December 6, 200916 yr Just got her up and running in FS9. Not flown her yet, but looks very promising. December 6, 200916 yr Author I've just downloaded a BA livery, but the installer won't install it, says it can't find the FSX.cfg. Why would it want that as I've only installed it for FS9? :( Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
December 6, 200916 yr Commercial Member I've just downloaded a BA livery, but the installer won't install it, says it can't find the FSX.cfg. Why would it want that as I've only installed it for FS9?The Livery Manager works in FSX or FS9 mode. If you have both FS9 and FSX installed, it *defaults* to FSX but, there's a button that will put it into FS9 mode. The mode you are actually in, is indicated by an FSX or an FS9 icon, plus there's sign that says "FSX mode" or "FS9 mode". Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
December 6, 200916 yr I'm willing to buy this if its not too dumbed down. Can someone speak to the FMC and systems functionality? I understand that overly complex systems like hydraulics are probably not modeled (and that's not a showstopper), but it still has to have "true" medium complexity and functionality. The website really doesn't go into detail.

It would appear that out of the CS, PSS and QW 757's believe it or not PSS is still the champ because it models the most systems + load and fuel planners. If it wasn't so d@mned ugly I would be happy. The CS 757 could have been so much more...it is so beautifully detailed but also buggy in many of the systems even after the final patch. I guess the QW bird doesn't try to be something its not (like the CS 757) so in that aspect if systems are secondary to looks it would probably win. There is still room for a bird that looks as good as the QW but has systems modeled like the PSS...looks like that will never happen unless I move to FSX...and that looks like that will never happen either :(

Whatever :( Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
December 6, 200916 yr In the meantime I have looked at this bird, and I must say this plane is pretty much perfect for the long haul flights. Because of the fact that none of the 757 planes currently available for FS9 have the option to save panel states, you have three options:1) Don't do long haul flights (means you can't use the plane for flights which it usually fulfills = a pity)2) Do long haul flights in one (means you need 5+ hours (includes prepping the plane, taxxiing, takeoff, landing etc), which I simply don't have)3) Do long haul flights, but save the flight and then try to reset the switches to their original positions when reloading the next day (which is crazy). As you can se, none of these options is good. The QW doesn't seem to simulate a lot, looking at what's clickable and what not, making it very light. This means I can do long haul flights without being bothered by saving and loading. On the other hand, I can't work checklists like I'd usually really want to do, which is a great pity, but for now it'll have to do. Once I get a computer that can run FSX satisfactorily and the LDS757 is finally released, I will get that plane and be happy. For now... oh well. It'll have to do.In the end I simply installed Captain Sim and Quality Wings. I'll use them for the flights that they can be used for best.Mike T: I agree, this is a sad situation. The LDS757 is our current hope, but it's a pity it won't be here for FS9. December 6, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hey Guys,Emil from QW here.Obviously there are some issues, we ask that you be patient with us being a new payware developer and all.I just wanted to take the opportunity to say a few things about the product....While this is not a full systems product or a procedures trainer for that matter, I think calling it lite is a little strong. We believe that we have a true medium systems product that is somewhere in between. For what it's worth we modeled the Pratt & Whitney and Rolls Royce EICAS differences and each have radically different EPR refs and thrust curves. Our N1 to EPR ratios are all based on real engine perf charts. We simplified areas of the overhead, such as hydraulic pressure always being available etc. Please understand that you can heavily customize the panel via the config options from the manual, such as choosing what GPWS callouts you'd like to hear, flight director or ADI preference or even having the IRS out of alignment on start up.Best Regards,Emil
December 6, 200916 yr Quick question folks - is it possible to save a flight (including panel state) in mid-air? The information on your website is extremely vague. What on the overhead is not modeled. What systems are not modeled. What parts of the FMC is not modeled. How about your flight model is it based on a 757 or not. You've listed the features of the external model but really don't say much about the flight deck modeling. When you say "heavily customize" what does this mean? If the systems don't exist heavily customization won't mean much. For instance, your IRS modeling, does it have a realistic time period of ~10 minutes or is it instant on like CS 757? These are the details that people need. Help us to help you!People are going to go by the opinions of those who have purchased it unless you SPELL OUT what you product does and doesn't do. So far I am seeing posts that make your aircraft sound 'lite", and, I'm not willing to spend $45 to find out (and I suspect neither are a lot of people). Turn your marketing skills up a notch, I'm not willing to pay for a lite product but am willing to pay for a medium product.
December 6, 200916 yr Quick question folks - is it possible to save a flight (including panel state) in mid-air? Thank youNo. Not in the way you can with the LDS767 and PMDG747, for instance. HOWEVER, and that's what I tried to point out in my previous post, because the systems are not of the fidelity of CS's 757, it is much easier to save a flight and continue later than with the PSS or CS 757 offerings. There simply isn't a lot to reset once you fire her up in mid flight. But to say you can actually save the panel state - that you can't do.EDIT: A bit random, putting this in this post, but I think the sounds are great. Much better than in the CS757, in my opinion.
