  1. So, does it work??? If it does, it's brilliant...
  2. Hi guys, Enjoying xplane11 in VR especially since 11.50 beta. I have one issue However. Why do my ga aircraft feel so stable? I was flying near svalbard this morning with heavy storm in my rep simcoders 172. My plane just went perfectly straight without any movement. I could land it perfectly on a rocky area without any problem. I have active sky xp. I changed to just flight c152 and that one was equally stable. I have aeroflyfs2 and those planes also have this on rails like behavior. I have used p3d a lot and the a2a cessna172 was always very agile and making squeaky sounds and was sometimes very hard to land with certain winds. Thanks for any thoughts!! Jozeff
  3. I'd really love to know because I have exactly the same experience as Simba! Cheers Jozeff
  4. Hi, I went from cv1 to rift s and was pretty pleased with visual upgrade but not flabbergasted. I expected a little more visual fireworks after owning the cv1 for 3 years. I also upgraded to 2080ti and 9700k simultaneously so my improvement in visual quality (not perse resolution wise) and fps were major compared to my old system and cv1. However, I really wanted the reverb but due to all quality issues last summer and the fact that it is not as plug and play as the rift s I decided otherwise. The Oculus software is very good and fast (after a few reinstallments and a few HDMI issues) and the rift s somehow performs better than the cv1 on the same system despite it's higher resolution. P3dv4 had major issues with crash to desktop and I finally ditched that stuff. I'm really into xplane11 now and that runs pretty awesome on my new system. It was unplayable on my old PC. Afs2 runs like butter but I find it rather boring with no weather or life in that sim. Dcs is great but rather complex for me since I only play a couple of hours per week... Valve index looks pretty good but it is expensive. Vive cosmos is rather disappointing after reading many reviews but I can't judge that myself. What are your system specs? Cheers Jozeff
  5. Ok I got it working. There was an error with librain plug-in. Just followed the manual. Cheers Jozeff
  6. I love the slant alpha no gps mod by miniwebbs. I tried to use it with simcoders REP c172 however and I copied the Cessna 172SP Slant Alpha V1.0.3 folder into my REP c172 folder. Xplane gives me a few options in the airplane screen. I can choose the slant alpha mod with no REP or the REP model without the slant alpha mod. In other words: I cannot manage to have them working together. I can choose the "aircraft/Laminar Research/c172SP Skyhawk REP/Cessna 172SP Slant Alpha V1.0.3 /Cessna_172.acf" plane but I get the slant alpha mod working but no REP menu or options. If I choose the aircraft/Laminar Research/c172SP Skyhawk REP/Cessna_172SP.acf airplane I only get the REP and not the slant alpha mod. If i copy the content of the Cessna 172SP Slant Alpha V1.0.3 folder and overwrite stuff in my Rep folder I get 2 cockpits in 1 screen!!. I know a lot of people are using this so it has to work somehow. Any help would be great!!! thankyou Jozeff
  7. Have been visiting avsim for years and more and more frequently the last couple of months. It has been a truly outstanding source of information for our flightsim enthusiasts. Have been reading a bit about Tom's pioneering work and I'd would like to thank him a lot for all the magnificent dedication he had for the community. I wish his family all the best and I hope they are doing well after loosing a dear family member. Jozeff The Netherlands
  8. Hi there, Have been trying to get larger waves because my xplane 11 water is flat and lifeless. I replaced the "any" water tile in bitmaps/world/water and that looks a bit better. However I love the look of 20 ft high waves and there is a Lua script for that. No matter what I try, the water remains flat as a pancake. I removed all scripts but the wave-script for waves but no luck so far. I tried 2 or 3 different scripts but they just don't work. I have the most recent flywithlua. I use asxp for weather so I cannot change wave heights myself. Any thoughts would be great! Jozeff
  9. Welll, you have a point there. It is kind of boring without the shadows I must admit. I thought the fps increase would be enormous but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thank you anyway! Jozeff
  10. It works Marcus! Thanks a lot. Downloaded the dataref editor and changed the value to 0. It doesn't save the value however. I have to change the setting each time I fore up xplane11....is there a way to save this setting? Cheers. Jozeff
  11. Great stuff I'll give it a try! Thanks very much for stopping by. I had no idea I could do it while flying and seeing the result at the same time. Thanks again I'll let you know if it worked!! Jozeff
  12. Hi guys, See my question..... Tried several Lua scripts I found online but my shadows keep appearing. Due to fps issues I'd like to disable cockpit shadows completely but I don't know how? Any tips? Thanks in advance! Jozeff
  13. Ok thanks guys, Is there a way to brighten the instrument lights in the standard/rep c172? I find these very dim in my rift s headset. The airfoillabs plane has much brighter instrument backlights as does the just flight 152... Thanks again! Jozeff
  14. Hi guys, I have owned the airfoillabs c172 for three years now. It is a great airplane but I never really started to learn how to fly it. It used to be very hard on fps but that seems to be better now. I solely fly in Oculus rift s btw. I'm tempted towards the simcoders rep version but I don't know if that plane is as good and different to spend 20 Euro on. I'm not really interested in the maintenance part of the sim. The flying/sound/looks of it are most important to me. I find the lighting in the default c172 rather dim and I wonder if that is better in the rep version? Is there a way to brighten the c172 panel lights a but more?? Thanks in advance! Jozeff
  15. Ok thanks a lot! Which overlay van be placed on top of alpilot v4 hd? Jozeff
  16. Hi guys, Fixing my xplane installation and I would like to know which scenery is currently best for Europe, ga flying in VR? Is it alpilot hd4 + overlay + x.-europe 3 or something? I'm a bit confused by the simheaven website. Thanks for your thoughts?? Jozeff
  17. Bought it way back for 70 Euro.... It was extremely heavy on my old rig. Couldn't use it in vr for quite a while so discontinued to use it. Development is very very slow and TBH I lost interest in it. Cheers Jozeff
  18. Hi guys, Have been using p3d for quite a while in vr mode. Recently I re-installed everything again and bought a rift S. Things were OK but now p3d just suddenly closes when I enable vr oculus mode. No crash or error, it just closes itself. Where can I find a log file and see what's happening?? I deleted the p3dv4 folders in appdata and local I believe and let p3d build theses folders again. Vr worked for half an hour but after restarting my computer it is the same crash again. I have orbx global and some area's installed but I used them in my previous installation without problems. I also uses tomatoshade. The default flight also crashes in vr.... Thanks for any insight! Jozeff
  19. When you use vmi twick vr and supersampling 1.0 you might get some decent performance with a minimum card but no eye candy to be honest... Personally I had a hell of a lot more fun with p3d, DCs, afs2 and il2 sturmovik with my low end system.. xplane 11 was the only sim that was almost useless in vr.
  20. Hi, Have been using a i7 2600k, gtx970 and 32gb ddr3 memory for three years with my cv1. Since the 970gtx is vr ready I could fly in xplane but the graphics were not impressive to say the least. I would say you'd need a much better graphics card then my old card to get good results. In your price range there is no graphics card that can do this in my opinion.... Maybe 2nd hand 980ti or something.i have a 2080 super now and that makes all the difference but that thing cost me 800 Euro.. I also bought a rift s and I must say that it runs smoother on my old system then the cv1 for some Reason. If I were you I'd probably wait and save some cash for a future update and see what xp12 or fs2020 will bring and enjoy your current Sims that do work!! Cheers Jozeff
  21. Hi guys, I'm still very in doubt about buying the Rift S or the reverb...... After thinking a bit I am willing to spend some cash on a gtx2080 and a i7 9700k and some high end memory. I have a rift cv1 right now and looking for some better vr experience. I've been reading so many reviews about defect reverbs that I am very hesitant to spend the cash on it. The rift s is cheaper and performance will probably be better than the reverb. Also I read some negative things about washed out colors in the reverb and a very small sweet spot. Coming from a cv1 will a rift s give me the upgrade I've been looking for?? Thanks Jozeff
  22. Hi Guys, I have a gtx970, I7 2600 k and 32 Gb memory. I will have to upgrade weather I buy the rift S or the Reverb. Thinking about a 2070 super, i7 9700k and a lot of memory. Currently I have the CV1 and I have doubts about: -the Rift S because I don't know if the resolution improvement is enough compared to the CV1 -the Reverb because I will have to spend a lot of money on the graphics card and I dont know if the colors are vibrant enough and if the brightness is ok. Really looking forward to someone who used the rift s and has the reverb right now!! thanks a lot Jozeff
  23. Thanks a lot! Because of your advice I'm not planning on buying the reverb. You convinced me I need a 2080ti and that is really not in my budget. As I mentioned above I'm looking for the following to accompany my Rift S. Would that work? i7 9700 k MSI Z390-A PRO motherboard Msi 2070 super 32gb 3200 Kingston memory Thanks for your useful advice!! A VR flight experience is for fun, a few hours a week. My wife gets hickups when she sees the 2080ti prices 😄😄 Jozeff
  24. Hi guys? Since I started this topic 😜😜 a little question I'm planning on buying the rift S. What I'd like to purchase also are... i7 9700 k MSI Z390-A PRO motherboard Msi 2070 super 32gb 3200 Kingston memory Do you think this is going to work? Thanks for any advice!! Jozeff
