VC at dusk - a few shots for ya. :-)

Featured Replies

Hey guys,I've just been out for my fifth beta test flight, a 1 hr 15 min dusk flight from Wellington to Rotorua, New Zealand. While testing the VOR-to-VOR accuracy of the Autopilot NAV mode, I took a few shots I thought I might post. Disclaimer: These two pictures are NOT straight-from-the-sim, they are photostitched panoramas of several panned shots to give a nice wide-angle perspective.South of the Central Plateau with Mt Ruapehu visible about 30 miles ahead. VC Clarity is excellent at all zoom levels, this is an improvement on almost any VC I have seen.Obviously it doesn't show in a picture but what is really gratifying is - for all the detail - the VC smoothness is just incredible. I'm hand-flying IFR a lot because the instruments really are completely stutter-free and useable. Also, it's REALLY fun to handfly. :-)

Now that the beta is out, any comments on the fps of the BAe (compared to the MD-11X preferably)? Thank you.Best regards, Oliver

It's a tool used to verify that your seat is adjusted properly so that when you view your instruments the indication you get from them is correct.

Damn, have to find somewhere else to put my cap then lol and thanks :( John Ellison

This looks very nice Mark. It looks to be quite a leap in VC visual representation from even the MD11X. Having flown the ###### J32 sibling, I am very much interested in how much I recognizable in big brother.

Actually, the red/white balls on the window are to ensure you have the correct eye position for looking out the window. This is to ensure you can see things you're supposed to see, and for correct approach/landing cues. Can you stop posting screenshots please? I'm going to dehydrate. :( I'm interested to know if the flight computer is functional - so far it seems to be INOP. :( Best regards,Robin.

The FMS is functional, its just turned off in these shots. It's different than the MD11 and 744. Something new to learn. :(

The FMS is a Honeywell GNS-XLS correct? I have found the GNS-XLS to be fairly simple.

Something about that cockpit looks very weird. It's so cluttered, so full of stuff... I suppose I'm used to Boeing planes, because their main panels have been so "full of stuff". n any case, I'm sure that's just how the cockpit of that plane looks and it's not PMDG that did funny things. In all fairness, I can't appreciate the layout of the cockpit, but I certainly can appreciate the level of detail. Everything seems 3D and very well textured, very sharp texturing. I really like the looks of it!
