Flight Sim Blog - Performance Fix!
Will Fly For Cheese replied to bobcat999's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Okay. I understand. i've done it - as you said - and the frames are looking a bit snappier than they were. Going up now and will report back. (And I BACKED UP the files in to a separate Folder so they can be put back) -
Flight Sim Blog - Performance Fix!

But isn't it the same as P3D with Vanilla scenery or P3D with Orbx England installed? - you're going to take a Frame hit for the latter (typically 15-20 FPS) Someone has figured out that if you remove complex Airports from the sim in MSFS 2020 you're going to gain frames. Did we not know that? -

They should stick to fixing the Tree Draw Distance. However, Bobcat - being a qualified MSFS2020 Test Pilot - I will try it now. . . If I'm not back here posting in 30 minutes assume the worst. -

Excellent. See you up there. 🙂 -
Well Done and Well Done again! Absolute bugger isn't it? I actually (real World) drove passed this place before attempting it in the sim - I only live a few miles from here - and the trees are Elms and Beeches and they are massive at either end. Like I said - you've got to be well at the back of the curve for Speed/ Approach, etc. But if you landed okay, and lived to tell the tale you've done excellently and well done again! You'll never have to test your bravery in any other way. Go straight to the top of the STOL Class.

Did you do the Virtual Memory setting as well? Never mind - leave everything as is and do some more flying. Encouraging news Bob. Well done. -

Right. With 16 GB of RAM you need to. It could explain all your CTDs. I have 16 GB 2133mhz RAM and my page file is set to; Min - 12000 Max - 22000 Try that and go flying. -

Time, time and more time. . . A combination of scrutinising Resource Monitor for what was loading in to RAM and from the disk. That little fellow kept appearing and stalling in RAM whilst others were going in and out like dogs at the fair. A lot of other files died from the Official folder so that that one could be identified. -

Before you download the whole lot Bob.Can you go to the Official Folder - OneStore - and Delete this file: fs-base-nav Log out of the MS Store - Restart the PC - Login to MS Store. Start MSFS 2020. On the Updates page it will prompt you to download files - I think about 1.5 GB. Let it run. . .Not saying it will work for you but when I had my CTD week of Horror - that file was the culprit. -

Little Navmap / ILS feather
Will Fly For Cheese replied to Cloudpiercing's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Asking the obvious - does the airfield have an ILS Approach? If so are you enabling sufficient detail on the map display - there are two buttons on the top row of buttons with "+" and "-" to increase/ decrease map detail. -

RNAV options in MCDU
Will Fly For Cheese replied to NZAA's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Some are suing DME crossing references, some aren't, and they might differ in RNP. They'll all get you there in the end though. Here's someone who can explain it better than me. https://www.flyingmag.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-rnav-gps-approaches/ -

Bob, did you delete the CTD VACCINE yet? Let me know when you have. If you want some help getting MSFS 2020 back up to speed. -

The CTD Vaccine registry hack did something to GPU Scheduling I think. Have you tried ditching it and deleting the registry values. Might be it's too much for the updated performance and is now being counter-productive. I'd be getting rid of stuff I've done, before overlaying further layers of fixes. Worth a go and report back. I'm a great believer in keeping stuff Stock, and going from there - and there's nothing wrong with your stock PC specs. Somebody on the CTD Vaccine thread posted a How To Undo the Registry Entry if you need it; https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/596695-anti-ctd-vaccine/ -
Marsh Court, Stockbridge, in the UK. Head South from the village about 1/2 NM and find the grass strip running besides the river. It's in the sim very nicely and there are TALL trees both ends making your effective landing length - very short indeed. Check Google Earth. Just to your right of that little lake to the south of Stockbridge and where it says Marsh Court. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Stockbridge/@51.1023314,-1.4938242,4491m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x4873f0ba02a8869f:0xba25b0c3aa21e79f!8m2!3d51.116603!4d-1.484301 Absolute bugger. Very little space to turn the ship for takeoff too so take care. Nearest civilised runway is either Popham or Southampton. If you want a bearing it's just over 10NM from the SAM VOR (113.35) on 327° It's difficult to find. Keep yourself high. Give yourself a long In approach. Definitely right at the "back-of-the-curve" for Speed and Flaps. X-Cub's perfect for it. Good Luck! - (you're going need it)
