As a general note, I have found that nVidia drivers are getting worse not better.

Hi,>> I don't have any of the font problems mentioned in this thread.>>>> As others suggest, maybe you have graphic card issues. What are your settings? What resolution do you run FS at, and on what sized monitor? The "problem" with the text on the FCP particularly, is as a result of the way FSX scales the screen. I get this too, but equally with taxi way lines etc.. that I see out the window. At 1.00x there is no issue, but at 0.60x, there is. There is little that can be done as it is down to how FSX is handling it.If I want to read something, I zoom - it's not a big deal IMHO!Best regards,Robin.

I have no opinion yet about the flight model, but I agree about the VC issue.- Besides the text problems, the general quality is, by PMDG standards, poor, and I thing is a step back from the 744 which in my opinion is much better done.- I found the buttons text almost unreadable, I tried all resolutions and the buttons begin to be almost readable at 1680 +, even with AA at AF both at 16.-I hope that, as it was recently recognized by PMDG support as a mipmap issue, it should be fixed quickly.-Intel E8400 @ 4 Ghz4 Gb RamGForce 8800 GTX 512XP SP3FSX SP1

It really could be that the font are (accurately) smaller on the MD11 vs the 744. I had AA up to 32X without any resolution of this issue. We may simply be at the outer edge of what modern graphics can provide on this platform. - 9800GTX+ @ 19x10 (on a my new!) 40" Samsung LNT4081, nHancer Combine 8xS/16AF - A smaller screen with higher res would look better. 40" Really stretches 19x10. In other words, 19x10 on a 40 incher is Not an especially high resolution. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193442.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193443.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193446.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193444.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193445.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193447.jpg

Guys,I know this is not going to be a popular message here and I accept the consequences.I'm very sorry but I feel PMDG stepped backwards visually on the MD-11, at least in terms of comparison to the incredible 747x. The VC in the MD-11 feels like a 'Wilco' type production if others here sense what I mean. One can tell that great lengths were applied by PMDG to optimize frame rates this time around, and this is unfortunately reflected in a watered down version of the MD-11's virtual cockpit. Display characters seem to make extensive use of Windows XP built-in fonts (I loathe this technique, it just doesn't 'feel' realistic). Fonts are blurry with minimal anti-aliased effects and look blocky. I realize that this facilitates high frame rates, but it really does look tacky. There are so also many details blurred out in the VC of the MD-11, and everything seems to be at such low polygon counts that it strongly mitigates the immersion factor that is so wonderfully prevalent in the 747x's VC. Among the examples are the overhead light details on the MD-11's VC inside roof - they are simply hand-detailed, blocky, blurry hexagonal shapes and look horrible. The lack of reflections on the VC glass just adds to the loss of immersion, at least for me. The exterior model seems to make heavy use of mip-mapped textures (another frame rate saver), but it looks bad. The passenger windows simply are simply painted-on little gray squares. I'm sure the depth of the systems modeling is just as incredible as the 747x; PMDG of course is to be congratulated for this technical accomplishment alone.Maybe I'm just too picky about visual details and my opinion is not shared by the vast majority of PMDG customers, but I just can't get past my initial impression in this regard. Sorry. One cannot argue the gains in framerates accomplished by the MD-11 (they are almost the same as the default FSX 747 in this regard), but I feel like PMDG sacrificed too much visual detail to achieve this kind of fluidity.I will say again that by contrast the PMDG 747x is a absolute perfection visually and technically in my opinion. Sheer genius, unmatched by any other developer. I just wanted to point out that I don't have it in for PMDG. Rather, I feel the MD-11 simply is not comparable in all aspects.-Dave Ketchum

Hi thereI must admit at first I did not like the MD11 from PMDG, but after playing around with a few settings on my PC and in FSX the MD11 is now working like a dream and looks AMAZING.As for the people who were attacked because they did not like the look of the MD11 or certain parts of the package - I think they should be allowed to post what they think with out getting attacked.I have found that you can have a FANTASTIC product that is award winning but you will never please 100% of people, hey if you did would like not become a little boring?PMDG thank you for a truely wonderful product (in my eyes) - you guys have out done yourselves...Job well doneKimberly.

Thanks Andr

As I await my gaming rig MOBO to be RMA'd, I have not had the pleasure of the Md-11 as yet. Though I have spent alot of time with the 744x and the LDS 763.However, we should be open to all opinions so long as they are presented with tact and constructively. Good on PMDG for allowing these open debates: for the day PMDG stifles these types of debates (unlikely IMHO) I cease to support them. ;-)
