I finally have a rig capable of running FS very well and I wanted to buy the FS Dreamteam KORD. Alas, when I attempt to go to their site, I get an Apache webserver page and nothing more. It's been like that for several days. Have they gone belly up? I hope not, I really wanted that scenery.KP

Hey Ken,It seems it is a known problem - they've blocked a whole load of IP's at their end, and a number of us can't access the site. I have been in contact with them, but "they're still looking into it".

Hello,Work perfect for me.Drea.jpgBTW if they blocked some IP's you can try to visit their pages via a proxy !!!Regards.bye.gifGus.

Thanks guys! Must be real business minded people if they're blocking IP's like that. I understand the need to control things to block out bots, etc, but it seems a tad counterproductive to block customers and/or potential customers from their site. Hope they wise up and fix this.KP

Hello,

I understand the need to control things to block out bots, etc
If this is for this reason .. it's completely useless and unproductive to block some groups of IP's unless you block all the world IP's... lol. It's amateurism ...Bots and spams (the good one's) will try automatically all IP's and use proxies ... :)Regards.bye.gifGus.

There blocking users coming from proxy servers, there was a post about it in here not too long ago.

I know what happened...they deployed an updated version of BGLMAN.dll to their web server to block web site piracy. The plan backfired when the BGLMAN.dll only allowed people who purchased their software to access the site. Since none of the people who created BGLMAN actually ever use it, the dll mistakenly took them for pirates and is not allowing them access to their own site. So now they're scratching their heads and asking themselves is it really worth it to buy our products, just to access our web?Mark

I can't find anything on their site or forum that confirms that certain IP addresses are being blocked.I would suggest flushing your local DNS cache first:Run > ipconfig /flushdnsOr your ISP may be giving you cirrupt DNS data. You could try an alternative - https://www.opendns.com/start/ . I use this one all the time.John

Or they could simply be blocking web access...I believe that was confirmed. But then again, it could be BGLMAN taking over :)MarkEdit : Ken, you should try John's suggestion regardless as he's is right most of the time and helps quite a few people here.

First, the .dll or the fact its get updated over time, doesn't have ANYTHING to do with web access. The update is fetched directly using the installer, that is entirely separate from the web access control. Also, the reasons why we had to block web access, doesn't have ANYTHING to do with piracy. How these would be related at all, considering that the only thing that is downloadable on our web site is a FREE Trial ? You might have had a point if we had some hidden downloads available only to registered users, so blocking access in this case might have something to do with anti-piracy but, since we don't have anything like that. The reason why we had to block some types of web access, is because, for reasons that we really don't understand, we had A LOT of accesses, probably made by automated robots (not people, but programs that blindly download *everything* ), coming from countries like Vietnam, Yemen, China, Taiwan, Moldovia, Lithuania, etc, that downloads the same files, every day, even several times at day, eating up all our available bandwidth, which ( apart for the fact that we have to pay for the bandwidth ), rendered the site much slower for legit customers that simply needed to access the site.Again, this doesn't have ANYTHING to do with anti-piracy: we just need to have the site accessible for users that are really interested, those robots probably are programmed to just download a whole site, perhaps trying to find email addresses to be later used for spamming, I can't find any other reason why an host in Vietnam would need to download the *whole* FSDT website, several times at day, each day of the week...So, we had to block IPs from those countries, and this seemed to work fine, for some time.Unfortunately, some of these robots started to use proxyies to conceal their real IP address, in order to circument the block we put on their country. So, we had to block proxy access and Tor access too. This seems to have the side effect of blocking some users from New Zealand, a very few ones from other countries too. Apparently, an ISP in New Zealand is proxying their users automatically, even if the user doesn't set a proxy in the browser config, which lead to believe that we intentionally blocked the whole New Zealand for any reason, which is of course is not true.Again, this doesn't have ANYTHING to do with piracy control. Rather the opposite: since we have an anti-piracy system that works very well, we don't NEED to block anyone from the website, first because (thanks to the anti-piracy system) we have Trial version which are freely available for anyone to download so, there's no reason to block anyone, even if he's not a customer, to access the site. AND, thanks to the anti-piracy system, we don't need to block anyone from the forum, because we can be fairly sure that most of the support questions are coming from legit customers, and we don't need to block access to the support forum to unregistered users, like other developers are forced to do, because their anti-piracy system (if they have one) is not very effective. So, is exactly the opposite: having an anti-piracy system that works, allows us to offer a better access to our website, without having to block anyone. The issue we had with web access did not have anything to do with piracy, but are just a problem we are having with spam robots coming from specific countries, that were eating up most of our (payed) bandwidth, making web access worse for anyone. However, we have now removed the ban on proxy access, it would be interesting to know if it has improved the situation for New Zealand users.regards,Umberto Colapicchioni - VIRTUALI s.a.s.http://www.fsdreamteam.com

You know, I've heard some crummy excuses for mis-management of web sites before but that has to take the cake. There are plenty of ways to stop every type of attack without the whole sale elimination of entire countries from access. This type of behavior from your organization is to be expected I suppose, although you're lucky you own the site because anyone else would be fired.Oh, and the bglman thing, don't lose any sleep over it...I was being sarcastic. I guess that any company that wants me to uninstall KLAX because I purchased EHAM really doesn't have a lot on the ball. It truley is evidenced by the way your web access issue has been handled. Frankly, it doesn't surprise me in the least. IMHO...Software EngineerMark

Umberto,I'm finally able to get back into your website. I read your reply and clicked your link and went straight to the FSDreamteam website. I was having the same problem the others were having. Thanks,Mike Franks

Hi,I have a doubt about your anti piracy politic ... when I read this on the Piratebay !!
People know very well that, supposed "cracks" for our products, do not work very long and, of course, whenever an update for a scenery comes out, or even a new scenery comes out, all those cracks (even when they work fully, with ALL the features, which they normally aren't ) becomes useless very soone so, if one really thinks to be so smart to install such cracks, it will stuck forever with that specific version of the scenery, without any chance to be able to use any update. So, that only thing that "crack" does, is to simply advertise the product further, so people will just get an extended trial period, that will works only until the first update of any scenery. To pretend that a software is "uncrackable", is just plain stupid, because everyhting is.But, having a crack that is released many months after the product, that doesn't work with any updates and it doesn't work with any of the new sceneries, it's not very useful. If one is really so desperate trying to use an old version of the scenery for free for a little while, and forever be cut out of any updates, he's probably not very interested in that scenery.Have a nice day...Umberto Colapicchioni - VIRTUALI s.a.s.http://www.fsdreamteam.com
