  1. Thanks a lot for your explanation! I do use ORBX vector and global. I also use xplane11 a lot and that uses a lot of scenery that is very small in size because it uses libraries as you probably know. I wandered if this would be the case in p3d as well. Do I place the folders directly in add-ons folder or do I copy the content of your scenery folders directly into add-ons/scenery folder? I copied the 4 downloaded and unzipped files you uploaded and I am asked to overwrite some files a few times ..do you provide the same files in the different folders you uploaded? Does folder 1-1 contain some files that are identical in folder 1-2? If not why does my computer ask me if I want to override stuff? Can you explain a bit more which folders need to be copied where? Thanks in advance!! Jozeff
  2. Hi, Wonderful stuff. I'm looking forward to trying this! How is it possible that this scenery is only a few Mb large? Just wondering. Thanks Jozeff
  3. Thats perfectly true, I spent like 2000 Euro on hardware and bought fsx for 5 Euro on steam. Xplane11 is 60 Euro and p3dv4 well, I got that one in a way I will not further xplane here😙😙 Flyinside has a great trial you can use over and over again when you restart it so a lot of time to try. Xplane11 has a trial also I took a look again at the lessons in fax. They look pretty good but nowadays there is a lot of stuff on YouTube that explains it perfectly well. Fsx is worth the few dollars alone for the lesson material however. Cheers Jozeff
  4. You have a point there gcbraun. It's a personal experience of course. The native c172 in xplane11 is very good and the rep version by simcoders is extremely good. My computer barely runs xplane11 so that's why I am thinking towards p3dv4. I use a yoke, thrustmaster warthog stick and throttle. Also a decent rudder. The fsx lessons are pretty good. P3dv4 is way less in lessons, they cut out a lot of material unfortunately. Xplane11 has only a few lessons, very basic. Cheers Jozeff
  5. Well I think that p3dv4, active sky, a2a Cessna 172 and ORBX global are what you are looking for. Try native first before flyinside. This is just my opinion at the moment. I'm not telling you you must do this, it's just a suggestion. The a2a is great and there are hundreds of instruction videos for that one on YouTube. Active sky is a fantastic weather add-on Atc I have no clue, I never used it to be honest.... Good luck. Jozeff
  6. Hello, My experience is that watching YouTube videos created by:the following were very helpful. doofer911 Countryflyboy Flighsim481 Matt Davies I own the fsx book you talked about and I have read it. It starts with the cub and the c172, then twin engine. Having a book in front of my computer screen was never a happy combination for me. Learning the instruments was much easier watching some videos. I'm a worthless pilot tbh, just an hour in the weekends. Let me emphasize that fsx and flyinside is not very stable. I used the demo and it crashed Everytime within 15 minutes. The smallest change in settings caused ctd. I bought flyinside for p3dv4 however and it is working pretty good. The a2a c172 is very good to start with. Xplane11 is also wonderful but it is harder on the hardware. I have a gtx970 and i7 2600k and run xplane11 at the absolute minimum settings. P3dv4 is a bit more flexible. I also own aeroflyfs2 and although it looks fantastic it lacks weather, atc, and a lively environment. A lot of planes fly about the same for me. To start learning a c172 it is probably pretty ok. It has quite some lessons. Their helicopter is fabulous btw and some bigger planes look pretty good also. The fsx lessons are interesting and do work with flyinside, however I kept crashing the software quite often... You can buy fsx for almost nothing and you can download flyinside demo. P3dv4 native vr is very good imho. Flyinside flightsimulator (the standalone sim!) Looks amazing as well but it lacks a simple starter plane right now. There a plenty options and if you like to extend the hobby and are able to spend some cash 1 or 2 Sims might be worth checking Cheers Jozeff
  7. Ok you have it. I installed stargazer and I still have redicilously many stars!! I want half of them but editing the stars.dat file is not working for me. Any thoughts? Jozeff
  8. Wow thanks man! Great info! Yes I used autostars but I ended up having many many bright stars. I tried to edit the brightest stars but the dat file I created just does not work correctly. You know, one dot or comma and the file doesn't load correctly.. Thanks again I'll check your post. Edit: great read but how do I DEcrease the amount of stars and dimm them. I mean, the pixels in my headset are just too big and bright. Jozeff
  9. Hi guys, A quick question... The stars in my vr headset are redicilously bright and there are way too many. I played with autostars (I believe it's called) but I get even more stars. No matter what I tried in there, the sky is massively filled with white dots. I tried to edit the stars.dat file in Excel and notepad++ but that resulted in a pitch black sky... Can someone send me a modified stars.dat file with less bright stars or tell me how to achieve that? That would be awesome!!! Thanks. Jozeff
  10. Hi, I have a gtx970 overclocked and I'm pretty satisfied at lower settings like single pass rendering, supersampling 1.1 or 1.2. I'm waiting for a major upgrade like a really high res vr device. I've been using the rift for over 2 years now. I think the price/performance ratio is still very off. If I spend like 1000 Euro's I get marginally better be performance. My CPU is pretty old so I'd have to change that too. If you have the money I'd go for the 1080 because I have very little buffer to run anything but clear skies or small aircraft in P3d. Good luck Jozeff
  11. Ok guys this is very interesting! Do you mean that it changes the cockpit size? In P3d the cockpit of ga aircraft looks too small for me. I tried flyinside which is awesome but it crashed too many times. Cockpit size in xplane11 is not adjustable also. DCS, aeroflyfs2 have adjustable cockpit scale settings. I really like to change these settings, let's see how it works out tomorrow. Thanks Jozeff
  12. Hi, I have a 3 y old GTX 970 and a i2600 k processor and my rift is working perfectly fine in windows7. Most games are ok at the lower settings. Very high resolution settings are useless because the rift is pretty low resolution. In games the supersampling settings are not that important. In flightsims they are but I'm still doing fine with ss1.0 or 1.1 Jozeff
  13. Hi guys, Hello fellow flight friends I have a question. Just installed p3dv4 and my a2a c172. Have it for years but now I'm setting up my stuff again. I installed Linda and I have a thrustmaster warthog stick and throttle and also a CH yoke. My question is: does someone have a profile for me to use? I know there is an a2a Linda profile but I'm looking for a frofile that's fits my hardware also so that most funxtions/keys are already assigned to buttons. Thing is that I'm having real trouble binding so many functions to my hardware, I don't know where to start actually. I have flaps, axes, light programmed to buttons but there are sooo many functions in fsx/P3d that I don't know how to go on. So, is anyone willing to share their Linda profile for thrustmaster warthog stick and throttle? ( Might also be standard fsx settings, not necessarily a2a c172 specific). Any help would be appreciated! I know there are tutorials but I'm super non technical and it looks like acadabra to me! Cheers Jozeff
  14. Thanks a lot! I have 4.3 but was wondering if p3dv4.4 was better. I love the option flyinside offers but it is so unstable sometimes that I don't want to spend 30 Euro's for an unstable product. Never tried flyinside with p3dv4 though. Would that be useful? Cheers Jozeff
  15. Hi everyone! How is native VR in 4.4? I like native vr in P3d. Have been playing with flyinside but it kept crashing randomly too many times. I love it's performance however. I wonder if 4.4 has vr menus? Thanks a lot Cheers Jozeff
  16. Hi, try to switch to windows 7 and fsx steam edition or p3dv3/4 I very strongly advise you to not invest too much time in Vista! Setting up vr win7 is easy! Cheers
  17. Yes, that is true. It is working in p3dv3 perfectly however. Even in VR it looks great. A p3dv4 version is being worked on they say. The dodosim Huey is in development.......in 2009 they posted that. A decade is unbelievably long in the digital world...don't wait for that one. Too bad hovercontrol seems offline though. Great website for helicopter lovers like me.
  18. Hi all, I love the dodosim 206 in P3d and a lot of helicopter info is located at www.hovercontrol.com. This site seems to be offline the last couple of days....what is wrong there? Thanks! Jozeff
  19. Hi all, I tried the demo and actually I'm pretty impressed. The interface is very good compared to xplane11 vr and P3d where I have to take my headset of all the time. The settings change very quickly and are easy to handle. I tried the b55 milviz and that is a good plane as default right? The graphics are not to overwhelming but in VR that is a good thing as far as I think. It is quite fluid. Aeroflyfs2 is better in many ways but I don't really like their sterile planes and flight Dynamics. The difference between a c172 and a learjet are hard to spot for me in that sim. I think Dan has developed a great product so far. If he keeps developing it this might be something to remember! Jozeff
  20. Tnx! Clicked on the link but all info is 5 years old.... What makes you think it's getting close? Grtz Jozeff
  21. Well the shader trick did it. After running orbx lib in ftx however the textures were all water again and I have to add the areas to library in P3d.
  22. Dear all, Have been flying lots of helicopters in DCS and Xplane and they are awesome. I love native VR in p3dv4 but I miss a really good heli. HTR and mpdesign and cabri g2 are ok but I miss the dodosim 206. It was pretty amazing. Any chance it will be patched to V4? Is anybody working on a 64 bit version? Thanks in advance Jozeff
  23. Hello everyone, I have P3dv4 running with orbx the Netherlands, Wales, UK and Aerosoft Helgoland installed. After running ftx Central and updating libraries my scenery is all water all over the world...... Trees are floating on it. All scenery, not only orbx, seems to have this. Any thoughts?? The scenery order seems to be ok in P3d.
