Looks like you can get them at Best Buy
Went to Best Buy in person and online, and they don't carry ANYTHING like the systems offered on sites like the following:http://www.jetlinesystems.com/home.htmlI now have my computer on EBay and have 1 bid so far. So, I will have to sell it. Looks like I'm going to have to get my new FSX computer system. Although Jetline is expensive, I haven't found anything that even comes close to what they offer. I drool when I think of customizing that XJett 795!Stan

You're right Stan, they also don't offer an $1199 system with an i7 920 pre-overclocked to 3.2GHz, 9GB RAM, and a Geforce GTX 260 like Asus does ;) From what I can tell, they offer a $3000 system with similar specs.
...also don't offer an $1199 system ... they offer a $3000 system with similar specs.
It is my opinion such comparisons are useless and they add little to the discussion. We all know that you pay heavy premium for the latest, fastest CPU, etc. so in my opinion it only makes sense to compare prices of very similar or identical hardware otherwise it is like comparing apples to watermelons. I am all for being a smart consumer and would love an honest comparison of identical hardware and not statements that you can buy XXX for 1/2 price overclock it and you will get the same value as YYY, it doesn't impress me, we all know that overclocking can do wonders to many CPUs even those top-of-the line. However I am all ears for a meaningful comparison... so for example since I happen to be also on the market for a new PC with these core specs: i975, 6GB-DDR3, GTX285-1GB this is what I would like to hear about and not about some 'value' system.

I was comparing as like-for-like as possible considering the pre-configured nature of the Asus system(s) in question. The Asus system is overclocked from the factory and includes Asus-engineered software to o/c further if the user desires. Value means "worth the purchase" in this case, not "cheap" as you presume.

That's a great comparison. Thank you for that. It makes sense to reconsider my priorities.Stan

OK, thanks, but none of the above systems meets my minimum specs.

I'm starting to think about a new rig. I am NOT going to build it. I want to buy a store-bought or internet-bought system. Which CPU, Video Card, RAM, HDD, Monitor, etc......would you buy in the next few months (if you know of something coming out soon) if this was what you wanted to do.I know the advantages of building the system, but I want a guarantee, home service if necessary, and other benefits associated with buying from a manufacturer. Please advise me of the system you would buy if you felt the way I do.Stan
---------------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT: After reading one of your posts, if size is an issue for you, you might want to pass this by. It is a huge and roomy chassis. Front-to-back (I just measured...) is 23.5 inches and the unit is 22.5 inches tall, at just under 80 pounds, in weight. If you have the room to have a table sit next to your computer desk, then it is no issue. I just unpacked a Dell 730Xi7-975 CPUBIOS totally tweakable, 730x built for hosting the high end i7 chips...the EXTREME's i7965/i7975, unlocked.6 gigs of 1066 Tri-Channel1 10,000 rpm, VelociRaptor Hard Drive1 Nvidia GTX-285other stuff..... I have yet to actually turn it on. I will have time tomorrow, but the visual build is absolutely top notch, inside and out. You might want to check it out on the Dell site. It will be around $4000.00 plus or minus to have one shipped to you...but again, this is my second Dell for myself, and my girlfriend just got a great laptop Inspiron 15 that she is all smiles about. FYI.

Stan,There is another way...Find some local guy within your area who can build it for you, provide those "house calls", etc.I just found out a bunch of such people/places in my area just by checking recent adds on craigslist. It may take some time to find who does what and how reputable they are but if you find the rightperson this may in fact be the best way to go. I hate those large impersonal places like Dell withreally inflated prices but I equally hate shipping PC across the country for basic warranty service to some friendly internet store.Anyway, good luck to you.

Finally. I pulled the trigger on the below system from Jetline. I really like the VALUE they bring to the table, because they are FS users and pilots and understand the entirety of FSX. They will even load FSX for you after the build, defrag, add Acceleration, defrag, and go through the painstaking process to make sure it's done right. When you receive the system, it's ready for your addons. Can't wait for it. It'll take about 2 weeks. Here is the system I bought:________________________________________Jetline Systems Hellfire FX9 Series Flight Sim PC Chassis: CM Storm Scout Mid-Tower ATX, with Red LED Lighting (HellFire Edition) - One button turn off of Red lighting if desired.Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium Edition SP1 (64 Bit) w/ free Windows 7 upgradeProcessor: Intel Core i7 975 Extreme (factory o/c 3.86GHz) Quad Core CPUCPU Cooling: Corsair H50 CPU Liquid Cooling Unit (maintenance free)Mainboard: EVGA X58 SLI System Memory: 6GB (3 x 2GB) Corsair Dominator Triple Channel DDR3 1600MHzGraphics Processor: 1GB EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 System Power: 1200 Watt BFG Tech SLI Power SupplySound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIePrimary Hard Drive: 300GB WD VelociRaptor 10,000 RPM, Secondary Hard Drive: 750GB Western Digital Black Edition 7200 RPM, 32MB CacheOptical Drive: 22X DVD/CD Burner with Lightscribe TechnologyNetworking: Gigabit Ethernet Controller/ High Speed Internet ReadyKeyboard/Mouse: Logitech 350 USB Keyboard & MouseSystem Testing: Prime95, Memtest, FSX Stability Testing, 48 Hour Burn-inService: 1 Year Hardware Warranty & Lifetime U.S. Based Tech Support

Mitch, you just bought this? I sincerely hope it works out for you and you get good performance from it, but I got to say that it floors me to see you guys spend $4000 on a system when you could build or have built a system for much less. I considered an XPS last year when I was in the market but I had a system built that was a little better than the XPS offereing for 1/2 the price. To each their own I guess. Good luck and let us know how the new system performs for you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you!Well, right now, I'm getting up and running on Vista Ultimate, and sourcing out 64 bit drivers for my gear. I have not installed any flight sims to date. Still getting used to the O.P. Playing around....this 'n that, lol. Why did I buy? Well...I REALLY liked what I saw in the 730x H20. I have enjoyed having a computer come to me, that all parts are registered and guaranteed to play nice with each other. You press the button, ...and enjoy right out of the box. This is my second Dell...with the first still pumping out full bore, going on 7 years of probably...4-5 hours per day, min. and no parts failure. I use it for work and pleasure. Why did I buy, you asked? I guess like the thousands of others that have a new 730x H20...we liked what we saw! :) The money was secondary. The build quality is absolutely top notch, inside and out. I keep glancing over to the X-Panel and enjoying what I see in there. Satisfied? You bet! I picked a winner. The one thing from playing around....this computer is LIGHTNING FAST! OMG! Wow.... (doing the happy dance....) The Theater Lighting throughout the chassis....WHAT A WINNING FEATURE. There is no place you would work on that is not lit up for you to tink around. It was a well thought out build. It even stays lit when the mains power is off....now that's thinking ahead. Uncommon features...is a Dell signature. Most likely there will one day, be a 'three-out-of-three', lol. Oh...in about 5-6 more years, LOLOLOLOL!Cheers!Later,Mitch :)

You can bet on it. It's great to talk to people at Jetline because they fly FSX every day. They know the program intimately and know the components that have the most positive and negative effects on the simulation. I believe that when a computer is built with that in mind, it's got to be awesome in every respect. With this build, I expect to not have to do all the tweaking I've become accustomed to with my past computer purchases.Stan

Stan, I am also looking forward to your report. The recommended defrag method in FSX (per NickN's guide and PMDG) is O&O defrag utility.
