March 4, 201016 yr Congratulations to Bill Womack on the absolutely brilliant Starks Twin Oaks project. It was made available today to those who pre-paid, so I expect it should be out within a day or 2 for general release. I just installed it this evening, and my sons and I flew around in the ultralight. Phenomenal attention to detail, great charm, wonderfully immersive. The complexity of the mesh to produce the quarry and the mounded runway is especially impressive. Now I'm off to explore its farther flung regions in the Scout...
March 4, 201016 yr Bill captured this little gem of an airport very well indeed. I just flew out of here the last two weekends, once in a Cub Crafter S2 and then last weekend in a Comanche 260. The blending with surrounding PNW textures, all the satellite imagery close in, the buildings, tree locations, all the local orchards and tree farms, even close in private airfields (one of which is a friend of mine's) are all done in incredible detail. This is the kind of thing I have always wanted with flight simulator. Thanks Orbx and thank you Bill Womack. March 4, 201016 yr That is what I have been trying to tell people all along. This is what everybody always wanted in a simulator, but never really though was possible. Orbx has taken FSX to a far away place than where it began. Obviously, greatness was designed in, but took awile to be developed into something extraordinary. It is somethng like what perhaps FS12 or FS13 might have been like out of the box. This is no longer just some kind of large incremental improvement. These recreations of reality are truely revolutionary and is the first fruits of a breakout technology. I am so proud of what ORBX has done.
March 4, 201016 yr Commercial Member All the props for this little gem must go to Bill Womack - he's been wanting to do this airfield for a long time. You can tell he's spent time there a lot in person by the atmosphere of the place. We're very lucky to have a veteran like Bill on the team! Cheers, John Venema
March 4, 201016 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the kudos, guys! By the way, Twin Oaks is ready for download for everyone now. http://www.flightsimstore.com/product_info...roducts_id=1214 Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack). I wish I would have known about the Australian scenery before. It has really changed the possibilities. Some members might laugh, and even call me an aficionado of Orbx sceneries, but as more people discover these airports, they will see for themselves how justified my feelings are. This is truly a blessing for flight simmers. I hope more discover how wonderful flying VFR in a sim can be. MSFS
March 4, 201016 yr About the only thing holding me back (from PNW) is knowing what I see in the marketing screenshots will not be what I see in my game. My textures aren't as crisp, and I never fly with autogen on max or near it. So while it looks good in user screenshots who have high-end rigs- I know it won't be that awesome in mine... So I can't really tell if it will be worth it - until that demo comes out - maybe then I'll know. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Seems to work for some people. :( I hope I don't get addicted, but I've already said that I'm a sucker for eye candy.
