SERVICE UPDATE V1.3 RELEASED

Recommended Posts

Captains-A short time ago I uploaded a Service Update for Version 1.2 users of the PMDG 737.You can download the SERVICE UPDATE from the PMDG 737 Operators Information Center.... (If you are unsure of the location of the PMDG 737 OIC- now is a good time to learn! The 737 OIC is a great information resource for PMDG 737 operators... Visit the PMDG page, then go to SUPPORT. Follow the links from there!)The following items are addressed in this Service Update:The following changes were made for Version 1.3:- Added an option in Styles menu for "Sounds allowed in External and VC View" (use this option to select your preference of sound modeling in VC view)- Fixed a bug with the EFIS keyboard handler whereby ND Mode and ND Range were not settable all the time- Fixed the position of the failed ALT box in the PFD- Corrected a true/magnetic problem with winds, so FMC winds should be ok- bearing distance with decimal distance resulted in blank SELECT DESIRED WPT page- DIRECT keyword now ignored in procedures- transitions and approaches etc. can have keywords (such as ALT) in their name- Corrects a bug in the flight model that would pass bogus information to FS9 under circumstances where extreme flight control settings were input and maintained.- Corrects a bug that caused a crash if the user pressed FLY NOW before the navdata had been initialized.- Implemented a warning message for FSUIPC users who select "Inverse Elevator Trim Sense" to ON. (DON'T!)This version is non-destructive, meaning that it will not require you to reinstall liveries, etc. This Service Update is 568kb in size, and will only update Version 1.2 users to Version 1.3.Enjoy!

Robert, I'm not sure how many causes there are to cause the plane to crash FS9 to desktop, but after installing version 1.3, my PMDG Boeings still cannot start up without a default FS9 aircraft in front of it; also, no other plane can be initialized after a PMDG Boeing, the sim goes through one of those obnoxious error cycles for a minute before the error window pops up. This is true when exiting the sim after a PMDG Boeing, FS9 still error crashes on exit. I kinda think the 1.3 patch was not intended to fix these crashes, nevertheless, thanks for all your good efforts. I'm sure this will be fixed eventually!Randy Jura, KPDX

Dear PMDGthanks for the updateI was wondering why the DIRECT command is being ignored. Why isn't it fixed. It is a nice command if it would work :)

HiI am talking about the DIRECT command in the sidstar procedures'DIRECT keyword now ignored in procedures'In Version 1.2 there was a problem when using directs in de sidstar-file. The plane was making a strange turn before turning to the next waypoint. DIRECT is a great command when you first have to overfly a waypoint and then turn direct to the next waypoint without turning back to direct line between the two waypoints. My English is nog very good, but I hope you understand :)Cheers

Thanks PMDG!I would like to say a special thanks for listening to those of us who wanted to hear all sounds in the VC and making that an option! Customer Service like that is what I believe sets this team apart from all others. Thanks so much for the update. I can't wait to shoot some cross-wind approaches next weekend when I get back home.Take care!Jeff

Randy,Just curious - do you have the "render to texture" option selected or deselected? I have the same exact problem should I leave it deselected - default a/c work but then the NG is very unstable. If it's not enabled, I'd suggest enabling it.

Thanks for the Patch! Is it by design (couldnt find that in changes.txt) that the recirc. fan sound can be heard only when the overhead-panel is opened (2D-Version without VC - FS2002)?

HiI have the same problems as I posted in a thread below:"Since I installed today the new service update v1.3 there are some problems with the panel in FS2002.When I switch back from the overhead panel to the main panel, the panel freezes. (all the crt displays freeze) Only when I change shortly the panelview, the Displays come alive again. (The panel sound is also away in that situation.)During the landing phase, capturing the localizer, the loc and glideslope pointers on the pfd don't move."Regards

Robert and team, many thanks for the latest patch, you know how to keep customers happy (most of the time ;-)I have a couple of questions post 1.3 patch.I note the AIR file has been changed, would this account for a noticeable bounce in that aircraft?I took the 737-600 BMI Baby out this afternoon and thought the taxi out was a bit bouncy but paid little attention. However at the hold, throttle at idle, parking brake on, the plane was gently bouncing up and down, visible from the cockpit and in spot view.Taxying in, in landing view, I kept getting warning 'beeps' which I never had before, are these warnings of throttle position or something else?Off now to make sure you get the readers awards you justly deserve ;-)Dave

Thanks for the new update - you must all be keeping pretty busy :-)However, I'm not sure whether it has installed correctly - I have checked the aircraft .cfg file, which shows version 1.3, but when I check the version shown in the PMDG menu in MSFS itself, it is still showing version 1.2.Could someone please clarify? Thanks,Doug

Hi!I've installed the 1.2 version and the update to 1.3 on a fresh fs2004 installation. Now I have the problem that nearly the whole radio stack panel doesn't work. Nav1, Nav2, Com1 and Com2 are not controllable at all. The transponder though is working fine. The electrical system is up, though even with running engines it's the same.Any idea how to fix this? Is this a 1.3 problem?Schimmi

VulcanI think the beeping is the take-off config warning, because you have advanced you throttles past a threshold (40%?) without being configured for take off.Graham

Hi Robert and the rest of the PMDG development and beta test team. Did the update this morning prior to a flight from KDFW to KDTW. I went through the concerns that others have had and I am a little confused as to why we get such different results. First, I only use the PMDG737 as my defualt plane with FS9 and the new version as the past ones loaded just perfect, no CTD. Since I use either FSMeteo 6.4 or ActiveSky2004 is have "DESELECTED" Render to Texture in FS9 to prevent the blinking panel. No problems have been encountered there either. The jet stream is crossing the USA between Dallas and Detroit and the AP held the many wind fluxiations perfect. Even with the terrible weather in Detroit with low ceilings and snow, the AP held perfect on the approach into Detroit's Metro Airport.I must admit for the first time, I did read the FAQ's on your web site and made some changes to my FS9.cfg as suggested and things were better, thanksJust wanted to let you guys know that on MY system, things went very well today.ThanksBob Johnson

PMDG Thanks Again!!!I have successfuly installed 1.3 and my sideslip problem is gone!I have performed a crosswind landing with a wind component of 32 gusting 38 (from 90 degrees) using the FD until 100' and then manually landing the aircrat. Uncrabed at around 50' AGL. There was absolutely no tendency to sideslip upwind - the landing was a complete and very rewarding SUCCESS!!!Great!!!
