About Me

  • About Me
20 year old Commercial Pilot, new to simming.
  1. Hi all, I have two ORBX sceneries - North and South Island of New Zealand when I do a flight from the North to the South I come into land and the scenery is even worse than default. It's like it takes ages to load all the details and textures so i flew around the City I was landing in for approx 5 minutes and it started to load. Does this load time come down to the components of the PC I'm running or is it something within ORBX. Having said that, I've just forced migration and updated my ORBX libraries as FTX has said to do. Will let you know that this problem was happening before I did the recommended install and force migration FTX has just released. Thanks in advance Jordan
  2. So I can have one for FSX and one for information on the 2nd. Or just having both running FSX with a nice wide view
  3. Okay all thanks for your input! Does anyone have any insight into what kind of dual monitors I should get to make the experience even more realistic? Regards, Jordan
  4. Hi all, I'm still very new to simming and am absolutely loving it. Being a real world Commercial Pilot is great but being able to do everything so realistic from my bedroom is also great! Now I'm currently running my FSX SE off of a laptop which is just not doing the job anymore with all the add-ons I've bought so I'm looking to build my first PC. After careful research I've come up with a list of components that I think would suit the job and as I'm not the smartest cookie in the jar when it comes to PC components I thought I'd give you guys a list to check over and see whether you can give me tips where I could save money on components or have alternative components that are just as good and for around the same price. All information will be taken on board and I greatly appreciate all your opinions! My current list of parts I was thinking to buy is as follows: - Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler - Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard - G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory - Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card - EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply - Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer - Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition (2-Pack) 62.7 CFM 120mm Fans Still undecided: - Monitor x 2 - ATX Case - Operating System ANY HELP/TIPS/INFORMATION/OPINIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thank you all in advance! Jordan EDIT: Still also undecided on what kind of Joy Stick! I currently have a logitech extreme 3D but looking to get a new one and some rudder pedals!
  5. I'm doing the updates now. Will check in Sim and do a flight I know was bugging out with the migration of ORBX sceneries and get back to you. Regards, Jordan
  6. Okay thank you for your input. It's really weird that this has been happening just over the last 2 weeks where the previous months I'd been using FSX with all the addons and same cfg and settings I was able to multi task and be fine.
  7. Hi all, Rather new to simming and this is my first post after just joining the Avsim community (I do apologize if this thread is in the complete wrong place) So recently when I've been flying on FSX:SE I've been ALT + Entering to get into window mode and then check ATIS and Skyvector and other sites on Chrome while flying but as soon as i get into window mode and click on my desktop FSX crashes. I've got some event viewers which I think should help someone hit the nail on the head here and basically any help is appreciated. Do bear in mind I have been googling for about 2 weeks now a fix to this and have still come up short. Disclaimer: I am using a laptop and it actually runs really well 20-40 FPS with FTX sceneries, REX OD and Aerosoft A320 which is surprising but it does run well. These crashes never used to happen! Straight from my event viewer I get 2 Application errors - First one Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.62615.0, time stamp: 0x559f9a9a Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.10586.306, time stamp: 0x571afb7f Exception code: 0xc0000008 Fault offset: 0x00026e13 Faulting process id: 0x1e8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d1d66d78f5fe82 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\fsx.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: 5bf49a66-b20a-4ad4-84eb-507cc3247b61 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Second one Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.62615.0, time stamp: 0x559f9a9a Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.10586.306, time stamp: 0x571afb7f Exception code: 0xc000041d Fault offset: 0x00026e13 Faulting process id: 0x1e8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d1d66d78f5fe82 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\fsx.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: 02ed35b1-1e73-4012-a337-253b641027e0 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Let me know if anyone needs any more information and I will try my best to get it for you. Laptop I'm running it off is a Acer aspire v3-572g 16gb RAM, i74510u Dual Core 2ghz - 2.6ghz turbo and Nvidia Geforce 840m Graphics card. Thank you in advance!
