The Tiresome "If it ain't Boeing, Im not going"..........
So one thing I have always learned in business, the opinion of one only counts when he/she has a skin in the game. The only thing the report for that documentary wants to do is to make his story shocking in a way so it become news worthy. I can tell you, the CEO of Qatar has said unflattering things about the 787 as well. There are official response as well, obviously something you did not bother to check okay, obviously I am wasting my time. You wanted to see the other side and I have conveyed that to you but obviously don't want to believe what the customer has to say despite 787's being delivered from both Everett and Charleston are still being accepted and praised by the airlines.

The Tiresome "If it ain't Boeing, Im not going"..........
h Haha it is funny you are very hard headed even when I show you a clip from you claim to know the reputation of, defend Boeing and BSC you still want to believe a documentary! I feel bad for you man, you must have nothing to do but watch a 45 min clip and believing people who make anonymous claims. And where did you get the idea i work for BSC or even a Boeing employee???? Brah! please watch the video!!!! Mr. Al-Baker was answering question referring to the Al Jazeera report that you seem to believe as the Gospel!

The Tiresome "If it ain't Boeing, Im not going"..........
So what is your evidence that no one is taking them? Have you been here to BSC to see the aircraft that are being delivered to Virgin Atlantic, Qatar, even the ANA R2D2 plane was built here? Please show me your proof. Also, it seem you don't know who Akbar Al Baker is? CEO of Qatar Airway who can be pretty pointed what he says about Boeing and Airbus, one of the most vocal and demanding CEO in the airline business. http://www.wsj.com/video/qatar-ceo-slams-airbus-a380-delivery/5EFFF26A-294E-4B55-BD7E-E92A07161CE8.html

B744 Cockpit Visit For Grown Man
I've been in the 747 LCF (Dreamlifter) at work. I thought it was more impressive being in the 787 cockpit as all the displays are much larger. I do like the nostalgia of the 744.

What's your day job?
I work at Boeing and know a couple of 777x engineers. Both have Aerospace Engineering degrees, one is an Embry-Riddle grad, other I am not sure all the school but has a Ph.D. In the US, having a PE (professional engineer) designation is a good one too. But overall I think a degree in AE should get your foot in the door. Good luck.

Can we get a PMDG 787-8/9/10.
I hope there will be a 787 as the glass cockpit is just amazing. Supposedly a true pleasure to fly as well.

What's your day job?
I don't think 35 is too "old" to change profession, I myself did it in my mid 30's in switching from Risk Management to IT. If you pursue your flying career full time, you should easily have your CPL and even CFI within six months. The question for your really is if you are willing to struggle financially for the first few years as you build time as a CFI then the regionals which you may make a subpar salary flying in the right seat. Are you willing to pay $100K for your flight training just to make $25K for the first few years? My undergrad was Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle back in the late 90's. I would say at least 50% of my friends/classmates are not even working in the aviation field despite having the ratings. Those who are flying, they are flying regionals and corporate, none for the legacy carriers where it can be very competitive to get into. I wish you good luck in your endeavors.

Difficulty in slowing down
Kyle, you are correct and I should have been more clear in the previous post. Speed breaks are really lift killing devices hence they all deploy when you land so to prevent the possibility of "ballooning". Either way, to truly slow down an aircraft is back to basics, throttle down and nose up. In complex aircraft you have more tools to help like speed breaks.

Difficulty in slowing down
This is an interesting topic and luckily I am meeting couple of my coworkers tomorrow who are 777x wing engineers and I shall ask them just how much those speed breaks have in reducing airspeed in flight. Although, from Kyle's photos of the speed breaks being deployed in flight, I can't think it would slow you down that drastically with only two panels. From my flight training, slowing down an aircraft is always throttle back and nose up if you want to really slow down. And by the way, flaps are never to be used as a way of slowing an aircraft down, the real purpose of the flaps are to change the camber of the wing so to lower your stall speed so you can land at a slower speed, or to provide more lift at take off depending on flap settings.

My new thoughts on Monitor setup / Occulus Rift
I have been using a 42" screen for flight sim for the past couple years. Recently I finally got a chance to tour the Dreamlifter, the 747 LCF at work and my whole thoughts on monitor setup and possibility of using the Occulus Rift for commercial jets have totally changed after going into the flight deck. The first observation in the cockpit is just how large the screens were for the Primary Flight Display, Navigation Display and EICAS. I have been inside the 787's cockpit many times and know they have really large displays, but after simming for a few years and getting used to how small the PFD, ND and EICAS appear on the monitor in FSX and now P3D, I was really surprised just how large the display is in real life, I would say each display inside the 747 is at least 8"x8", if not, larger. Another observation I made is the 42" monitor is almost the same size as the one side of the front windshields. My original plan was to get the Occulus Rift for flying the 777 etc, however I am starting to think the Rift would probably be best for flying with an HUD situation like a fighter, maybe 737NG with HUD. For large and complex cockpits, the best way would appear to have a monitor around 42" to replicate what one side of the windshield, and a second monitor, possibly a 25" 21:9 aspect monitor to display the PFD, ND and EICAS beneath it... Just some thoughts.

[25NOV15] PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II - VC Preview!
Great job dev team on the details in the cockpit. I finally was able to go on the Dreamlifter tour at work a couple weeks ago and I compared the pics you posted here of the v2 VC to pics I taken of the cockpit inside the LCF and it looks like you guys really took the effort to model everything down to the small details. Really looking forward to the release of this app!
