Diamond DA42 Twinstar

Do you work for them? Will the VC with the Mindstar thing be in 3D...will I be able to see knobs or will it look like its suppose to be part of the VC?I guess they make a very accurate G1000...so if I put that thing in there I'll be all set eh? Navigraph update work with the G1000?

Yes, it means the VC as well.

Will i be able to push the knobs and button in the VC to get the thing to work or do I have to pop-up a 2D display to do everything?THis plane is pretty close to release eight?

I got the IRIS DA-42 today and love it. The G1000 is the same as that in the DA40 (except for twin engines). I don't know if it's based on the default FSX unit or not but I find it fine, smooth and a heck of a lot better frames from it than from the default G1000!I didn't try the Bearing Pointer Options but I'm sure they were there on the DA40.A/P is right where I expected it to be and the push button format is realistic for APs that come with the G1000 (ie.. GFC700).It does indeed have a heck of a lot of ground effect but if you read reviews about the real plane, they confirm this is realistic. The VC, sounds, and general immersion are superb.Bear in mind also that the IRIS DA-24 costs just

Ok, first folks need to understand something about Garmins G1000 and the various versions when included in specific aircraft. A G1000 in a DA42 is a specific build per Diamonds specs and differs greatly from any other G1000. The same is true for a Columbia 400, Cirrus Perspective, Cessna Mustang, or most any other aircraft.Eaglesoft takes full advantage of the excellent base code in the FSX G1000, then adds Eaglesoft custom code for a specific aircraft such the Diamond DA42 Twin Star. This approach allows us to create a unique and specific G1000 which may be used in 2D and VC in both FS9 and FSX.In addition, we have no intention of modeling G1000 3D Knobs to our G1000 equipped aircraft as that would prevent users "drop in" of the Mindstar G1000.Mindstar Aviation is an Affiliate of Eaglesoft Development Group and we wish to build our G1000 equipped aircraft in such a way as to allow "drop in" of the Mindstar G1000 for those who own the Mindstar product.

Yeah, GCTCH hit the nail on the head there.Sorry Jim, but I think I would know if I had a type rating on an a/c or not :( In NZ we need type ratings for each individual a/c we fly...We're a bit backward - downunder :( Would be good to just have an endorsement as you mention.Ron, I tried emailing you but I haven't heard back...
Received and you and Andrew are included with our other DA42 RW Pilots for testing. :(

Perfectly sensible approach to take. Look forward to it. The ability to drop in the Mindstar will be a good USP for yours, over IRIS's offering, for those that want a more hardcore G1000 like the Mindstar.

It should be noted that Eaglesoft DA42 Twin Star is TDI Version only and we do not anticipate building the other versions at this time. Another note is that our DA42 uses the Bendix/King AP and does not include the GFC700.
We know. :(
No you didnt, you thought I was telling the truth :(

I think the TDi versions are probably of most interest to people so that's good. You guys always stick with discrete APs like the Bendix/Kings etc, but they've proved to work really well in your other GA aircraft (SR20/22, Columbia, etc) so no complaints. An integrated GFC700, with working FL CH would be nice at some point though :(

So if I get this plane and drop in the Mindstar thing I won't have 3D knobs lol? why not? Navigraph says on there website thatMindstar has updates for it s procedures for the G1000. I just dont understand why you wouln't model 3D knobs in a VC these days.

That's the problem though.... if you model 3d knobs and intend to put a 3rd party gauge it won't work very well. The gauge will be under the 3d knob and you might not be able to press a button or two.

In addition to what was just posted above, keep in mind that one vendor's G1000 may -or may not- use the same precise dimensions as another vendor's units......meaning that the 3d "knobs" wouldn't be precisely congruent with the gauge's knob positions. In order to provide proper "mouse control" on a 3d knob, the control script must be embedded in the compiled model file (.mdl). How then to couple that mouse-control variable to a third-party gauge?Believe me, it is difficult enough to accomplish even when the modeler and the gauge programmer are the same person! I know this all too well! :(

The TDI DA42 we are modeling contains the Bendix/King AP. We faithfully reproduce given aircraft and the TDI DA42 Twin Star does not contain the GFC700.An interesting note is that neither does the Columbia 400 G1000 version or the Cirrus Perspective G1000.

Ron, when's the release date? j/k of course.Sorry, I couldn't resist. :(
