  1. I have to admit I have difficulties landing this plane.I always have the tendency to float or worse to fly back up. Not sure why, speed is good (Vref + 5), i retard the thottles at around 20ft. Didnt get into these sort of issues on the (MD-11, J41, or LDS 767).Am I expected to retard the throttles sooner or push the nose down?
  2. Does this work with an unregistered FSUIPC version?
  3. I would also love to know how to properly do this!Cristian Ionescu
  4. What would you suggest a 1920x1200 monitor or 1680x1050?I am worried about performace.I have an i5 760 @ 4GHz, GTX460, 4Gb RAM.I am currently running FSX at 1280x1024 an I think maybe 1920x1200 might be to much for my setup.Should I go for the more conservative resolution of 1680x1050?Kind regards,Cristi
  5. Thank you all for your answers and Ryan for the confirmation.Cristian Ionescu
  6. Can anyone from PMDG please confirm this?Cristian Ionescu
  7. Hi,That's it I am buying a new widescreen monitor to be able to display the 2D panel at the proper aspect ratio. As I am very picky about these things I would like to ask if the panel is designed for 16x9 or 16x10 aspect ratio, so I know what monitor I should buy to match the panel ratio EXACTLY.I would also appreciate an official answer from PMDG / Ryan if possible. Many thanks,Cristi
  8. Also double check how you OC your CPU. I have the same i5 760 and while mileage may vary I think you should be able to reach 4Ghz with decent voltage settings.Do you have an adequate cooler?

LDS767: My first FS high quality addon. It is excellent. Might be a bit old but still works and feels great.
  10. It would be great to have the TAROM repaints from PMDG!
  11. Thanks to everyone for their input - I am placing the order tomorrow.@Ryan - thank you for your thoughtsYes I intend to get DDR3-1600 Memory and I'm thinking about something with 8-8-8-24 timings.I also intend to get a good cooler, I was thinking about a Noctua, but I will also check your recomandations about the Megahalems and the Venomous X.I also have a little offtopic question about my bought PMDG products Md11 and J41. Will I have any trouble reactivating them on the new PC?Cheers,Cristi
  12. Ok, than I think I'll go with an i5 750 or 760.Is 4GB of RAM enough or should I go for more?Cheers,Cristi
  13. CPU: Intel I5 750 (or 760)MOBO: Asus P7P55DRAM: 4GB Video: Nvidia GTX460 1GbDoes this sound better?I just want to ask one more time, just to be 100% certain: at the same frequency there is no boost in performance between an i5 and and i7 processor (no benefits from using DDR3 memory and HT).. Is there any point going for more RAM? (6 or 8 GB) Is there any point in using DDR3 RAM? I noticed DDR2 RAM frequencies only go up to 800Mhz...Thanks,Cristi
  14. Triple channel memory or HT bring no benefit to FSX?What about an i7 870?Also is there a particular reason for going with NVidia instead of ATI (I liked the multi-monitor capabilities, and Dolby TrueHD bitstreaming)?
  15. Bumping up this thread as I am now (financially) closer to the computer upgrade. This is what I was thinking about:CPU: Core i7 930MOBO: Asus P6T-SERAM: 3 x 2Gb DDR3 1600Mhz (Kingston)OS: Win7 Home Premium x64I would like to receive some advise on this setup. Will this be enough? Also I have a question: I don't want to spend to much on the video card, FSX performance being limited mainly by CPU. So I thought about an ATI HD 5770... What do you think? Many thanks!Cristi
  16. Well, even with my aging platform (see my initial post), I am getting 25-30 FPS with the MD11, true with lowered settings and no airport addons, only ASX and Radar Contact. My problem is the J41, which -by the way - is superb, I get around 15 FPS.Ryan and all the others: thank you all for your advises! It has been really helpfull.Regards,Cristo
  17. What processor would you choose between these two, for which I tried to summarize the pros and cons:i7 860: 2.8GHz - 3.46 with Turbo, 2 memory channelsi7 920: 2.66GHz - 2.93 with Turbo, 3 memory channelsPlease note I don't intend to do any overclocking. So which one should work better for FSX (with PMDG, ASX and ATC addons) more clock speed or more memory channels? Thanks,Cristi
  18. Thank You for your advise!Of course, i will get an i7 system, that's the long term plan...But until then I still want to get some boost out of the current platform. I was wandering if changing the proc to a quad would be enough to get an extra 10FPS with the J41...Cristi
  19. Dear Captains,I would like to make a small upgrade to the configuration below. My FSX runs decently with the MD11 in 2d cockpit (25-30 FPS) but not with the J41 (15 FPS).I dont have the money right now to upgrade to a new i7 platforms so I was thinking about upgrading the processor to a Q9650 quad. What do you guys think? Is it worth it? Is there a better upgrade I can make?I have the following configuration:Motherboard: ASUS P5Q PRO Processor: Core2Duo E6600Memory: 2 Gb RAMVideo Card: ATI X1950 OS: Windows XPThank You!Cristi
  20. Would it be possible to have some button on the load sheet to load the plane with a random load (like in the MD-11?).I like the "suprise" factor of this - not being able to control the load of the plane :) like when receiving the dispatch data :)Thanks anyway!Cristi
  21. I have an E6600 with 2GB of RAM so I had no other option than to turn down settings both in FSX and in the JS41. I use no scenery addons. One other point to take care of is system maintenance:- up to date drivers and OS patches- stop all irelevant background software and unneeded services- defrag (Win 7 and Vista do this automatically)Here are my J41 settings:- Normal Resolution Displays- External Model: Low- VC Model: Low- Capt Displays Refresh: 100%- FO Diplays Refresh: 0%With these settings I get between 20-25FPSCristi
  22. Thank you JB for the test!Could we have some sort of statement from one of the PMDG developers which states exactly what has been implemented with regards to icing? Thanks,Cristi
  23. I guess the short answer is that the 747 costs 80$ and the J41 45$. For that difference we don't get a few features like:- 2D panel- panel save / load- failure modelPersonally I would be willing to pay more and have a 2D panel included.Cristi
  24. My wish would be to have in the next service pack a 2D popup panel with the FD selection buttons and HDG, IAS, and ALT knobs.Cristi
  25. Ok, thank you for the clarification!Cristi
