Saitek Flight Yoke

Any idea where to get it? If I am going to plug my CH devices into the yoke doesn't the hub need to be powered?-PPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E6600 @3.2 gigsAsus P5N32SLI-Plus2 gigs Corsair XMS PC6400 4 4 4 12 @810Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigs24 inch Widescreen LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sRaid-0+1PCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLIhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpg

LOL, I called Saitek to ask and they had to escalate because according to tier 1 support I shouldn't have th eyoke until October LOL. Looks like Amazon slipped again...>-PaulI was going to order the yoke last month when it was listed at gogamer.com for $130 (20% off)for Sept. ship but I waited for reviews, so now I'm getting only 10% off and an October ship date.I'm glad to see all these positive words with respect to the yoke. If you guys watch that youtube video in the nexus review, you'll notice at how large the throttle quads are, that was my biggest concern over the CH quad. I remember trying it at AirVenture and was using my finger tips...how can you flying big planes with your finger tips.

I would like to see what the opinions would be after 2-3 months of usage. THe pedals from the same company failed after only 2 months of usage. The Tension is not working any more...Chris

Nope, The Saitek Clamp is not fixed it is removable. Once you take it out it leaves two open slots. I have a glass desk which is pretty thin with the keyboard tray underneath. I got the smallest C-Clamp possible and clamped it into the openings and then clamped it right under the desk. Having the removable clamp means you can use whatever clamps you want... Hope that helps,-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E6600 @3.2 gigsAsus P5N32SLI-Plus2 gigs Corsair XMS PC6400 4 4 4 12 @810Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigs24 inch Widescreen LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sRaid-0+1PCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLIhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpg

I barely have any time on it but thought I would post. It is indeed a better feel than the CH Products yoke. It's smoother and the yoke feels better in your hands--beefier, larger than CH Products. The turn ratio is about the same between the two yokes, maybe slightly more with the Saitek. I'm moving from a gameport yoke to USB so I'm also experiencing greater precision and response characteristic of USB. I like that there are detents in the axes--much easier to calibrate using FSUIPC; feels better also. I would have liked a bit more tension in the axes--much better with the Saitek but even more would have been welcomed. A means to adjust tension to the user's preference would have been great. The quadrant is also very nice. A very firm slide on the controls--better than my Ch Products quadrant. The detent for reverse is very definite, unlike the quadrant from Ch Products. The quadrant comes with 3 two-way switches (6 programmable switches). I'm not using the software with it. I plugged it in and it was ready to go. Need to figure out what to set up for the switches! I still haven't finished setting up all the switches on the Ch Products quadrant. Incidently I'm using both quadrants--one for single engine and one for multi. They seem to behave together. Again, I'm not using any programming software. It seems to be a very quality build. Will it last? Who knows but it certainly is a joy to use. Randall

Randall:Great report, thanks!JS

I don't know if anyone noticed or read the documentation on the Saitek website but for the throttle, they say there is a joined 4-way lever available for the heavies (you obviously have to buy a second throttle). Not sure if you get it in the stand-alone or you have to buy it, though.

Hoping For CAVU --- Chris

I have an e-mail into Saitek to find that out... Can anyone please post product dimensions here.I'd really appreciate it if any of the above Saitek PFY owners could measure up their yoke and tq dimensions separately and post them here. I'm looking to find out the minimum length of table require to mount them side by side in the tightest possible configuration. I have a bit of a problem with table length as on one end I have mounted a keyboard+mouse tray.I just used an Amazon gift certificate to get one of these. Just can't wait for it to be delivered. Amazon says Oct 2 to my NY address. I'll have to wait another week for it to reach Qatar.I really hope it's better than my current CH yoke and the extra space required for the TQ is justified. The primary reason for this 'upgrade' being center detent and metal shaft (and possible better spring action).Cheers,Keith

Yoke width - 11"Yoke depth - 10" (the holding bracket comes out about another inch)Quad width - 3 1/2"Quad depth - 4 1/4"They can be mounted right next to each other so you will need about 14 1/2 inches.Randall

Anyone with opinions comparing the Saitek throttle with the Goflight TQ6 throttle module?Claude

Regards,

Claude Franklin

I'm turned off by the size of it. Sounds huge!Besides, why mount the yoke above the keyboard drawer? I mounted by CH on the keyboard drawer and it's perfect!
