November 23, 200520 yr Greetings! Can someone please advise the actual horizontal width, in inches, of the viewing area? A friend, who does not have one, calculated that it should be 16.97". I have a 20", diagonal, Viewsonic P225f that has a 16" horizontal width. If my friend is correct then I wouldn't pay $1000 just for an additional 1" in width.Thanks.Scott

November 23, 200520 yr Author I believe 24" is the 'diagonal' measurement, not 'horizontal' isn't it?
November 23, 200520 yr 14 1/2 X 22 are the actual physical specs, 24 inch diagonal... December 3, 200520 yr Is there a model number for this?? My NEC 211FE just died so am looking into a LCD type, the Apples seem to be fantastic in colors and price, have a small Samsung 172T as secondary (now primary) and want to get the best for FS, suggestions anyone?? B42L8
December 4, 200520 yr Author Okay, I'll try one more time!Would someone who has this monitor kindly advise the horizontal width, in inches, of the viewing area (picture only- not including bezels). I understand that the diagonal width is 24", but what is the horizontal width? The horizontal width including the bezels is 22", but what about minus the bezels----picture only. Thank you muchly!Scott
December 4, 200520 yr I have been reading many good reports on this monitor, since you have it, did you compare others on performance and price?? Now trying to measure how to fit on my desk and seems to fit (barely) they are on sale now with free shipping so sounds like and early Christmas present is in order........your comments on how this works, have a ATI X800XL video card so should ber campatable.........thanks, B42L8
December 5, 200520 yr For about the same price or just a little more you can get a 27.5 X 15.5 screen size and an excellent picture. It's a ViewSonic 3250W Monitor/TV. It's a 32" LCD screen.Pete S. December 5, 200520 yr Hmmm. One does 1920*1200 and the other does 1366*768. You can't even compare the two...-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 6, 200520 yr Maybe not, but the graphics are quite good in the 1366 resolution even on this monster monitor. Besides I like the capability of switching inputs to view other things besides the PC! I can accomplish this quite easily using the remote. The ViewSonic has multiple inputs and a fairly good sound system built in although I prefer an external amp, for the dolby, when viewing HDTV and DVD Movies. I don't think I could accomplish all this with the Dell 24 Monitor without adding all sorts of input switching paraphernalia Pete S. December 6, 200520 yr Paul, my NEC FE 2111 (terrific CRT) went kapuut last week, so now looking at a GOOD LCD monitor to keep up with all the new stuff in FS........am looking very hard at the Dell 24", there are many for bidding on EBay at around $700 to $800 (incl frt), but no warrantee.......Dell wants $950 with free shipping, no tax, and 3 yr warrantee.........did you compare this way?? Anybody have any experience with buying monitors on EBay?? Appreciate some advice....RRL
