September 14, 200916 yr Just what the topic title says. The 747 had it, so why does the J41 not have it? When I do a normal saving of the flight, FSX doesn't save all instruments - it doesn't do the FMS/CDU settings! So, every time I save the flight and continue later, everything basically works, but I have to reprogram the FMS. Is there a way of saving its state that I didn't see, or is it really absent? And if so, why is it absent? I know, J41 flights don't last *that* long, but when you also do all necessary checklists and whatnot, it can still take two to three hours from gate to gate. Really, I love the plane, but I just don't understand why such a utility should be absent, when it's clear from the 747 that you guys know how to make it? September 14, 200916 yr I guess the short answer is that the 747 costs 80$ and the J41 45$. For that difference we don't get a few features like:- 2D panel- panel save / load- failure modelPersonally I would be willing to pay more and have a 2D panel included.Cristi
September 14, 200916 yr Benjamin,You can save the panel state by saving a situation. When you reload that saved situation, the cockpit will be set up exactly as you left it. As Ryan has explained several times, this was done to save development time, which equates to saving the customer some money. The trick, as with most complex add-ons, is to initialize FSX with a default aircraft, then switch to the JS4100. September 14, 200916 yr l`ve tried the saved state, and it doesnt save it the way u want it.l have done cold and dark with all the switches were l want them.. l go back and some of the switches are not the way l put themalso some of the lights from the panel are also on. Not were l left them. Unless someone has a working one that can send to me, would be greatfulMany ThxPaul
September 14, 200916 yr Kurt is correct. The panel state is saved with the saved flight, we tested this fairly well I think. The caveat is: Before loading the saved flight, load a default flight (something simple like a Cessna or Trike at your favorite small airport just so the load time is minimized). Then with the default flight loaded, use the FSX menu to load your saved JS41 flight. This step is required because of a quirck in FSX. Dan Downs KCRP
September 14, 200916 yr Author Honestly, I've tried again and again, all the way you described, even before posting this thread... I didn't get the FMS loaded the way I saved it. All the other switches worked (as long as I save it under a different name!). I did a cold and dark setup, and after 6 versions of the save file, I got exactly what I wanted. So therefore I find it hard to understand the FMS doesn't get saved. The FMS is saved along with the other switches, right? If so, I'll simply continue testing the saving/loading out until it does work, but it's very tricky. As you guys already mentioned, you indeed have to first load a default plane, and then switch to the JS4100 flight of your choice, and I noticed that panel states are only saved correctly if I give the save files each time I save, a new name, and not save over an older save file. That doesn't work for me, although I don't see a reason for it not too. September 15, 200916 yr Author Ah, okay, thanks. It's a pity, but oh well. At least you can make cold and dark situations. September 15, 200916 yr Commercial Member Ah, okay, thanks. It's a pity, but oh well. At least you can make cold and dark situations. If there are certain switches or knobs which you are finding that do not consitantly save in the correct position, please post a list of those specific switches/knobs/buttons to this post pinned at the top of this forum. If we verifiy that there is a problem, we will be able to repair this for the service update. Thanks! Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
