August 20, 200916 yr I got frustrated with Track IR and wanted to return it but trust me, get used to it , and once you do it becomes second nature and you wonder why you never bought it sooner.

August 20, 200916 yr Here you go:http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/04-com...y-profiles.html Thanks and does the 2004 version work for FSX also? August 20, 200916 yr Thanks and does the 2004 version work for FSX also?Yes.Noel.OK, I had to make some adjustments to the default position of the Duke and am trying to find the best position for the l-39. it seem like i have to keep my head tilted down to see the instruments.Map the TrackIR re-centering command to a joystick button. Lift your head and re-centre. Your viewing angle is now lower by the amount that you lifted your head and you should be able to see the instruments. Repeat or modify as required.Cheers,Noel. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
August 20, 200916 yr Assign the F9 "Pause" key to a joystick button also. Set it to "toggle mode". It really comes in handy so you can temporarily turn off and on the Track IR. Makes looking at charts or using mouse "click spots" on the aircraft panel a lot easier, as the panel won't move around on you when you are trying to do it. Also lets you "kick back" in your chair if you want without having the display go wacko on you.I actually have all three "F" keys mapped to joystick button...the Center, Precision, and Pause keys. Works great. Rick Ryan
August 20, 200916 yr I actually have all three "F" keys mapped to joystick button...the Center, Precision, and Pause keys. Works great. That's the best idea right there! Also, to get used to the motion, spend some time in the Trike, Bell helo or the Piper Cub before you get into the big, complicated cockpits. Just do short sessions until your neck and inner ear feel more comfortable. Get used to using the center key fairly frequently to recalibrate your view from time to time. Have fun!Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM
August 20, 200916 yr I got frustrated with Track IR and wanted to return it but trust me, get used to it , and once you do it becomes second nature and you wonder why you never bought it sooner.I bought the Track Pro 5 just 2 or 3 months ago and could not get it right no matter how carefully I followed directions, so it wasn't a whole lot of fun, so I unhooked it and went back to the hat button. It was so erratic and unreal that it was horrible, and sickening, so it has not been used since. Thought it was a complete waste of money, but I will follow the suggestions posted here and give it another go. It should be a natural for the L-39 which I am seriously addicted to, doing loops and touch and go's at Coff's Harbour at dusk. Stephen
August 20, 200916 yr The hat clip was an almost complete exercise in frustration, but the Trackclip Pro works wonders...If you are using V4 hardware you can use V5 software... works even better.Robert
August 20, 200916 yr Stephen,Don't give up on it. When I first got the TrackIR, I was a bit frustrated also. It takes some getting used to. My biggest frustration with it was the cockpit view was ALWAYS moving around, unless I kept my head perfectly still. It wasn't any fun flying trying to "sit still" all the time. But once I mapped the three "F" keys to joystick buttons, it was great. I use the F9 "Pause" button a lot to temporarily disable the head tracking. One button push on my yoke, and the screen is frozen and I can move around naturally in my chair. Push the button again, and I can look around all I want.Finding 3 controller buttons to use isn't really a problem either. Use buttons on your controller that you may have mapped for other flight functions that you really don't use often while flying. I used my CH Yoke controller buttons that were previously mapped for "gear up\down" (it was in toggle mode), "flaps up", and "flaps down". Not having these functions mapped to a yoke or joystick isn't a problem anymore with the TrackIR, as it is a simple matter to now just move my head quickly to see the gear or flap handles and then use the mouse to "Click" them on the panel. Depending on how many "buttons" you have on your yoke or joystick, you can usually find 3 that are "available" for the TrackIR "F" keys. Once you find a combination that works for you, it will make the TrackIR much easier, and FUN, to use.Rick Rick Ryan

I downloaded the profile you suggested, assigned the buttons as you did and WOW, it worked just like you said it would. I have now spent a couple of hours getting used to flying with it, inspecting the corners of the cockpit for dust, and feeling comfortable and right at home. Having the buttons to pause, realign and F9 right on the stick makes the difference. Which reminds me...what does the precision setting do? I assigned it but can't see a difference when it is on or off.Thank you sir. Here I had thought I had thrown away all that money for nothing. I owe you!Stephen
August 20, 200916 yr Precision mode reduces the amount of movement in comparison to normal mode, it basically makes the view a lot more steady when you are trying to look around and click fiddly buttons in the VC, especially when you get to the limits of the movement. Cheers, Andy.
