November 7, 200916 yr Aerosoft investigates the possibility of develop a new flight simulator, Aerosoft Flight Simulator 2012. More info here: http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showforum=278The press release from Cascade Game Foundry is very, very vague.I heard the world would end by 2012 ! :( kfreire. Kaue Freire
November 7, 200916 yr To uninstall flight simulator X would take exactly from 5 to 6 years, in the meantime the developers will see how the sales begin to reduce more and more unless new simulators appear on the scene and they migrate their products to the new simulators or these new simulators be able to import the planes, add ons and scenery from flight simulatorI guess you have "inside sources" or something? And how do you figure it will take "exactly 5 to 6 years" to uninstall flight simulator? You must know something we all don't know... Blake Williams
November 7, 200916 yr Commercial Member Javier-Please remember to sign your posts or I will keep deleting them from the PMDG forum.Signing your name is not optional here, thanks!Interesting discussion. Someplace in this forum about a year ago I posted PMDG's position on ACES closure...Maybe if I can find the energy I'll update our position.... Robert S. November 8, 200916 yr I guess we can't delete our own posts. So I'm reposting.I went and read the reasons for real name signature, of which I really don't mind using, but how would you know if what a member posts is real or not? And, is our signature in this forum, in all Avsim forums? I'm guessing, yes.
November 8, 200916 yr In the developer world, X-Plane isn't anywhere near comparable to MSFS.FS9 users are complaining that PMDG may or may not be making the NG 2.0 for their sim due to sales reasons. How do you think a simulator that looks like FS2002 would produce enough sales to even come close to competing with a FS9 release, let alone a FSX one?It will take a lot more than X-Plane to get me to "uninstall flight simulator".On that case....I am actually quite envious of the fs9ers because they already have the ng...the fsxers don't. November 8, 200916 yr It will take a lot more than X-Plane to get me to "uninstall flight simulator".IF FSX/ORBX start developing for X-Plane then it will be indication that X-Plane is a viable alternative, but I don't see this coming quite yet ... Michael J.
November 11, 200916 yr Wow, if a utility did hit the market that would make possible the import of MSFS addon scenery into X Plane, there would ensue a mad sampede of buyers, even before PMDG or Level D could come up with X-Plane compatible versions. This is already possible and has been for a long time with FS2XPLANE.Cameron Son
November 11, 200916 yr Flight sim enthusiast professional pilots in several online forums seem unanimous in their opinion that the flight dynamics of X Plane closer approximate real-life aircraft behavior than do those of MSFS, with frequent mention made of X Plane's formula-derived flight modelling approach being a more precise analog of aerodynamics than the "lookup table" programming approach used by MSFS. Regards Tony SelarioWell I tried X Plane and hand flew the 747-400 on a circuit. I did not feel there was any appreciable difference compared with the PMDG 744. I was able to take off and land manually just as easily in either as I'm sure we all could here. The X Plane offering was *very* slightly more difficult to keep level and on track but this could mean that it is less realistic as modern jetliners are not supposed to be difficult to fly. So I'm afraid I don't buy into the "X Plane is more realistic" theory.Iain Smith
