Aerosoft Airbus X

Another feature recently added, and again a first I believe, is windmilling fan blades when the engines are shut down. Speed and rotation will be dependant on wind direction and speed.
Not sure about the CS757 in FSX but the CS757 in FS9 has had this feature for a few years... Just a heads up,-Paul

Hi PaulJust checked on the CS website where all 100 custom animations on the 757 Captain for FS9 are listed and there was no mention of such a feature? Ditto for the FSX version and also no mention of it in any of their other ac.

Hi Sharrow,They might not have listed it on the website but I can assure you as I am doing a preflight walkaround in the FS9 version right now they absolutely spin at varying speeds with the wind... I do not know what animations they have listed but I was speaking from personal experience, not the website... As I said, not sure about the FSX version but I am watching them right now in FS9 ;). Cheers,-Paul

Fair enough - you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the info.

Are they going to have that "clack, clack, clack" sound that free wheeling airbus engines make? :(

No Worries Konrad... I am sure this is going to look great on the Aerosoft Bus regardless!!!T'was a really minor point in the overall scheme of things :)-Paul

Hi, Ryan! It's an internal Aerosoft project (simulatneously made in a special professional version ordered by an airline).Do not expect MCDU with full VNAV. Vertical navigation will be simplified. But an advanced version is planned later on, so it might change. We'll all see how it goes. :(
The aircraft looks great! The lack of full MCDU with full VNAV is the only thing that will make me wait for the advanced version.

I'm not a fan of Mathjis, but this is one item where I have to agree with him. In line flying, just how often is one able to make use of VNAV? Getting a "PD" descent is a pretty infrequent occurence - at least in the eastern half of the US.At least 99% of the time, ATC decides when you start down, and with the capping and tunneling that goes on, there isn't much opportunity to use VNAV in the manner for which it was designed (for economy). Typically, the only thing it's good for is to take the skill out of making a crossing restriction. The lack of VNAV isn't a big deal if you plan on flying the airplane the way it's used in the real world. As long as it comes with Open Climb/Descent (I can't imagine that VS/FPA modes wouldn't be included) you'll have everything you need.

That is very true. In fact, I was just looking through the SOPs for the A320, specifically the descent management bits, and I could barely find a mention of using anything other than a variety of impromptu descent methods.Al

A quick question for some of you more knowledgeable folks:When hydraulic pressure is switched off in what sort of time frame can one expect the ailerons and elevators to droop on the A32x?

Konrad

For what it's worth, that's already been done in two aircraft (The windmilling) to my knowledge, both the Digital aviation fokker, and the AirSimmer A320 Basic do it. It's something that's been around at least for a couple years - I'm sure somebody else did it before Digital aviation though.

Well, I can now pretty much confirm that there will not be any wing flex implemented on the Aerosoft Airbus X. The concensus is that it is simply not worth the 3 to 5 fps which would have to be sacrificed.Another feature recently added, and again a first I believe, is windmilling fan blades when the engines are shut down. Do you know perhaps if the above mentioned ac have windmilling direction dependant on wind direction and is the speed of the windmilling dependant on the speed of the wind? Or is is just a one-way standard speed animation?

Konrad

I'm not sure of the DA, but AirSimmer's is dependant on both wind speed and direction

Sharrow are you asking about removing pressure by turning the pump off or engine shutdown on the ground?
