Hong Kong City & Kai Tak Airport (FSX+FS2004)

I would like to know more about this scenery and how to expect explicitily in FS9 (in FSX it's a lost case for me). I have seen a review of it but that was for FSX also i think the screenshots are from FSX. So how does it look in FS9 and even more important how is the performence? I have a fear that it might be useless because of blurries. Keep in mind that we wan't to fly airliner jets to it and also pay attention to my systemAMD 64 4000+ OC 2.6 GHz2 Gb PC3200 RAMNVIDIA 7950GT 512M DDR3 AGPWD Raptor 150 GbWin XP Home

I use the freeware 9Dragons version of Kai Tak on my XP/FS2004 setup and could not be happier.Beautifully done and no FR issues or blurries for me.If you do decide to audition it, be sure to get the latest version which includes an automatic installer - and take the time to read the excellent manual too. One of the best ever written.Hope that is useful.

David, you are music to my ears :( . But he doesn't say which Kai Tak. Maybe he is thinking of FlyTampa? I would say if you can fly 9Dragons pretty good on your setup then you should be able to run FT's version ok too... maybe a little more framerate hit but minor.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

You are welcome Clutch - the problems is that I am just too "cheap" to purchase the Fly Tampa version - you guys at 9Dragons spoiled me. :(

You could not be happier with a product that cost Euro 30? If it cost money it has to offer something that you can't get by downloading for free right?

What's your point? Some of us live on a fixed income and need to make do the best way we can.The Fly Tampa version is excellent I know but I have other priorities.
I use Jim Vile's free scenery for Fs9 available at avsim lib. It also correctly routes AI instead of through the mountains. Here are a couple of screenshots.Vololiberista
You really should give the 9Dragons version a try - it uses Jim's Checkboard approach technique - which is a hoot to fly and almost as good is just watching AI craft fly it properly. It is a major upgrade from Jim's fine original release.

I wondered if not the Fly Tampa version was better. But I also agree that 30 Euro may be better spent on other things if there is a free alternative that is good.

You're the guy who made 9D? It is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Brilliant! I take off my hat to you sir! (If I had one) Even the manual is a hoot to read. I mixed it with Thomas Kwong's VHHH and it's great, I just need the PC to match :( . The only reason I will get the FT is for FSX, but if you will update 9D, then forget it!Thankyou again for the hours of fun and the gallons of adrenaline!

I would encourage everyone to update from my Freeware FS9 Kai Tak to Clutch's 9Dragons FS9. It took Clutch 2 years to create his version and mine took 2 days.If you want a payware then FlyTampa has a excellent version for FS9. I also encourage everyone to replace my FSX version with the FlyTampa FSX if payware is desired. All versions including Tom Gibson's 1963 freeware Kai Tak have my AI/User Approach code.

I've tried both 9D and FT and FT wins hands down in the level of detail of the buildings and airport...the FT version is as real as it gets short of flying to Hong Kong and illegally flying the approach in real life. The big difference is that 9D buildings in downtown HK seem 'generic' while the FT buildings seem right out of a picture. There are no blurries and the performance is great. I'd say try 9D and if that works for you then spring for the FT version. So...both are good sceneries, but the FT version is worth every penny (as is the case with all of their sceneries).

I noticed that some of my AI make too shallow a turn and only just miss the runway, not enough to hit the grass, but enough to get handed off to ATC. I noticed this specifically on the FSP A330. The AIA 747 and the TFS 777 are fine, as are the Just Flight traffic. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
