October 10, 200817 yr Commercial Member Captains-I am going to get to bed early tonight for a change (1am wahoo!) but thought I'd drop you a note to keep you posted on how the release preparation is going for the PMDG MD-11.Earlier today, we sent out Release Candidate 4, as I mentioned we were planning. We are still awaiting some specific feedback on a few items from the Beta team. We have seen just small amount of feedback on the critical item we wanted them to check, and I think we will probably want to send them at least one more release candidate before we give the airplane to you.We are really looking to provide you with an MD-11 flying experience that exceeds all of your expectations and the extra time and caution we are taking with the final version is indicative of a completely different design and testing process that was implemented with the PMDG MD-11 development.(This airplane has been in active testing since January, 2006.)The preparation for release continues, and we are finding a few more loose ends related to liveries and manuals and the website that we want to tie up neatly before we issue the release. The goal for us, quite simply, is to have a this release go so smoothly that you find yourself climbing away from your home airport with a big smile on your face because we have take a few extra hours and days to make absolutely certain your airplane is ready for you.Right now the only thing we know for certain is that the release will not happen on Friday, but we are still within the "before 14OCT08" schedule with plenty of margin.Also... I mentioned that we *anticipated* getting the liveries and manuals up for you on Thursday. We have a few more details to square away before we can do that. I'm shooting for tomorrow- but right now all i can promise is that it'll happen "sometime before release."(And that is a quick lesson on why we don't like giving release dates... as soon as you set one- something always comes up!)I'll likely have a few posts here in this thread during the day on Friday to keep you posted as to our progress toward things.So- thank you for your enthusiasm for this, our first fully new product release in more than three years. We are very excited for you to fly our MD-11! Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com

October 10, 200817 yr Hi Robert, got a few questions for you unless you asleep already. Will the FS2Crew for the MD-11 be made available to purchase on the PMDG Web site?I watched a video demo of the 747 version this can be a very useful tool when it comes to the operation of the plane.Second Have they made any announcement to which airline they are modeling the MD-11 version after or will we have to find out about it when we get it?I also realize you may not know the second one. I am not to worried about it, it would be something that would be handy to know if you can answer it. If not oh well.Thank YouCapt. October 10, 200817 yr I think I missed it but maybe any of you can answer me.Will the MD-11 use same NavDATA than 747 or will need new format ? And then, will Navigraph offer those close after the release if it's not the same format ?Regards.
October 10, 200817 yr >Will the MD-11 use same NavDATA than 747 or will need new>format ? And then, will Navigraph offer those close after the>release if it's not the same format ?>IIRC, the MD-11 is using the same format as the 737/744. The NGX is/was planned to use a new format.-Lee Barberhttp://home.nc.rr.com/uniuniunium/dvasig.jpg Lee Barber - Rochester, NY PPL-G
