Michael Pare.Well, I consider in-car GPS systems "toys" too so the HUD in FS and in real life is pretty much a "toy" since it's not mandatory :) although as far as I'm concerned it's going to be a useful tool on visual approaches since there are no or very little landmarks in FS, that's mainly what I'm going to use it for.As for CAT3 approaches, it's not required, it doesn't exist in the majority of the 737's which are CAT3 approved.
