March 23, 201016 yr Wheer is Nick's post Tom?If you search for nickn fsx tuning guide on google you should find it, there are various posts in avsim with links to it too. I would give you the link myself but I'm o my iPhone and it's fiddlyTomHow clear is the VC? Is there any 3d effect to the switch, knobs and gauges? The graphics are good and in 3d including the immense engineers panel behind. It looks as though some of the textures are based on photos rather than drawn from scratch (I may be wrong) but on the whole the aircraft is extremelyimpressive.A few teething problems but I believe they are looking at service pack 1 as we speak.Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
March 23, 201016 yr Moderator The beta team included Captain Mike Bannister, a former Concorde pilot who flew the final departure from JFK back to Heathrow in October 2003. So I think you can take it as read the flight characteristics are as accurate as is humanly possible. The VC panel is stunning and best viewed on a large widescreen monitor. It's still impressive on a standard 4:3 display but you won't see quite as many instruments. The Virtual Flight Engineer is mandatory for all but the most experienced and handles fuel transfers leaving you to concentrate on flying. The aspects I found most enjoyable were:- When you lower the visor and nose the view automatically lowers allowing you to see the ground clearly. AS the nose and visor is raised after take-off the view is reset. The CIVA INS system used for navigation can accept flight plans of up to 9 waypoints. This is a huge improvement over the PSS Concorde where each waypoint has to be entered manually. The enunciations during take-off are all triggered by speeds that can be adjusted by the user depending on aircraft weight. There is a rapid INS alignment process that completes in a couple of minutes. I never had any OOM problems (see spec below) and haven't tweaked my FSX configuration that much. For a complex aircraft FPS are pretty good. Certainy no worse than for other complex aircraft / panels. If you decide to buy I'm sure you'll love flying her. :( Ray (Cheshire, England). March 24, 201016 yr Why? That's the way the thing actually works. There is definitely more work involved flying the Concorde compared to a modern airplane. FSLabs have done a fair bit of work to make the job a little easier (e.g. virtual flight engineer, optional automatic INS alignment and load of the first nine waypoints), but without "dumbing down". So you won't find an FMC (or default GPS for that matter). On the other hand, the added workload makes cruise flight much more interesting - you have additional chores to perform (such as tuning radio beacons for position updates to the INS, or adding waypoints beyond the first nine), and there is a whole new phase of supersonic cruise flight with its own checklists and tasks to perform. And time spent in cruise flight is much shorter, of course. March 24, 201016 yr Why? That's the way the thing actually works. If it did allow many more waypoints YOU have the option manually enter all after waypoint nine.BUT I don't feel like typing in another bunch of waypoints!
March 24, 201016 yr If it did allow many more waypoints YOU have the option manually enter all after waypoint nine.BUT I don't feel like typing in another bunch of waypoints!Hi McCrashWith the Simufly INS that Concorde X uses, you are able to use the AEDU Card System to load the next set of waypoints, so really, theres no typing to do. Every 9 waypoints (sometimes less) you need to just load up the next card, exactly as it was done in the real world. If FSLabs hadn't done that, and as you suggest, asked the guys at simufly to come up with an additional waypoint quantity, they would have all sorts of other complaints about a lack of realism.
