REX WOW

That's probably a case of people having the cloud draw distance slider set low in the FSX preferences, which is something I don't like myself. Like yourself I want the entire sky covered, which REX will indeed do if you have the cloud draw distance set up high. See my screenshots on the 'enhancing FSX' thread in this forum and you will observe that the clouds are indeed covering the whole sky, with cumulous stretching right off to the horizon.Al

Tim, It almost sounds like REX is duplicating (for a special case only) the same effect achieved by A2A's 3-D ligthts Redux. If this is not the case, please explain how this effect is different.

Rhydian, some users of REX have experienced a weak "beam" for landing lights for the RealAir Duke. We have added an option for these users. Cheers.Tim

Maybe I can help:RealAir aircraft do not have custom made spotlight.bmps. We use the standard one. However there is adjustment possible of the strength of beam within the 3d model. Our opinion about default landing beams is that they are way, way too bright, hence the constant complaints of ridiculously white, great big triangular beams emitted by default aircraft and most AI aircraft. Looking down from above it looks like a bizarre kind of guy fawkes night but not so pretty. So we tone down our taxi and landing lights within the 3d model. However, when other developers make a global lighting package which, quite rightly, globally adjusts landing light beams, usually the globally produced beams are beautifully adjusted and look better. But this adjustment is for the benefit of aircraft which had no adjustment already done. Thus RealAir aircraft using these addons get a double dose of treatment, and therefore a double dose of "dimness" which wouldn't have been there using standard FSX lights. The very generous solution to this is that makers of new beams, like X graphics and REX, kindly offer to make a specially adjusted beam for our aircraft. We are not trying to be awkward or make their job harder, but not everyone owns these fine products. So they very kindly offered to make beams that work both with our models and their software. In the case of A2A's lights it's a different thing. 3d lights redux concentrates not on the beam (as far as I'm aware), but on the SOURCE light on the aircraft which gives the impression of a beam. This is not the actual beam of light which illuminates the runway.Rob - RealAir

No problem :) Many reports have been fully positive so far, with version 1 and REX2.0You're quite welcome Rob! :)
I ask since I'm considering purchasing REX and running FSX under Win 7. And under Win 7 RC I have problems with the free Real Environment Pro for FS9. Under Win 7 I find the graphical user interface corrupted so the clickspots for the buttons does not work.So I have some concerns that I might get the same problem with REX.Would it be possible to run REX on separate client computer connected to the FSX computer through a networl like Grouind Environment Pro II?

We are in beta with our network version of REX 2, so I am sure it will work once we release it. , but I know that several of our users are currently using REX 1 with Windows 7 RC1.

Sorry for the confusion Al, I was stating that the original 1.0 is 4GB, the update will be 100+MB.

Aah, that's alright then. Only joking anyway. Is it really gonna be a freebie upgrade for V1 users? Not really too up to speed on V2. That's pretty cool.Al

Can anyone see me here or are my posts invisible? Bueller?? Bueller? :)

Yup, I can see them, but unfortunately I'm not qualified to answer any of your questions. Hopefully someone will get around to doing so when they know the answers. :( Al
