February 19, 200818 yr Commercial Member Active Sky XRevision NotesIMPORTANT: Using certain antivirus and firewall/security software may cause ASX to lose rights when it is updated with this upgrade package. You may need to provide rights to ASX again after the update. Certain antivirus may also prevent the update package from properly updating the ASX files. If you have installation problems or errors after installing this upgrade, and are using antivirus, we recommend disabling such antivirus and then reinstalling the upgrade. It is recommended to enable new default settings using the Defaults button in the settings screen.SP3 (B1122):Enhancements:- Added new Wind Shift Stabilization feature (optional) which will detect wind shift/shear events and restore velocity/airspeed within 1-5 seconds, making even the largest shift events nearly transparent, and preventing autopilot failures, overspeed conditions, and/or airframe damage. February 20, 200818 yr Damian,Does this mean that if you have FSUIPC 4.25 you should enable wind smoothing there and NOT enable it in ASX?Thanks,Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
February 20, 200818 yr Author Commercial Member Hello Glenn! Good to hear from you :)Yes, FSUIPC 4.25 wind smoothing, using Peter Dowson's new "magic" is far superior than what we could accomplish using the MS-supported simconnect interface. With it, your winds will be smooth always.Since your winds are smooth, no reason to smooth the data and make things less accurate, so we recommend not using the "Wind Data Smoothing" option. The new Wind Shift Stabilization option can be used but probably not needed with FSUIPC doing its thing. These smoothing and stabilization features are essentially there for those who do not have FSUIPC 4.25 registered. They do a pretty good job and keeping things calm and flyable despite the wind shifts.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 20, 200818 yr Hi Damian,Thanks for the info.I don't post as often as I used to!Still enjoying FSX and ASX (along with many other addons!) although my two little girls and learning to fly in the 'real world' seem to be taking up most of my time these days. It's great to see SP3 being worked on. I have been using Active Sky since the WXre days and have always been impressed with the support you guys offer.I look forward to trying the beta with FSUIPC 4.25Keep up the good work!Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
February 21, 200818 yr Flew a PMDG747X KSEA-KSFO with SP3 (B1122) and FSUIPC 4.25 last night through shifting upper winds with marked success. Wind data smoothing disabled, FSUIPC wind smoothing set to 1 kt/deg per 2 sec, baro/temp smoothing enabled. I've got an occasional stutter (frame freeze every minute or so) that I might spend the time to isolate on my Dell XPS 3.2GHz single core; otherwise, absolutely nice and much improved over previous experiences. February 21, 200818 yr >I've got an>occasional stutter (frame freeze every minute or so) Beta is fine so far, but I can confirm the stutter. My settings in ASX are default. Regards, Christoph Reppel (FSX, Win7 64-bit, I7)
February 21, 200818 yr Hi Thanks for the replies, I will add the stutter issue to our tracker system for investigation.Could you let us know your configuration.i.e.1. Single core or multi core.2. Networked or local3. Memory4. Graphics card5. Cloud addon if any (and setting for cloud textures, high res or low res) etcThis information may help is narrow down why this is happening.ThanksCarl Hackmanhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg
February 25, 200818 yr HI, very glad to hear the realese of SP3 betaJust following this topicI use ASX since it was realeased. But until today I still have a problem. No matter which build I use. If I put my plane on VHHH(Hong Kong). The METAR will always be VHCH. Even these 2 airports are very close but the weather are still have big differences in the real world METAR, so is in ASX. I fly online, this is a big problem, the wind direction will be different from others who use AS6.5 or IVAP or SB3's weather. I hope you can work on this issuse. Thanks.James Q Regards Yufeng Faster than the sun, higher than the heaven. Concorde, thanks for your supersonic years...
February 25, 200818 yr Is there any way to get the real winds into FSX like with FS2004?I tried it with enhanced route coverage or without. Wind smoothing is off.ASX displays the wind correct but in FSX it is very different. In the screenshot I have in FSX 267/81 (that was airborn in UK ok) over Frankfort but ASX reports 347/34. This looks more like the real part. This is very annoying when flying online with others. My second biggest problem is the descent. At 5000 still 60 Kts wind, reported 22. Makes the landing very difficult, because the wind changes to Metar reported shortly before landing. Regards, Christoph Reppel (FSX, Win7 64-bit, I7)
February 26, 200818 yr Author Commercial Member Hi,Did you perhaps change the option for enhance route coverage or wind smoothing after ASX had already started? If so you might get some strange results. Try making your settings proper with these options off then restarting ASX (and FSX) and let things depict again. Does this problem still occur?Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 27, 200818 yr I think it was a fresh start.Tried it now again without route coverage but it is the same. The wind is not doing what ASX says. In this case I started with 30 Kts at FL340. Later I expected 50 Kts. During the flight the wind rises sometimes to 50 Kts as the report page shows, but it decreased to 30 Kts a short time later. Regards, Christoph Reppel (FSX, Win7 64-bit, I7)
February 29, 200818 yr I did a three hour flight from KTUS to KPBI today and the winds were close to published and there were no problems with wind shifts.Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam

February 29, 200818 yr Commercial Member I've haven't really has anything to complain about either. My LevelD is doin pretty good. Even on unattended transatlantic flights. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
