  1. Jack, I would do it exactly like you described it. Maybe with my own completely desaturated settings... And if it doesn't work as expected... We have our image. Sure, generally I also hope not having to revert to an image. But if you don't want to wait for the dust to settle... Give it a go.
  2. Jack, I think it doesn't matter which P3D version you have as Matt confirmed the new PTA 2.6 can be used with 4.0 too. Most important, backup and save. And let it be a system and storage image prior to a major P3D update for example, which always comes with a lot of others updates of addons at the same time. Just a general advice. An image prior to the hype's peak is always useful...
  3. Sorry if this already got answered somewhere. Can I also use the new PTA 2.6 version and options with P3D 4.0? Just in case I feel no need to update P3D for now.
  4. As long as you have no confirmation it may be a wise decision and won't harm. If you backed up your default P3D shaders and now save your actual preset settings, nothing can go wrong when updating PTA. And maybe note your settings so you can enter them in the new PTA if your preferred preset doesn't work in the new version. At least most values should be transferable.
  5. In the last days i sometimes got a CTD. Not at a specific location or scenery. The error log doesn't show something about prepar3d then but mmc.exe errors at the time of the CTD. Could this have something to do with my bitdefender updating in the background? I already deleted my last scenery xml entries and put them back one by one with no luck. Sometimes no problems no matter where i fly or when switching to different sceneries. Also tried a clean prepar3d.cfg and low settings. But sometimes a CTD now. Anybody having a hint? Thanks.
  6. Alright. At least good to know. Thanks for the clarification.
  7. From my point of view you're completely right when it comes to saturation we see in nearly all screenshots. I have mine set to 0.59 in game and irc the digital color or whatever its named in the NVCP i also lowered a bit. But on top of that i use PTA since the first day and i love it.
  8. +1 Thanks to all clarificators I'm ready to buy now.
  9. +1 Anyway, really interested in TF!
  10. Hi, i bought the DHC-2 on the flash sale as my first Milviz aircraft. Now my normal installation procedure (in times of v4) is to first install sceneries or aircraft to a dummy folder with just an prepar3d.exe in it. Then i move the folders to my preferred custom directories, copy the effects to my main custom effects and so on, generate my xml's and whatever. Business as usual in the meantime and generally working flawlessly afterwards. After the Beaver installation i immediately thought i maybe will run into some difficulties this time because of the MVAMS directory with its files or maybe the xmltools.dll. Anyway, i moved the folders to my preferred custom locations and started the sim (P3Dv4). Okay, first problem when i loaded the Beaver was a lot of tiny windows each telling me a specific sound file wasn't found in ..panel\mvsounds. Afterwards i saw there was no ...panel\mvsounds folder at all, but a DHC-2 Beaver Milviz\DHC-2_XML_Sounds folder containing all these missing sound files. Just for the fun of it i created a ..panel\mvsounds folder and copied the sound files into it. Next time loading the aircraft i had no more messages of missing sound files and i could hear (probably) the correct sounds. But yes, it just didn't feel like a correct installation to me... And yes, it was me doing this. And even more the MVAMS tool seems not to work. For example, directly after the installation and BEFORE moving any folders i choosed the GTN750 but then, after moving my folders and loading the aircraft the first time there were only the standard avionics. Again, after manually adding the panel=GTN750 in the aircraft.cfg the GTN was there and working. So the bottom line is, is it somehow possible to install the aircraft into a directory outside the main sim folder and without having to manually editing or moving files afterwards? BTW i don't even know if everything is working properly now as i didn't spend much time in the aircraft so far and, as i said, it definitely "feels" like a weird patchwork what i did. If everything will work as it should now, i maybe would keep my installation (and never touch it again..) but i would always wonder if i could have had it in a more straightforward installation. And some problems still resist anyway like the other options in the MVAMS because the tool doesn't work with my installation. Any clarification appreciated! Thanks.
  11. I didn't have any problems with this update so far but was just reading a post about a temporary solution by hiding this update with a microsoft tool. Don't know if you already tried this or if this actually works. Here is the link... https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=166990#p166990
  12. Was thinking the same since some time now. People ask again to share his preset and only posts new screenshots.
  13. Same at the Flightsimstore. http://www.flightsimstore.com/index.php?currency=EUR&manufacturers_id=217&sort=3a&page=1 Might be worth to compare prices for EU customers. USD-EUR... But the latest products are not on sale it seems.
  14. Just watched it on my tiny smartphone. Will have a look again later on my PC. Is it a manual integration in the VC? Will give it a try! Thank you!
  15. Do you know "what" got modified? Is it just an entry in a cfg file which could be shared here? Just want to ask before maybe reinstalling all this v3 stuff. So just in case...
  16. No. I installed the GTN Complete in P3Dv4 flawlessly. But in the GTN Update Tool, I updated and clicked download but the last P3D entry is still v3.4.9.18400. Anyway the GTN seems to work in my A2A Cherokee in P3Dv4. Just also wonder why it's not listed.
  17. Nice hint! Okay. So if two files with the same name exist it may cause anomalies. Then the originals probably should be backed up or get an *.off extension. Yes, as we are working external nowadays and our tools create backups... we should be on the safe side... Thanks, Lorby!
  18. Thanks Lorby! And how do i handle E:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Scenery\Global\texture files? Also directly target the ...Global\texture folder? For example my FSX3D Barcelonnette addon comes with some of these global texture files but also some world scenery files. Do i have to place the ...Scenery\Global files on a different layer? Sorry, still learning...
  19. Hi, i hope i can add my question here as i hope it goes in a similar direction... Most of the time now i first install an addon into a dummy P3D folder with just a dummy prepar3d.exe in it. Then i paste the generated content to my desired own custom addons folders (by country, region or whatever) and create my xml. So i want to ask, when an addon installation generates files for the p3d\effects or p3d\sound or p3d\texture or p3d\scenery\world(or global)\scenery folders , and i mean many addons "do" this, so could i just make one single custom folder for all these (of course with the specific subfolders) and create one xml for all these together? So i would have a single folder outside my main p3d with all these fx, sound, world scenery ... files? I think i was reading about something like this but it seemed to cause problems if not done in a very specific order or with specific names, descriptions or whatever in the xml. I also was reading something about a limitation when creating too many xmls with fx entries in them? Is it right?? So that's why i would like to create one general folder plus xml for all the files i was talking about... I hope you understand what i try to describe... Or how are you dealing with these files? (It also seems it's nearly impossible to keep really everything addon related outside the main p3d folder. But the more the better. For example i also have problems with my FSDG sceneries to split them manually to different custom folders (by country for example). One, no problem. But with more than one i got problems to get the FSDG configurator recognize all sceneries from their new custom locations. But that's another topic maybe...) Thanks
  20. All i can say is, i experienced the same when i switched off a mesh or whatever for scenery testing reasons or so in the library. Then the message appeared. And i think it appeared every time i switched a checkbox. I have to say iirc in Lorby's tool i saw some of my sceneries with the same layer number, i don't know if this is a bug or if it's okay or if it has something to do with it. Will have to check again. Didn't use the tool and the sim for some days now. It's still the year of testing for me. :-)
  21. Thanks for detailed explanation! So if I sort things the "hard code" way I should regularly backup the add-ons.cfg from ProgramData so I can copy it back after a P3D reinstall and I'll have everything in place again. I will think about both options again but it seems the hard code way offers less restricted folder order or xml placement.
  22. Hi Lorby, would it be possible to implement an option to choose where a new addon's xml will be created, so that it must not be in the user/documents folder. I think at the moment that's the only location where your tool places new xml's? And of course if we could choose a destination folder it would be useful if your tool then also would make an package entry in the add-ons.cfg with the desired path. Reason i ask is because yesterday i reinstalled my A2A aircraft and their new (again) updated V4 installers let you now choose a preferred installation folder anywhere you like and then also the package and path was added to the add-ons.cfg in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4. For example i installed to E:\Addons\Aircraft\A2A where the corresponding xml also is now. I then installed my RealAir Legacy the same way, of course manually, with adding an xml directly to the RealAir Legacy folder and adding an package entry to the add-ons.cfg under C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4. I personally would like to have my addons together with their corresponding xml's all in my E:\Addons\Aircraft\... and E:\Addons\scenery\... structure. And therefore an option in your tool would be very handy. Or are there any drawbacks in doing it this way?? Thanks!
  23. It is. But reduced by just 4€. So yes, not a real sale...
  24. I was reading on fselite that LM will bring an update next week. Maybe this option will be fixed then.
