I am using the beta. I am also hesistant to post but I must ask.Over the weekend I encountered a stop error in the Xengine app while flying off the u.s. east coast, but I am hesitant to report it to the beta e-mail address because1) It seemed isolated (it only happened once on the entire 4500 nm flight), and2) therefore I'm not sure if its reproduceable...Do you want any and all things reported? I guess I should attempt to reproduce the error first before opening my trap :) . Are these things due to random processing in XEngine, or are you all SURE that I can reproduce it?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

JimI am attempting to re-create the flight (Miami--->Budapest, Hungary) exactly as I did it. I have departed KMIA, and am passing Walkers Cay (northernmost point in the Bahamas). I am using the same wx file, same a/c, same flight plan, same everything.I will see what happens when I get up around New York/Boston.If it is stable all the way up to Nova Scotia, I will probably stop the flight and assume it was "just one of those things".RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

>>I had the same thing I think it was late saturday night or>sunday morning. I just fired it up again inflight and it was>fine. Prolly a bad byte in the data download or something.>Yes, could be a bad byte or two in the data. The thing is, I did re-start ASX in-flight, and it crashed again pretty much right away. After that, I kept it off for about 30 minutes, then re-started it once I was up around Canada or Maine, and it stayed stable all the way to flight's end in Europe after that.-----------------Regarding the wind shifts; yes they were there, but I was very impressed with the way ASX handled them with this SP. The airspeed was actually controlled, and I saw ASX fighting it out sometimes on both airspeed and wind direction--but it was gradual! Nice!I still have philosophical problems with seeing "WIND ADJUSTED FOR SMOOTHING" in the METAR, but I will have to live with it :) But I would rather see winds not monkeyed with in the METAR data, and let the chips fall where they may. If indeed airspeed and winds can be smoothed to the extent that I am seeing, then it seems to me that there is no need to monkey with the METAR at all anymore. ??I will have to experiment with disabling the smoothing thing, but does that disable the smoothing code? Or does that just make ASX not mess with the METAR winds at all? That's really all I want.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

>Hi Mace,>>If you can reproduce it or if it happens again, then please>report it!>>Thanks,>Jim>I can now report that I did reproduce it and I will report it. It seems to be related to the TXKF (Bermuda) weather station. Because as soon as my plane entered the Nantucket wx station area, ASX stayed stable. But as long as the a/c was around TXKF, it errored-out immediately. Here is a pic: Note where I am, near DANER waypoint, about 200 miles off the New York/New Jersey coast:RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorianhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185965.jpg

>My flight was a leveld from KPHL-TXKF. >Oh, well then that probably narrows it down to something in the TXKF data then.I mentioned that in my bug report. This might have been a bug in any version...may be unrelated to SP3.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

That was the only problem or "incident" I have encountered since I installed it, so it could be a coincidence. But Ive had a few of those once in a great while, prior to the beta too.Dave

Quick question:Is there any chance one of HiFi Gurus could post a Topic with the right settings for ASX and FSUIPC in order to obtain best result?ThanksNick

Dan,I have been having problems in my 747-400X when running ASX. I have just got the aircraft and it flys without a problem with the default weather even through thunderstorms and retains its heading via heading select or maintains the approach on final. However when I have ASX running in the background even when there appears to be very little wind the aircraft keeps banking left and right traversing 20+ degrees either side of the localiser. Its become very frustrating and impossible to fly. It may be down to the SP3 beta I have installed or an option I havent ticked. FSUIPC is 4.25 I think though I have the new 4.26 which I will install later.Do you know of a fix for this if you say yours works fine?I will test later again and try some default airplanes too.ThanksChris Ibbotson
