August 22, 200916 yr Does anyone use FSX with the Matrox TripleHeadtoGo Digital edition? I just hooked mine up with three monitors but am having trouble with it in 2D cockpit view. I have an updated video driver which was recommended by matrox tech support, and ran the Matrox SGU utility to set the resolution in FSX. (4098x768x32). The 3D view is fine and shows a fps of about 30-40. When I try to go to 2D view, I get a normal outside view but the lower half of all three monitor is black. The 10 and 2 o'clock views seem fine also. It's just the front view. There also is a stretched out compass in the upper right corner of the right monitor. Strangely, the cursor arrow is blinking like crazy, and it also shows a small flashing "busy" circle. When I return to 3D view, the cursor is still going nuts and the framerates are way down to around 20. I also installed X-Plan 9 just to try it out and it works fine in both 2D and 3D views. Here are is a picture and my specs if it is any help in solving this. Thanks. Regards, TomImages over 200K files size deletedGateway FX 6800-01e with Windows Vista HP SP 2, 64 bit. August 22, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the help guys. I have 3 19" Gateway wide screen lcd monitors. They are all the same. I was flying the Flight1 Cessna 172 but I noticed the same thing with the other default planes. I am using 4098x768x32 resolution which I selected from the Matrox SGU gaming utility. The view I posted is spread out over the three monitors. I had some trouble installing the software for the TH2G. I called their tech support and they told me to update my Radeon driver and the Matrox software which I did, but the setup and installation of the TH2G said Windows made an error. This was done by the tech guy who had control of my machine. He said don't worry about it and that it should be fine. He set a resolution of 4320x900. Problem is, I have one huge monitor that my desktop stretches from left to right. I had to disable my wallpaper cause it looked weird being stretched so far. I also have to move the mouse cursor across the 3 monitors all the time. Quite annoying. When I try to click on the Desktop Management icon it says there is no Matrox hardware detected. Something is definitely wrong, but he said I would be fine since my desktop is stretched horizontally across the 3 monitors. I also keep getting monitor warnings that my resolution is not set to the monitors optimum. Unfortunately the documentation for the TH2G is not that good. Thanks again for helping me get through this. Regards, Tom
August 22, 200916 yr Hi TomI use TH2go on three 4:3 19" monitors. I run 3840x1024 which matches the native resolution of each of the monitors (1280x1024)x3. It appears that the Tech Support guy originally set your system up to match you monitor's native resolution, which I'm guessing is 1440x900...so 4320x900 would be correct. So, I'd set your Vista screen resolution to 4320x900 - AND - make sure to set that resolution from within FSX. FSX does not automatically copy the Windows resolution.Maybe you know this already, but instrument panels (like the compass you cited) can be 'Undocked' in Windowed mode, resized and relocated, before going to Full Screen Mode.I have different hardware (Nvidia/C2D), but on some addons, when I go from Windowed mode, to Full Screen mode, the outside view looks like your photo. I only display the outside view on the TH2go screens as I use other monitors for the instrument panels. Anyway, I just take the mouse, and 'grab' the bottom of the window, and drag it down to the bottom of the screen(s). No big deal. I just stretch the image back to full screen. The same thing appears with some addons when I switch to outside views...and I drag the window back to where it should be.Also, don't forget to use "Bezel Management" to account for the bezels between the screens. I assigned a key combination 'Ctrl + Shift + B' to make it easy. (I actually use a button on TouchBuddy to generate a macro.) And FWIW, I use 90% magnification for my outside view.Good luckNoel WBrisbane Noel Wiebracht -------------------- [email protected]||Gigabyte P67A-UD7||8 Gb Mushkin Redline DDR3 1600||Gigabyte GTX580 x 2||Noctua NH-D14||Crucial SATAIII 256Gb x 2||CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 1200W||Coolermaster RC-942 HAF X||Dell U3011 30"|Multiple Monitors w/TH2goD-DH2goD-Touchscreens||Win7 64 Pro||FSX Gold

I tried several resolutions including 4320x900 and the 3840s mentioned above. Unfortunately no difference in the 2D view, except a change in framerates. Still the cursor going crazy and missing panel which I verified is selected in the drop-down menu. Thanks for trying to help me through this frustrating problem. Regards, Tom
August 24, 200916 yr Hello TomMy setup is very similar to yours except I was fortunate to get the advice from a helpful gentleman at Alpine systems to get 3 x 4:3 monitors and not widescreen to avoid a very stretched out appearance. If you got the monitors online within the last 10days you may be able to return them. My resolution is 3840x1024@60Hz, 32 bpp and I have tested all the default aircraft and the add-ons with no problems with Vista HBI am currently trying out the release candidate of windows 7 and things look very good except I get a flashing cursor and some 2D panels are black just like you describe.Best of luckIncidently using full screen mode instead of windowed mode improves frame rates a lot.Les

Unfortunately, I got the three monitors together around last Christmas. I wanted them to all be the same so I got the 2 additional ones together. I had to wait till I could afford the Matrox TH2G though. That's why I am just getting hooked up now. I don't understand that much about different monitor types, but was told these should work fine with my system. It's interesting that you had the same issue with the flashing cursor and 2D window. At least I did solve the one problem of the Matrox PowerDesk not installing. I tried several different USB ports and finally got one that worked. Now if I could just solve the FSX 2D problem. I tried several aircraft including the Cessna with the Garmin 1000. It had several more cockpit views so I tried each one. All worked fine except the direct forward normal front view. That's the problem one. The big headache is as soon as I open that 2D window, the damage is done. Going back to 3D still has the flashing cursor and drastically lower framerates. Funny thing is I picked up a copy of X-Plane recently to try it out and it works fine in all windows. Do you have any idea what's causing this? Thanks again. I really appreciate it. Regards, Tom
August 24, 200916 yr TomJust a thought.I recently downloaded the lastest drivers that support widescreen from Maxtor. However it was not until I disabled user account control that the driver was actually installed. To check this, open Device Manager and check if Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition is listed under Monitors. If not then disable user account control and reboot. The advice I got may be out of date by now so don't give up.Les

I checked and Matrox TH2G is listed under monitors, so I guess that isn't the problem and the driver is working? What's baffling me is that things are fine in all windows with X-Plane so why not FSX? The reason I disabled it was in an attempt to cure a problem with the cockpit chatter interface which was all black. You know what? It worked! Why? I have no idea.It sounds like the same sort of thing, so why not give it a go.Fingers crossed.Les
