 (v4.1 and v4.2) Prepar3D v3 (v3.4 only) Does it work on 4.3 too?
  14. Basic I know but also think of balancing left and right fuel before take-off and put a co-pilot of the same weigh as the pilot.
  15. AviatorMan, You did well to bring it up again here. I moved recently to P3Dv4 and got the C172 and the V35. I first flew the C172, and I had the strong left pull on takeoff, like there was a wind gust. Of course I did tests with no wind, see level, joystick calibrated, etc. I did not read the thread you mention but my understanding is: - Maybe A2A modeled too good the flight model because in real life, a medium stick movement results in a small surface input. But our sim joystick is not a real stick - On the C172, I finally realized that the strong pull to the left right after take off is kind of start of stall - I realized that I pulled to much on the stick (while ok on other airplanes), need to be extremely smooth - If the manual say for example rotation speed = 55 kts, it does not mean that the gear lifts off the ground at that speed, but start to pull gently at that speed I must admit that I flew the V35 after the C172 and there was a left pull too but less than on the C172. Maybe because aware already? Also there is a non documented feature accessed through SHIFT+3 : in the lower left corner, you can set the elevator force. If I am correct, the higher the number, the harder you have to pull for the elevator to move.
  16. Hello, many thanks for your info re PFPX. Me too I hope TOPCAT development could resume.
  17. Thanks mates for your kind heads-up on Computer Pilot. Much appreciated! I'll go with PC Pilot.
  18. Hi all, I moved last week from FSX to P3D. Maybe I don't have the right wording but for me the cockpit and scenery colors are "whiter", "brighter" than FSX. Maybe "washed". I believe that is well known? What I can do to malke the P3D colours resemble those of FSX? I fly A2A aircrafts and have FTX Global, Vector, OpenLC USA + Europe. Thanks.
  19. Hi, Unless I mistake or misread, it is not possible to change the order of the presets listed. I tried to click-drag-drop, and also to rename the presets but the order of the items do not change. Is it possible in a future version to allow drag-and-drop and/or sort the presets alphabatically? Of course I understand it is more a nive-have than a must-have.
  20. Hi all, At the age of the internet, paper is still nice and has it charm. For example you can hold a magazine and read it wherever you want 😉 Well, you can too with a tablet or a smartphone, but anyway... In France and we have one and only french magazine, which I will not name, dedicated to desktop simulations (mostly flightsims). I used to buy it but I'm no more interested in the articles. And now I want to read in english. 1) I am considering to get an annual subscription to either PC Pilot (UK based) or PC Pilot (US based). I read a couple of them a long time ago. Today, which one do you recommend? 2) If I recall correctly, Computer Pilot "shut down" for a while, then resumed business. Is that correct? I am asking because I do not want to pay an annual subscription and the day after they stop the business. 3) I'd like to send an email to both of them to ask a few questions (delivery fees to France and that sort of things), but I did not achieve to find an email or a contact form on their websites. If you have PC Pilot or Computer Pilot, the contact email should be printed in the first pages along with legal informations. Thanks in advance.
  21. triple777, you are probably in a hurry to get an answser but please use punctuation and capital letters, otherwise it is difficult to read/understand...
