September 7, 200916 yr is it me or is the J41 just a handful to taxi. she just wants to GO!!! even in flight idle.
September 7, 200916 yr Well, for starters, you shouldn't be trying to taxi in flight idle.I've found that if you keep the torque around 23%, you'll maintain a pretty good speed. The condition levers are in taxi, of course. September 7, 200916 yr Nah, it's not you.Helps to put her in a little beta now and then. Helps save the brakes also. Chad Dillon aka: Dusty (PAEN)
September 7, 200916 yr I actually LIKE taxiing the JS41, and think it's one of the most realistic planes out there for ground handling. September 7, 200916 yr Commercial Member The real airplane, at light weights- would require a modest amount of REV to keep her from running away...At heavier weights youd spend only about 4-5 seconds ahead of the idle balk and then you'd pull the power levers right back.If you needed much more than that to keep moving- it was best to have the payload re-weighed. ;-)I found that most of the time, keeping one engine on the idle balk and pull one back until the REV light just flickers on, then forward until the REV light goes out was the sweet spot for maintaining a normal taxi speed.Ahhhh.... I miss the ol' girl. :-) Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
September 7, 200916 yr I agree she taxi's really well, and a light nudge on the differential brakes works real nice in the turns. Cheers, Andy.

September 7, 200916 yr is it me or is the J41 just a handful to taxi. she just wants to GO!!! even in flight idle.Have you removed the start locks first? I learned that one!, she will shoot away on taxi if you dont.RgdsStuart
September 8, 200916 yr Have you removed the start locks first? I learned that one!, she will shoot away on taxi if you dont.RgdsStuartyes i have. i found that part of the pre-flight to be easy. and i havent yet to torch an engine
September 8, 200916 yr With condition levers in taxi, what is the minumum torque you see? Dan Downs KCRP
September 8, 200916 yr Hope you remembered to check the Gust lock was off too..... like I didn't :( John Ellison
September 8, 200916 yr Commercial Member Robert are you able still to jump in the the J41 and still fly it????I think a picture answers that best.... Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
September 9, 200916 yr I think a picture answers that best....during the co-pilots explanation to the NTSB of his external pre-flight check was, the only problem he had seen was the left outboard tire was low.......in re: to the torque setting during taxi, i'll have to check again when i fly this weekend.
September 9, 200916 yr Instead of setting both engines in idle reverse, why don't you just taxi with one engine?
September 9, 200916 yr Mhedbi,Because FSX doesn't handle asymetric thrust well. Taxiing with one engine is pretty hard in the sim.
