So, ordered my FIRST yoke...

Featured Replies

And I hope I won't be disappointed. Saitek Pro Flight System + extra Quadrant. Going to arrive next week, I ordered it in the shop directly, so if there are troubles, they promised to order a new one and exchange.Any suggestions to someone who never had a yoke or flown with one, what to do? How to configure it? I also have a registered FSUIPC, so, what should I set, etc...?Right up until now, I had Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback II, which has served me really well.Opinions and suggestions are welcome, thanks :)

Word Not Allowed, your about to be WOWWWED. The Saitek is the best out there although I haven't got one (I have CH Yoke) My mate is using one and after trying it out I was amazed with the whole thing. It has a central detent (missing with the CH) to centre the controls with, a much more sensative action and you can even program the reverse thrust into the throttle lever.I know where my money will be going next time and I envy you ;-)

Word Not Allowed and Dave:I fly the CH yoke, throttle quad and pedals- what a difference from the stick! Keep in mind that I usually fly only the PMDG 747-400 and Rick Piper's HS748.I do have the stick in reserve for the SF260 and Spit from RealAir.Let us know how you like the Saitek stuff Word Not Allowed.Dave, as you already have the paid FSUIPC, go to Pete's site and get the CH sticky. You can set up the TQ- or for that matter just the yoke throttle to deploy reverse flawlessly. The TQ has a detent so you are aware of the positive movement. Works like a champ!Best-Carl F. All I can say is keep the packaging handy if you have to return it. Hope you have better luck getting a working one than many of us.

I just got mine today and am very happy. It has a much more substantial feel than my chpro had-I like the metal control vs. plastic, and the feel of the yoke is almost exactly like my Baron-more heavy forces too.The pov button works much better than my ch did-an I like having only one on the left of the yoke. There are only two things I don't like about it. The mount is less flexible and won't work with my keyboard drawer below it-not a big deal as I'll figure out a way around it.The big one for me is no gear/flap control on the yoke like the ch pro.Even though I can program a button to do this-just not the same-I will miss that.However-everything else-a big improvement. I am not even using the throttle part as I already have a real Baron throttle-but it is so much more substantial and real than the ch there is no comparison.Anyone know what the "white board" is that is included with it is for?http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

The Saitek is flat and is ideal for this.Just a suggestion? If you haven't already got them, the Saitek Pedals are much, much better than the CH ones too............and cheaper ;-)Treat yourself, Christams isn't far away, hahaha

I just went out and got a wireless keyboard to just leave on top of the yoke.Yes the clamp didn't really work with the slide out drawer-but I never really liked the arrangement for simming anyway and the top of the yoke is nice and flat and now I can put the keyboard there. No saw was needed-I just unscrewed and removed the whole thing.Yeah I may have to go for the rudder pedals-I am tired of the forever "brakes" on that my old wobbly ch pedals do.First before xmas a "puter upgrade though-it has been 4 years for me.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

Geofa - would you be able to measure and tell me exactly how far down from the lip of the desk that the clamping mechanism sits?...i have a few inches to spare between the desk and tray (its not a drawer) but if its more than 3-31/2 it wont be doable for me.

Geofa, maybe I should just trust you.I tested my Yoke today, and I basically think this yoke really feels bad. Either I got a bad model, or I don't know...1) Lateral is O.K. - it's precise, and I like it, though, center has just TOO much free movement - like it has been used for, dunno, a year or so? Like with old joysticks when you can rattle them in the middle :)2) Vertical - TERRIBLE. Compared to lateral, I can't move it so smooth. It's jerky, sometimes it won't move, then it gives in, and then I slide in too much - pain when on ILS. Hands become much too cramped when on ILS, just because of that.3) Buttons - like them, generally, with FSUIPC, you can program anything, so those come in handy.4)TQ - better than I expected. Levers are nice, reverse detents are cool, but I hate it that my 2nd TQ came with a bad axis, so when at idle, button for reverser activates. Will have to replace it definitely... Though, one problem, when I want to move it from the idle detent, it's pretty hard, but I am sure that with time, it's going to get easier.5) Random Button Pushes!!! - Happened when I had controls directly in the FS9 - now I have them configured over FSUIPC and connected to the HUB, I think it's working, but I am also going to get Yoke unit replaced. All in all, I like the yoke - and I was WOWWED :) after my first flight (mind the problems), but please tell me, how are your elevator and your center working?>Anyone know what the "white board" is that is included with it>is for?For notes :) You can mount it ontop of the Yoke and make notes - completely useless IMO. Though later, if you get that flight screen that is coming out, its a mount for that.

That with an early (bad) one sounds most probable. I will exchange the TQ, but will wait with the yoke, until Dec/Jan. You are not experiencing any of the issues like I do?
