Feature request for JS4100

Featured Replies

I'm really lovin' the JS4100, it feels so real and is a blast to fly. As much as I like realism in my addons, there's one feature that is kinda boring and time consuming, and that's setting the airspeed bugs before takeoff. Would it be possible to create a hotkey that would automatically set the speed bugs based on the aircraft load sheet? Either that or accelerate the speed of setting each bug? It may seem like a small detail, but this one enhancement would make my day. Am I alone on this, or does anybody else feel the same way?Curt

It would be nice to have an Option for that, to get up and running quicker. I say option cause I kind of like manually looking it up and punching it in like they do in RL, adds to the reality factor ;>

that would kind of deviate from the realism no? I understand there is a big process but that is how it's done in real life! Thats the beauty of pmdg sims, complete realisim! I know how you feel it is nice to just go fly, but thats what these sims are all about, simming the real world procedures!

Agreed! I like to set the speeds manually as well. And I mean it doesn't take that long to set the speeds according the charts. Perhaps one or two minutes at the most?

I am very much in agreement with those of you who want to keep in step with doing things a close to reality as possible.

We all have to remember that there are alot GA enthuiests in this hobby who may be partial to say a J3 cub or even an ultralight or LSA! There are a lot of times I just like to get in the plane, twist the prop and go! so I can understand how some simmers perfer the "let's go!" approach. But for the most part, the thing I like best about these complex sims is that if you don't follow the procedures, you will infact experience negative results! Which is why we all love this hobby right? :(

It's funny you say this, I never follow any set procedures besides my own.I never experience negative results.

One advise here: until yesterday I used the speedcard from the simulation. That was quite hard to read and I had to move my viewpoint to get the IAS knob in view. Yesterday I printed the performance chapter in booklet format and I wish I'd done that earlier. It is a lot easier to read and a lot quicker to use. Just a little advise to make life easier :(

great idea, I didn't think to look for the cards in the manual. I like the cards in the cockpit, but they are a nuisance to deal with having to zoom in. It would be nice if they made the cards appear bigger in the VC so that they more readable without having to hit the zoom button a few times.

That's why its is called option. You do not have to use it, if you hobby is looking up speed charts. Raised%20Eyebrow.gifBTW: Great idea. I'd like to have that too.Alex

I printed into booklet form, cut down the center, lamenated, spiral bound at the top and hey presto looks like the one in the sim.Kind of cool not to have to click and fumble with it in the sim also lamenated the check list.Michael Haines

If you ever have a FAA-approved paper checklist in real life, don't laminate it, the FAA considers it a modification to the checklist, and you CAN'T use it at all for any flight purpose, especially if a FAA inspector is in the jumpseat observing your flight.Steve W.

The fun part about this is the relationship between you and the airplane. Coming from the PMDG 737s, 747 and MD-11, I found it a relief to be able to manually control most phases of flight. It's just that the incredible attention to detail put into every single knob, every single gauge, sound, lever... This plane ASKS to be flown using the mouse to turn dials and tune in frequencies.

Hey Steve,Did this actually happen to you? At the last 3 airlines I've worked at, the checklists were all laminated, and I'm not sure that anyone ever gave that fact a second (or even first) thought...Regards,Nick
