December 15, 200322 yr Commercial Member Captains-A couple of questions keep surfacing in various threads so I'll try to answer them for you here:1) I HAVEN"T RECEIVED AN EMAIL YET:All email were sent as of 0500Z 14DEC. If you ahve not heard from us, perhaps you are part of the 15% of the user database that came back as undeliverable mail? Or quite possibly your spam filter grabbed it, or some other failure has intercepted the sent item. There are a few things you can do to help yourself in this situation. First, the download link/password that is being sent to you is identical to the one originally issued to you at the time of purchase. Simply refer to that old email (we told you to keep it, remember?) and us that download link.Or- if you didn't keep that email- drop us an email to [email protected] and once the server has calmed down well review your account and see about issueing you a new one!2) WHEN WILL PMDG ISSUE THE CHANGED EMAIL ADDRESSES/UPDATED ADDRESSES:Currently I do not anticipate doing them for another 24hrs (at the earliest) and this could slide to 48hrs depending upon the server load. If the server continues to be hit as hard as it is- there simply isn't any point, as none of you will be able to get on the server anyway. Additionally- I do not want to have tech support opening and closing the database on the server as this will only bring it down even further in terms of current capacity...3) WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT LIKE THIS:As we've explained- we have intentionally throttled down the number of users who may have access to our web site and server at any given time. We've done this so as to increase the amount of bandwidth that each user will have while on the server. 4) WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?:We feel that it is important to ensure that those who do get on the server get fast service, even if it means that other must be unable to connect. Not unlike tables at a restaurant, we want to "turn tables quickly" by having folks get on the server- download quickly and get off to make room for others...5) HOW LONG DO WE EXPECT THIS TO TAKE?:We entered the process expecting taht it might take until later in the week for all users to be taken care of... This includes those who do not currently have an email to use. So we're only a single day into the process! We're sorry if this frustrates you- but at PMDG we have limited resources to use- and the expense of adding resources for a short term event is not something we wish to pass along to you in the form of future price increases!6) WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I THINK I'VE BEEN LOCKED OUT?:We regularly review accounts for lockouts and completed downloads. No action is necessary from your end.For those who have already downloaded the airplane, we hope you are enjoying it!For those who are still waiting- we're here to support you! Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com

Simply refer to that old email (we>told you to keep it, remember?) and us that download link.I have not received an email from PMDG as of 2100 hours 12-14-03.I do, however, have the original email and password. I tried link, but it does not work! I will try a for another day in hopes it is simply a bandwidth issue. Thanks,RobertMenardHouston, TX USA

I can hardly beleave this. However, it's not very customer friendly.Nevertheless I look forward for the new version, because you PMDG guys are very good developers (but bad deployers :-) ! ).So let's wait another 36h :-) Pete
December 15, 200322 yr I think its a joke! Ive been at the links for 30hrs. PMDG need to set up a mirror! or allow more people on! So what if we only get 5kb/s! At least I would have gotten the update by now!It will probably be faster waiting for it to show up on edonkey and downloading it there!Pete

December 15, 200322 yr *I* think your reference to a theifing program is out of order Pete. I could care less what some folks wish to take chances of thousands of dollars in fines just to download a 39.95 program but you making mention of it here was not a good move on your part, frankly there is no excuse for this............................[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. December 15, 200322 yr Its not theft if you have a Lic or legal copy! I made that comment becouse the way I see it this patch will be on edonkey before I get it from PMDG! Its a joke! I can understand up to a few hrs waiting but not 32+ hrs. the way PMDG talk most of us will be lucky to get our update by next weekend! Why could they not setup a mirror? Its ok for you! You probably got your update? Pete
December 15, 200322 yr Of course I *got* my copy, this might have something do with testing etc the product since day one amounst other things (Not ALL of the beta testers have it though and are waiting just like you). But back to the issue at hand. 1] It does not matter if you have a legal copy, SU2 is not a *patch* but a fully working version, IF you download off of stealdonkey or any other peer to peer program you could be in big trouble even if you own the original file. I don't think you have thousands of dollars for a patch do you? 2] I cannot help you about the wait, it's just one of those things you must deal with, PMDG have made thier choice and we all must deal with it.....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. December 15, 200322 yr Your not wrong! PMDG claim they allow around 300 downloads at a time! When we aren't on it- it will range from 100-300 depending on load...Robert S. RandazzoPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.comThere own words! This means a few thousand people must have downloaded this aircraft by now! They also claim that most people will not get there files for a few more days! To me this says 1 thing! They sold thousands and thousands 737's.Now each aircraft sold for $39USD this = alot of $$$$$$. Now they cant support us with mirrors? Thanks PMDG!Pete
December 15, 200322 yr Well, yer running a little hot in my opinion, but you have every right to your own opinion.I have no problems with waiting a bit before i can download, i prefer that over having to pay extra for a product because everyone wants a patch instantly. It's great they even bother patching to this extend cause a lot of payware ends up not being patched at all or patched lousy. However, there is one thing which struck me.I saw someone saying 'i downloaded it with 118kB/s'. Now when i read that i think the dload policy PDMG has is a bit off.Why would you want to keep so much bandwidth reserved for those who log on?I see it like this, people on dialup should get it with the biggest dload rate they can achieve, because they pay their connection per minute or ticks online, since 99% of dialup will be with 10kB/s at most PDMG should keep something like that as their minimum upload speed. For people with ADSL...cable...or any other 'stay online forever' connection it really doesn't matter if they get it at 10kB/s or 100kB/s.Sure...100kB/s is great but not if others have to wait ages to be able to connect and dload, and those others waiting keep hammering the server with dload automation. As for the mirrors, i guess PDMG prefers not to do that because of the piracy issue, but i could be wrong.Cheers,Willem A.
December 15, 200322 yr Pull your head in you idiot. I too am waiting - I get on the server (have at least half a dozen times) and it's like watching paint dry - 5 dots on the download link bar then full stop. I guess my partial success may be stopping you getting on but to that I say tough - I'll leave the link open a litttle longer - who knows it may advance to the sixth dot.But am I worried - nope - I know it will come through and I can wait.I get a little sick of the bleating whingers - go fly SU1 - it works and you can hone your skills for the challenges ahead.Andy B Andy Brockbank
December 15, 200322 yr Yes I agree about the bleating whingers! It must be school holidays, so many children around - or are they just child like :)Now repeat after meThere is more to life than flightsimThere is more to life than flightsimThere is more to life than flightsimThere is more to life than flightsimScottYBTL Scott
