Today the route will be... hum... should be VFR. But the real MSFS weather didn't agree. But it's in the sim and I want to continue testing SayIntentions AI ATC with this expected 45 minutes flight. Should be challenging to depart with this weather and catch Flight Following to finally certainly reach clear-sky at Banning (screen shots from iPad ForeFlight). At Atlantic FBO with FreakyD freeware LongBeach KLGB v4: https://flightsim.to/file/1499/daugherty-field-long-beach-ca-usa-klgb I use the FLY chart to navigate in this congested Los Angeles area (screen shots from iPad ForeFlight): The weather is really not really VFR compatible for my plan, at departure: At destination, it should be ok 😉and it's not a surprise knowing the area: Taxiing at Long Beach. SayIntention Artificial Intelligence ATC initialy gave me the 26L. And I made a mistake arguing with the AI that there isn't any 26L at KLGB. Obviously, I can't read a ground chart correctly and my departing briefing had to be revised. Anyway, I weirdly win against the AI 😉 after several exchange. Here we are at KILO runway 26R and finally cleared for take-off : It's definitely not going to be a VFR departure. Obviously, it wasn't legal and I get thru the cloud to be on-top for my VFR FLY route. Los Angeles bassin is fully covered. As planned ( 😉 ) the SKC is ahead of me. I really love this real MSFS weather: Approaching the Banning Pass, it's getting clearer and clearer as planned: It's all clear when I start to "firmly" descend to Palm Springs: Get (more or less) cleared for a right downwind entry for runway 31R. That finally changed, lately in a straight-in for the 13R: Atlantic FBO is my favorite (actually, I never went to Signature at KPSP 😉😞... ... because I have the pool in sight! Scenery by iniBuild. Hope you enjoy this VFR flight report as much as I did flying it!

The WB-SIM C172 parked at Kern Valley (L05) early in the morning. It's cold out there. I enjoyed a hot coffee at the Kern Valley Restaurant: Let's get into the sun to warm up Carefully getting down to runway 17 Nice reminder on the taxiway. It's around zero celsius and the density altitude is fine today. Hello the camper! Holding point 17. Isabella Lake in the background. The autumn trees by REX Accuseason doesn't work very well here. The route for today, as seen from Foreflight: Taking off and a last look at the main apron: Climbing 9'500 ft heading south: The autopilot is tracking the direct route into the GNS 😉 It's always spectacular to fly anywhere and having a satellite imagery to make the landscape always different. I can't remember the time where they were generic ground pic 😉 Tehachapi pass that I use to take when going to Mojave from the Valley: The Mojave airport is in the back of the pic in the desert: Solar and wind farms: Descending to Agua Dulce: Agua Dulce is just behind these hills: Look at the windsock. Let's see what is the runway in use: Turning final runway 4 and a look at Vasquez Rocks: Short final Agua Dulce: Runway vacated: Let's refuel. Oh, I should update the price 😉 :

Scenario: VFR Flight from Uncontrolled Airport (6S0) with no Flight Following arriving at Class C airport (KBIL). Contacted Approach approx 23 miles out per sectional with phrase, [Approach, <CallSign> is at <Altitude> Inbound for VFR Pattern Entry Runway <Runway>], received a response to expect runway "A" and then to expect to enter left downwind for runway "B". Read back for pattern entry for runway "B" per suggested response. Continued on and never got handed off to the tower. I ended up getting switched over by using the phrase [Approach <CallSign> has the field in sight]. Contacted tower with [Tower, <CallSign> to Land]. was directed to enter pattern for runway "A". Entered for runway "A" and landed with no issues. The suspected issue is not being handed off to Tower after reaching the Destination Tower Radius. Also questioned the switching of runways, but that may be due to me using the "To Land" after forcing the switch to tower. I've attached the portion of the Log file for this leg of the flight. First, thanks for this great product! Would it be possible when landing at a towered airport under VFR for the tower to assign the pattern entry based on direction of flight? This would involve adding some additional calls that would be recognized as valid. Entry points could be: Left Downwind, Right Downwind, Left Base, Right Base, Straight In Reporting points could be: Midfield (for Downwind entries), X mile base or X mile final Calls to add: <Tower Name><Call Sign><Distance><Direction from Airport><Current Altitude><Landing Intention>with<ATIS Code>/weather I don't think there would a way to validate the ATIS code unless it was stored somewhere in the sim that you could read, but it is required IRL so it would just be there to reinforce correct behavior. It would be cool that if the pilot left out the ATIS/weather at the end of the call that Tower would respond asking the pilot to verify the ATIS code or having the weather prior to giving him the pattern entry. Example: Approaching KSBP (San Luis Obispo) From the North East landing runway 29 Pilot: "San Luis Tower, Skyhawk 123AB Ten miles Northeast at Three Thousand Five Hundred landing with Bravo" (This could be used instead of the existing call "Skyhawk 123AB inbound at Three Thousand Five Hundred feet for VFR pattern entry 29") Tower: "Skyhawk 123AB enter Right Base 29 report 3 mile base" Pilot: "Enter right base, report three miles, 123AB" Pilot: "Skyhawk 123AB Three mile right base" Tower: "Skyhawk 123AB cleared to land runway 29" Pilot: "Cleared to land runway 29, 123AB"

When I'm flying in VFR-mode the throttle, compass etc on the left of the screen and the pitch, altitude etc on the right side of the screen doesn't show up since yesterday. Tried many things to solve the problem but no one didn't help. Does somebody know what I can do to solve this problem?

SInce the 2.2.1.8 update, I am no longer able to get flight following. Even using the Say It function still does not work. This has happened on 2 different flights since the update. Whenever I plan a VFR flight, the altitudes it gives me for entering the pattern stays at my plan altitude. I've attached screenshots of an example. Thanks! Mike

These are a set of scripts that I have written down to help me with VFR communications when using P2A. I though I'd share them here so others can use them if they want as there is not much focusing solely on VFR flight. This is a work in progress as I try document the different phases of flight. I would appreciate any suggestions/corrections that anyone finds. I will post updates when I make them.
