Anyone got any ideas why on some machines, only the older version works? It's much more resourse hungry.

Hi Witlzei,Good compromise !I tried yours and will keep the ini file.Here my settings ; now it gives about 25% framerate loss.I will try making nearby a bit lighter , but it has a certain depth effect.Note that I have all Effects enabled , so there could be a framerate loss.I will test with all enabld and than disable one after the other.Perhaps I can get framerates back .All suggestions are welcome.[EFFECT]EnableBloom=1EnableOcclusion=1EnableReflection=1EnableMotionBlur=1EnableWater=1EnableShadow=1DepthBias=0EnableDepthOfField=1[bLOOM]BloomPowerDay=4BloomFadeTime=400BloomConstantDay=1BloomQuality=0BloomScreenLevelDay=85BloomCurveDay=0BloomPowerNight=18BloomConstantNight=0BloomCurveNight=0BloomScreenLevelNight=20BloomAdaptationScreenLevel=24BloomAdaptationMultiplier=100BloomAllowOversaturation=1BloomMaxLimit=90[colorCORRECTION]DarkeningAmountDay=20ScreenLevelDay=70ScreenLevelNight=1DarkeningAmountNight=0GammaCurveDay=0GammaCurveNight=-2ColorSaturationDay=0ColorSaturationNight=0UsePaletteTexture=0

If it looks darker at night, try DarkeningAmountNight=10 instead of 15
The virtual cocpit looks darker at day.-

Im really liking the effect on DAY but the night time is way too bright for the scenery. I dont use the panel view, as Im running a full size cockpit. Therefore, which way should I go on adjusting the night time values since I dont run in the panel view (Using FS9 btw).

Try changing these settings :[colorCORRECTION]DarkeningAmountDay=20ScreenLevelDay=100ScreenLevelNight=1 ---> try 0DarkeningAmountNight=0 ----> try with 20 for a startGammaCurveDay=0GammaCurveNight=0ColorSaturationDay=1ColorSaturationNight=1UsePaletteTexture=0

Guest ziporama

Just to report that this works great for me using the 185.x NVidia drivers on Vista 64 SP2.It seems the self-shadow is greatly enhanced and no discernible impact on FPS visually - I still have to tweak some of the settings but the effect is quite spectacular compared to the "bloom" mode in FS.Etienne

Thanks Gerard, I tried these and they seem better, although it could be just my mind seeing a difference.

I downloaded and installed the latest EMBserie_for_MSFS.rar that is supposed to change the contrast ratio automatically while panning in FSX. Two files included were; d3d9.dll and enbseries.iniHere are the instructions that were included. "Put this content in to MS FSX main directory. Start Flight Sim. For disable effect, press SHIFT+F12 or remove this files from simulator directory. For additioanl information about this addon and how tune effects vivsit on site:"http://www.boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/index_en.htmlThis link is broken so no information is available. In the .ini file it has a section as follows; [iNPUT]KeyUseEffect=123KeyBloom=120KeyOcclusion=121KeyReflection=122KeyCombination=16KeyScreenshot=44KeyShadow=119KeyWater=118KeyShowFPS=106What do these numbers refer to on the keyboard??. I have tried to research this information but as of yet found nothing.

Any way to get the lovely lighting effects you see in FSX Bloom, but at less perf impact?

Yep amazing stuff huge difference only the default settings are way to strong lol ;-)Tip use ENB tuner to edit the effects :-)
Would you care to share your settings since you say the default settings are way too strong? I haven't tried this tweak yet but I'm looking forward to :(

LOL Six pages into the topic and you ask if anyone played with it yet... :( You indeed needed a rest. :( Anyway, if gauges are way too bright, lower the BloomMaxLimit in the ini. Default is 100. I have it at 85, but a lot of settings need lower or higher settings to obtain the same result on other systems. If you are mainly having problems at dusk and night you need to check some other settings (just read the complete topic! :( ), although it must be said that there are people who turn the effect of during dusk and dawn and night, because it just doesn't work that well at those times.Every now and then I press Shift-F12, just for the fun of it, to see how it was before the dll arrived, and everytime I am shocked (how flat and dull FSX looks without it) and amazed (how awesome FSX looks with it). The funny thing is that I keep on being surprised by the difference! I just can't get used to the immense difference! Everytime I turn the effect off it's like I am slapped in the face... oh man, how awfull! What a difference! Terrifying! How could I have liked this...!!! B) FSX has become FS11. Well... FX10,9 to be honest: if someone could solve the popping autogen it will be FS11! B) (BTW It's not FS10,9/FS11 only thanks to the dll, but also thanks to (not in random order) FTX, FEX and ASA.)
Jeroen, after reading through the whole thread you seem to be one of those most happy with this tweak and I just tried it myself and found the tweak works just fine with my setup (Windows 7 x64 on an i7-920@3.8GHz and a GTX285 with the 191.07 drivers and nHancer with Nick's recommended settings) but I'm a bit puzzled what settings to use, would you care posting your ini file giving you the sensational "FSX.9-effect" you're describing above?Thanks alot in advance!

After installing this tweak one thing caught my attention, in the a/c preview window in FSX a text message is displayed at startup of FSX talking about GTA San Andreas...does that mean I'm using the "wrong" tweak and that there is also a pure FSX tweak? I downloaded the version linked in the first post in this thread.
