Heads Up - ATI Driver - particularly for FS2004

Featured Replies

Of particular interest to FS2004 users is the latest version of ATI'c latest calalyst driver 5.7 - released today.Under items fixed, I quote:"Flight Sim 2004: Launching the application under Windows XP and enabling Anisotropic Filtering (AF) within the Catalyst

Dave, thank you for the update and link.:D Have you tried the drivers? Has anyone tried them? I am curious to see how they work. I will give them a try tonight. I still have my last drivers backed up incase it doesn't work.:DThanks again.Kevin

I installed them ... they seem ok . I didn't notice anything different from the previously recent drivers really but I guess I wasn't comparing carefully.I got the one with the control panel. I gt the one with the controlcentre last time and it's just an annoying flasy interface that takes long to load just to see some car driving along LOL

Thanks Dave, nice info.I will try it this evening and report here.Regards,David

I loaded them last night and see no difference either (compared to the 5.4's). And I agree about the Catalyst Control Center, it's a waste of resources.Doug

was this problem also on the omega drivers? Omega all the way! faster, better quality, and less junk to hog the system resources!

>was this problem also on the omega drivers? Omega all the>way! faster, better quality, and less junk to hog the system>resources!I must agree that the Omega drivers always give a little extra something in terms of performance and quality. I have been using the the Omega 5.6 drivers with great satisfaction so I will probably wait for the Omega 5.7 instead of using the 5.7 directly from ATI.

Where are these omega drivers ? I assume they are made not by ATI?

I beg to disagree about the control center being just a "flashy interface".If you take the trouble to learn how to use it, it is actually a remarkably sophisticated way to guage the effect of tweaking the many available settings in the driver. If you click on this link below, you will find a superb tweaking guide for catalyst drivers, and also a very detailed explanation of how to use the Catalyst Control center:http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_1.htmlGreetings

The problem isn't with the Control Center Dave. It's the bloat and inefficiency that comes with the requirement to install Microsoft .NET Framework to be able to use it. Just an awful process. Doug

If using the new catalyst uninstaller, do you first delete the control center and drivers from the control panel?
