August 8, 200916 yr And sometimes more!I have the PMDG 747 for FSX that I have flown almost 500 hours. Since I went back to FS9, I decided to get the 737 since it had so many reviews. I feel like I know what I'm doing. I must be missing something because I cannot get this plane to rotate speed until I am at the end of most runways or already in the grass!I've checked the load manager and changed it to make sure I'm light. All systems are checked per the checklist. What am I missing?
August 8, 200916 yr Hello Steve, lets make a short check list again, to see were we are:Plane on the runway - CheckedTrim - Set/CheckedFlaps - Set/Green lightV-Speeds - Calculated/Set/CheckedMaybe there is some CoG issue. It should not be too far away from 25%.Do the engines spool up normally? Change to external view and see if you can move the elevator all the way up and down. "A life is like a garden. August 8, 200916 yr Looks like the aircraft is not properly trimmed for takeoff.I second that; the PMDG 737 taught me the importance of a proper trim setting for takeoff. When I first started flying it I had the same problem as the poster. Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com

All systems are checked per the checklist. What am I missing? Most turbine engines are EGT/TOT (depends on the engine type) limited in warm weather. To know if the engine is coming up to maximum power check to make sure the EGT/TOT is in the yellow arc. On take off do not use the auto throttle. Move the throttles forward until the EGT/TOT is in the yellow arc this way you will know that you are making the maximum power available. Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
August 9, 200916 yr I have been using A/T and I'm only getting a max of 96%. My default 737 (and the other planes I have 767, 757, etc) get to 107 or 108%.The trim is fine. In the green.N1: 94EGT: 692Not even close to the yellow arc. A/T is off. I'm not making full power. Why?
August 9, 200916 yr Steve,You must also take into account the current weather (temp/dewpoint and barometer (QNH) as well as winds) as well as runway length and conditions (rain, snow, slope). To make sure you are using the correct thrust/flap settings for take-off you must either look up the settings in the tables in the operating manual or use a program like TopCat (payware) or Utopia (freeware do a search for utopia11.zip in the AVSim Library). I use Utopia all the time and although sometimes it does make you use most of the runway because of conditions, most of the time you are up before 2/3's. August 9, 200916 yr I have been doing this for awhile. I am taking into account the conditions. I could have the salt flats and not have enough runway here!I just noticed that if I push the throttles to full, the N1 will fall back on its own and stay at 94 or 95. However if I wiggle the throttles, I can get them to go to 103 and the EGT gets to the yellow band! I have to keep wiggling the levers though or it will fall back.Again, this isn't happening for any other plane and I am using the same real time weather for all.Something's wrong.....
August 9, 200916 yr Steve,Have you tried using the TO/GA button with Auto-Throttle and see what happens?JoeM Current Mission: Various IVAO Division VFR Tours Most Recently Completed Mission: World Tour 2011
August 9, 200916 yr Steve,Have you tried using the TO/GA button with Auto-Throttle and see what happens?JoeMI have. The throttles won't go all the way up.
August 9, 200916 yr OK, check your take-off page on the FMC. That will limit the throttles to a maximum based on weight and conditions. See what that says and match it to your readings when you apply full throttle. I'm clutching at straws here but trying to help.If that looks good, give me a list. TOW, Airport, RWY, Weather conditions, ZFW, etc. and I'll try and duplicate it to see if I come up with the same results.BTW are you using the registered version of FSUIPC?JoeM Current Mission: Various IVAO Division VFR Tours Most Recently Completed Mission: World Tour 2011
August 9, 200916 yr OK, I'll try that. I am using the paid version of FSUIPC. I have a home cockpit and use Ellie Systems for my Avionic on two other computers. The main computer runs FS9 only and a projector on a GTX 285. The other computers have touchscreen monitors for FMC/Overhead and two 15" LCD for avionics. The only thing that is weird is that it goes up when I wiggle the handles.
August 9, 200916 yr OK, I'll wait for your post. I'll be away tomorrow but I'll review it on Monday.JoeM Current Mission: Various IVAO Division VFR Tours Most Recently Completed Mission: World Tour 2011
August 9, 200916 yr Steve, I have. The throttles won't go all the way up.When you try a take off make sure the Flight Director, Auto throttle, VNAV and LNAV are disconnected. This should allow you to bring the engines up to maximum operating speed. On most aircraft the pilot has the ability to override the FMC restrictions simply by moving the throttles to the 'firewall' manually. Also check the Cost Index. If the CI is too low then the engines will not come up to maximum speed. Try a number like 999. Since I don't fly B737s I am just guessing on a CI number. Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
